Li Shen’s smile froze at once.

“There’s an orphanage near Zhongshan Road. The Liang family is planning to develop the area, and I need you to protect that orphanage.”

“I’ll speak to Xiao Jun. You can ask him for help. I only care about the result, so make sure you handle this properly.”

Seeing the seriousness on Xia Yu’s face, Li Shen immediately felt the pressure. Still, he thumped his chest and promised, “Don’t worry. With Young Master Xiao backing me, I guarantee I’ll take care of it perfectly. I won’t let you down, brother.”

Xia Yu nodded in satisfaction. After discussing business, he chatted with the two men for a while. When it was nearly time to get off work, he left to pick up Lin Yuqing.

“Xiao Jun and several wealthy businessmen in Shenzhen are secretly working for him now. On the surface, he seems ordinary, but in reality, his influence already controls half of Shenzhen,” Mia replied.

“In your opinion, then, how should we deal with him next?” Old Third asked.

“I suggest we find an opportunity to eliminate him quietly. That would be the safest course.” Mia fell into thought. “From the boss’s perspective, he wouldn’t want this matter to cause too much commotion either.”

“Then it seems we’ll have to make careful arrangements.” Old Third gave a sinister smile. “Fortunately, his woman has already taken the bait.”

Neither of them noticed Lin Yuxin coming out behind them and seeing Lin Yuqing get into Xia Yu’s car before the two of them drove away.

Xia Yu and Lin Yuqing arrived at a Western restaurant.

During the meal, Lin Yuqing teased him, “Brother Yu, what made you suddenly think of inviting me to dinner?”

“Do I need a reason to take you out for a meal? In that case, I won’t invite you next time,” Xia Yu replied playfully.

“You... You can’t!” Lin Yuqing angrily kicked him under the table and said with a haughty pout, “Just try not inviting me.”

“I’m only teasing you. I just thought you’ve been working hard lately.”

Lin Yuqing rolled her eyes at him before continuing, “I really have been exhausted lately. Oh, and there’s been a lot of business news recently. The biggest story is that Grand Harmony Group is preparing to enter Shenzhen.”

“By the way, have you been following that news?”

Xia Yu paused for a moment and shook his head. “No. Is Grand Harmony Group famous?”

“Of course it is. How are you even running a company?” Lin Yuqing said irritably. “Grand Harmony Group went public a few years ago, and its growth has been incredibly aggressive.”

“Last week, it officially announced that it would establish a branch in Shenzhen. Apparently, it’s also bringing a major project with it, and next week it will invite bids to select business partners.”

“What is it?” Lin Yuqing asked, frowning.

“Someone is following us, though they’re probably after me.” Xia Yu’s voice grew heavy. “I’m not sure what they want, so get out first and take a taxi home immediately.”

“What?” Lin Yuqing hurriedly glanced behind them, unease rising in her voice. “Why are they following you?”

“Don’t look!” Xia Yu quickly stopped her. “Otherwise, they’ll know I’ve noticed them. I’ll pull over ahead. Get out at once, then take a taxi home.”

“What about you?” Lin Yuqing asked anxiously.

“Don’t worry about me. They may not even mean us any harm.”

Xia Yu smiled, but he already had a premonition that someone was trying to kill him.

There was no time to explain further. He dropped her off, then continued driving forward.

When he saw that the other car had indeed followed him, he breathed a sigh of relief.

After driving for a while, he suddenly accelerated.

“I hope they aren’t the same assassins as last time. That would be a real nuisance...”
