Chapter 067: The Consequences of the Yin Fiend Obtaining a Physical Body
It’s Yu Nie!
Yu Nie grabbed Uncle Li’s hair, and Uncle Li instinctively fell backward. The move was so sudden that even Uncle Li couldn’t react in time. He subconsciously released his grip from my neck, his whole body collapsing onto the ground.
The moment he lay down, Yu Nie seized the chance, not affording Uncle Li a single opportunity to get back up. He planted himself firmly on Uncle Li’s stomach.
“Agh!”
No matter how formidable Uncle Li was, he was still human. My stomach would hurt, so of course his would too when struck—a scream of pain burst from him.
But then, unexpectedly, Yu Nie, who had gained the upper hand, suddenly let out a miserable wail. “Ah!”
I looked closely—Uncle Li, pinned beneath him, had driven a dagger straight into Yu Nie’s body! The blade pierced Yu Nie’s abdomen, and his body became like a sluice gate thrown wide open, blood gushing out in torrents onto the ground.
Uncle Li pulled out the dagger, intending to stab again, but I was quicker. I snatched up a stone from the ground and smashed it onto Uncle Li’s wrist.
With a grunt of pain, Uncle Li dropped the dagger. Tumbling and scrambling over, I snatched the blade from the ground.
I dared not hesitate—I drove the dagger straight into his left eye.
“Ah!”
Uncle Li’s scream echoed to the heavens. In his struggle, he landed a fist on my jaw. With a crack, my jaw dislocated, sending me flying and sprawling to the ground.
Uncle Li was a madman—a complete and utter lunatic. Despite the excruciating pain, he began laughing maniacally.
“Die... you’ll all die...”
“The one to die... will be you!”
Sitting astride Uncle Li, Yu Nie took a deep breath, then suddenly opened his mouth. A torrent of icy black mist poured from his lips, surging into each of Uncle Li’s seven orifices.
This black mist was none other than the fused Red and White Evil Spirits!
Yu Nie, with his profound cultivation, had absorbed them into himself using supreme Buddhist methods, making his own body their vessel. In Buddhism, all beings are equal and can find redemption; even the most vicious Red and White Evil Spirits might lay down their arms and attain enlightenment. In Yu Nie’s eyes, they were pitiful souls, compelled by fate, so instead of destroying them outright, he intended to find a way to release them, to deliver them into reincarnation.
But Uncle Li’s sudden stab had left Yu Nie not only grievously wounded and bleeding, but had also shattered his vital energy, breaking his spiritual defenses.
Seeing that he could no longer control the Red and White Evil Spirits within, Yu Nie chose a different path—to return them all to Uncle Li!
Uncle Li’s body convulsed as the Yin energy forcefully invaded him. Even a master like him was caught completely off guard. Stimulated by Yu Nie’s Buddhist arts, the Red and White Evil Spirits had lost all reason. Now, inside Uncle Li, they rampaged wildly, wreaking havoc on every corner of his being.
Uncle Li’s mouth gaped open. He tried to breathe, but even the most basic instinct—drawing breath—was beyond him. In moments, all movement ceased.
Uncle Li lay flat on the ground, blood still trickling from the gaping wound in his left eye.
Seeing this, I hurriedly got up, popped my jaw back into place with a single hand, tested it, and finding it mostly fine, rushed to support Yu Nie.
Yu Nie was dreadfully weak from blood loss. Lying in my arms, he offered me a faint smile. “I... I didn’t lie to you...”
“I’m sorry, I...”
Before I could finish, a sudden commotion sounded at my side.
Turning, I was startled to see Uncle Li standing bolt upright!
But he was no longer the same as before—his right side was grinning, while the left, with blood streaming from the pierced eye, seemed to be weeping.
As I tried to rise, Yu Nie seized my collar. “Use your... use your yang blood to open the Buddha’s eyes. He’s... possessed by the Red and White Evil Spirits...”
Uncle Li had been slain by the very Red and White Evil Spirits he’d created and lost control over. But because they were out of control, at the precise moment of his death, they devoured his soul and took possession of his body!
There is nothing to fear from a Yin Spirit manifesting form—only when it gains a human body is it truly terrifying!
Especially for entities like the Red and White Evil Spirits—once they claim a body, not only do they break free from human control, but they can also exist in the world for far longer, and most crucially, wield their powers through a physical form.
My grandfather once told me, if the Red and White Evil Spirits had no body, I might still have a fighting chance if I didn’t try to run.
But once they claimed a body, things would get truly dire. Unless the body is completely destroyed, they cannot be harmed. Yet, they can use Yin energy to heal the body in turn—a vicious cycle, making them nearly invincible.
I glanced at the Red and White Evil Spirits, now inspecting their new flesh, then looked to the moss-covered Buddha statue, some seven or eight meters tall.
I had no better plan. I could only do as Yu Nie instructed.
After propping Yu Nie against the wall, I stood, then sprinted toward the Buddha statue.
But I had barely taken two steps when I felt something clamp onto my abdomen. Looking down, I saw a ghastly, shriveled white arm!
Turning, I saw it was the work of the Red and White Evil Spirits.
Cursing under my breath, I chanted a spell and struck the arm twined around my waist. With a puff of green smoke, it recoiled instantly.
Seizing the moment, I dashed beneath the Buddha statue. Grabbing the torn cloth hanging down, I scrambled up the statue like a monkey.
Clinging tightly to the Buddha’s head, my legs locked around it, I used every ounce of strength I had. But I knew I couldn’t hold on long—the moss was too slick.
The statue’s eyes were far larger than I’d imagined. The blood I’d prepared for drawing talismans was nowhere near enough.
By then, the Red and White Evil Spirits had already reached the base of the Buddha statue. Their wailing, mournful cries echoed in my ears.
Suddenly, a wave of desolation surged within me. A voice from deep inside whispered that all my efforts were in vain, that I could never make it out alive, that resisting was pointless—better to embrace death and be spared the pain...
Gradually, my grip on the statue loosened.
“Jiang Huai!”
Suddenly, I heard Yu Nie’s voice, strained to its limit, calling out to me.
But by the time I reacted, my body was already toppling backward.
The Buddha’s eyes were nearly within reach, but I could no longer touch them. The Red and White Evil Spirits were below, glaring hungrily up at me!
“Damn it! Hell!”
I cursed loudly, then, in desperation, bit deeply into my own arm—so hard I tore a chunk of flesh free.
“Take this!”
With a wild swing, I flung my arm, spraying blood onto the face of the Buddha statue.
At that moment, I lost my balance and slowly fell.
Boom!
Perhaps today was the unluckiest day of my eighteen years of life.
Without the slightest deviation, I landed squarely in the arms of the Red and White Evil Spirits, who stared at me, drooling with a foul stench!
