Wang Lei’s agitation grew with every word, his entire body beginning to tremble uncontrollably.

Seeing him in this state, I knew I wouldn't get any answers for the moment. Just as I was about to ask if he was hungry or wanted something to eat, I glanced at him and found that he had risen into the air, chair and all, hovering mid-room.

I never imagined such a situation would occur.

I sucked in a cold breath and reached out to pull him down, but I felt as if some invisible barrier stood between us, making it impossible for me to touch him.

"Wang Lei?"

I called out softly, but Wang Lei, floating in the air, suddenly burst into loud laughter. He sat cross-legged in mid-air, looking entirely at ease—a stark contrast to someone who had just lost his father.

"Finally! I have finally returned!"

Wang Lei spoke, but the voice was no longer that of the Wang Lei I knew. A moment later, his gaze locked onto me. Being stared at by him made me shudder; was this truly the look of a junior high school student?

"Did you get rid of Yellow Hair?"

Wang Lei spoke again, and his words sent a jolt of alarm through me.

"You keep asking who I am. Do you think that’s enough to deal with me?"

Wang Lei laughed again after saying this. "Wang Song actually sought out someone like you to try and finish me off! If he hadn't, I might not have taken his life so quickly!"

Wang Lei rambled on, clearly enjoying himself. At first, I was astonished, but slowly, my fear and curiosity began to fade. I glanced at him and said calmly, "If you want to sit, come down and sit properly. Don't go breaking my chair when you fall."

As I said this, I walked over to the altar, took three sticks of incense, lit them, and placed them into the burner. I turned back to look at Wang Lei, and he was no longer in the air. He was standing less than a meter behind me.

"You must be Wang Lei’s younger brother, Wang Tian, right?"

"Wang Tian? Do I look like that brat to you?"

I was surprised. When Wang Lei first transformed, I had put together the events that had occurred in their family and concluded that everything, including Wang Song's death, must have been related to Wang Tian. Now, it seemed I had overthought it.

"Forget it. Since you are so eager to know who I am, I shall tell you."

"I am the God of Karma!"

Hearing this, I suspected that whatever was controlling Wang Lei’s body was a chuunibyou-afflicted lunatic. The God of Karma? In my view, this thing was merely a manifestation of the resentment and malice accumulated by the "Eye of Karma" from witnessing too much evil over time.

"Karma has no eyes; the eye only observes one's own debts. What do you want? To possess a human body?" I squinted at Wang Lei and pointed a finger at him. "In that case, you were the one who killed Wang Tian, weren't you?"

"Indeed! That kid was so annoying. I’m curious—how could he see my true form? If he had just kept his mouth shut, I could have let him live a few more years!"

The world is a strange place. The older brother possessed the Eye of Karma, capable of seeing all karmic connections, while the younger brother, despite lacking any special eyes, could see his brother for who he truly was. From a young age, he would beat Wang Lei whenever he saw him; in reality, he wasn't hitting Wang Lei, but the manifestation of the resentment within the Eye of Karma.

Sadly, no one knew Wang Tian’s true purpose until he died. If Wang Song had sought help to understand his sons sooner, perhaps none of this would have happened. But life is unpredictable. Even if I saved Wang Lei now, he would have to live the rest of his life in total isolation.

My mind raced, calculating how to handle the situation. But the Wang Lei before me seemed unwilling to give me time to think. "I see you have some skill. Why not join me? I guarantee you'll live a life of luxury, and I can even help you fulfill your own karma."

"Help me fulfill my karma?" I ignored everything else he said, but that final sentence successfully piqued my interest.

"You want to take revenge on the person you have a karmic debt with, don't you? Bring that person to me, and I guarantee they will die right in front of you within three days!"

"Really? You have that kind of ability? Of course, don't underestimate karma."

I had never underestimated karma. I didn't doubt his power, but I deduced that his ability required finding someone burdened by karma; only with their consent could he manipulate the life and death of others.

"No thanks. I prefer to handle my own affairs. Besides, I don't think there is any need for you to exist in this world."

Wang Lei burst into laughter upon hearing this. "What? By the sound of it, you think you can get rid of me all by yourself?"

I nodded. "Is there any difficulty in getting rid of you?" I grinned. "Others might think you’re impressive, but to me, you’re nothing more than a joke."

As I spoke, I turned and grabbed a handful of incense ash from the burner. "Karma turning into evil spirits is indeed terrifying, but you must understand that beings like you are dependent. You can only exist through Wang Lei, and you must ensure he never becomes blind."

I paused for a moment before continuing, "You are his eyes. If the eyes cannot see, then you have no reason to exist... so... disappear!"

The moment I finished, I lunged forward!

Wang Lei reacted quickly, attempting to jump back to escape, but given his stature, I grabbed his collar and yanked him backward with force. He flew through the air and landed hard on the sofa. I raised my right hand and, without hesitation, threw the incense ash directly into his face.

"Ah! What are you doing!"

I wasn't doing anything malicious; I just needed to blind him. As long as he couldn't see, the evil born of karma would slowly dissipate. Of course, I wasn't permanently blinding him; Wang Lei was innocent, and I only intended to subdue him temporarily.

Dealing with such entities doesn't require much internal pressure. No matter how much it boasts, it isn't even as strong as a newly formed malevolent spirit. It wasn't that it wasn't powerful—it was only dangerous under specific conditions, and unfortunately for it, this was not that condition.

"By the law of the heavens, command the evil spirit to dissipate! Decree!"
