Chapter 161: Su Ziyu Encounters Trouble
“Yes, I beg you...”
Lin Yuxin nodded repeatedly.
“Yuxin, I feel for you,” Xia Yu blew smoke rings and said, “I thought marrying into a wealthy family would bring endless glory, but look at you now.”
“You’re losing all your boundaries. Is this really what you want?”
Hearing this, tears streamed down Lin Yuxin’s face.
Those words struck right at her heart!
Xia Yu continued, “We’re husband and wife, and yet you can say such things. You’re willing to treat me like a pig or a dog, but do you even see me as your husband?”
“Have you ever seen a married couple who can’t sleep in the same bed?”
Lin Yuxin hesitated, thinking he was hinting at something, then stood up uncertainly.
“Alright, Xia Yu, are you saying you want to sleep with me?”
“As long as you don’t let Boss Liu terminate the contract, I... I’ll give you one chance.”
Xia Yu shook his head with a wry smile. “You really are cheap. I’m never interested in cheap women.”
“Lin Yuxin, do you remember what I said when we divorced?”
Clenching her fists, Lin Yuxin knew he was humiliating her.
“What?”
“Do you know what you missed? Are you clear now?” Xia Yu said with a meaningful smile.
“You...” Lin Yuxin, eyes red, said, “Enough, aren’t you going to help me just this once?”
“What affection do we have left? Have you forgotten what you did to me?” Xia Yu sneered. “If I were you, I’d never humiliate myself like this.”
“Fine, you bastard, just wait and see!”
“This is the last time I’m coming to you. You’ll regret it.”
“Xia Yu, if you didn’t have Xiao Jun, you’d still be a worthless piece of trash. Enjoy your pride, damn it!”
She grabbed her bag, crying, and ran out.
“Ridiculous.”
Xia Yu curled his lips, feeling no sympathy for this woman at all.
Not long after Lin Yuxin left, Xia Yu also stepped outside.
---
At the company, he asked Li Shen if the matter with the welfare home had been resolved.
“President Xia, strangely enough, Mr. Xiao and I just finished coordinating and were about to take action.”
“But unexpectedly, the welfare home was saved. We don’t need to intervene.”
“Huh?” Xia Yu was surprised. “Saved? Are you sure?”
“Yes, the authorities have already notified the developer not to touch the welfare home,” Li Shen nodded.
Xia Yu pondered for a moment. Could it be Su Ziyu who handled this? That doctor really had some ability.
No matter how she did it, saving the welfare home was a relief.
Still, he was curious how Su Ziyu, a mere doctor, managed it. After all, the property belonged to the Liang family, and from their usual style, they wouldn’t easily give up developing the welfare home.
A few days later, Xia Yu’s injuries were nearly fully healed; he needed to return to the hospital for suture removal.
He messaged Su Ziyu in advance, and upon his arrival, she immediately arranged for the stitches to be removed.
Seeing the crisscrossing scars on Xia Yu’s body again was somewhat shocking. She couldn’t help but ask, “How much have you been through to have so many scars?”
Xia Yu lowered his head and smiled silently, not wanting to frighten her.
What he had endured was unimaginable—and incomprehensible—to someone raised in a sheltered environment.
“All right, be more careful next time. Don’t get hurt again.”
Su Ziyu stood up with a sigh, inexplicably feeling a bit of pity for this man.
He appeared relaxed, but he was human, after all. How much pain did it take to leave those scars?
Xia Yu said nothing, and she didn’t press further. Still, an instinct told her there was more to this man than met the eye.
“Alright, you should get going. I need to get back to work.”
Su Ziyu, dressed in her white coat, smiled at him like an angel in white.
“Doctor Su, there’s a patient looking for you.”
Suddenly, a nurse hurried in, anxious.
“Which room?” Su Ziyu asked.
“No, not an inpatient. Apparently, someone came to cause trouble and is making a scene in the lobby.”
The nurse’s expression was grim.
---
“Hm?” Su Ziyu’s heart tightened, and she immediately walked out.
Medical troublemakers?
Xia Yu followed behind.
In the lobby, a crowd had gathered, shouting loudly. Several doctors and security guards were trying to calm them down.
One middle-aged man spotted Su Ziyu and excitedly pointed at her. “It’s her! She treated my child!”
“You incompetent quack! You owe us an explanation.”
About ten family members charged toward Su Ziyu angrily—if not for the security guards, they might have attacked her.
Su Ziyu was terrified by the scene, nervous and confused. “Mr. Zhang, please calm down. Let’s talk this through.”
“Your child left the hospital fine the night before last. What happened?”
A director hurried over. “Ziyu, what’s going on? Explain clearly.”
“Director, Mr. Zhang’s son had a fever a few days ago. I gave him an antipyretic injection, and he got much better. There was no problem.” Su Ziyu said with a hint of grievance.
Zhang Wei cursed, “You gave up on him, you quack. My son took the medicine you prescribed, and that same night his stomach hurt, and he kept vomiting.”
“He couldn’t eat anything. It was only when he was taken to the community hospital that we found out the medicine was wrong. The doctor there said it was good the treatment was timely or else it would have been disastrous.”
“The medicine was prescribed by you, quack. So your hospital must give me an explanation, especially you. Otherwise, this isn’t over.”
Hearing this, the doctors’ faces changed drastically.
For Su Ziyu, this was the first time facing such a situation; she was almost in tears.
“Ziyu, what medicine did you prescribe?” the director asked sternly.
Su Ziyu answered truthfully. “Director, the medicine I gave was correct, right? I’ve prescribed it to other patients before without any problems.”
In a corner, Cai Xiaojing and a few others sneered maliciously, “Serves her right. Karma’s here.”
Xia Yu noticed their smug smiles and frowned.
Could it be that they were involved?
