Chapter 122: Shamelessness
After leaving the party, the two of them got straight into the car.
Xia Yu looked at Zhao Sijie with a guilty expression and softly asked, “Will you blame me?”
Zhao Sijie was momentarily taken aback but then smiled. “That depends on your explanation. If it doesn’t make sense, then of course I’ll blame you. How could you hide such a big matter from me?”
Xia Yu gave a bitter laugh and thought for a moment before saying, “Actually, my boss is Xiao Jun. That’s why the last time at the restaurant, your boss Huang Hai treated me with such respect.”
“Xiao Jun truly admires me, which is why he appointed me as his CEO.”
“How did you come to know him?” Zhao Sijie asked in confusion.
“Although the Lin family isn’t exactly a top-tier aristocratic household, it’s still a prestigious lineage. Having been with the Lin family for so long, I’ve had the opportunity to come into contact with people at their level.”
Xia Yu exhaled and decided not to reveal the full truth just yet. She was just an ordinary girl; the reality might frighten her.
Besides, the vast difference in status meant that sometimes knowing the truth wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
He thought it better to wait until their relationship reached a certain stage before telling her everything.
He hoped their feelings would remain uncomplicated.
“Oh, then you’re really lucky. Xiao Jun is such an influential figure. With his patronage, Yu Ge, you’re bound to rise to great heights,” Zhao Sijie said cheerfully.
“Heh, I’ll do my best,” Xia Yu smiled.
“But...” She suddenly turned serious, staring intently at Xia Yu. “Are you sure you’re not hiding anything from me?”
“Uh...” Xia Yu looked at her helplessly. “Sijie, I don’t want to lie to you. I admit there are still some things I’m keeping from you.”
“But you have to believe that I have my reasons, and it’s for the best for both of us. Please understand.”
“Alright then, I won’t ask anymore.”
Zhao Sijie nodded generously, seeming unbothered and not pressing for details.
“Uh, you’re not mad at me?”
“Why would I be?” Zhao Sijie pouted. “Everyone has secrets they can’t share. Isn’t that normal?”
“I trust you know what’s in your heart.”
Xia Yu breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a little touched deep down. This girl was truly understanding—it was never tiring to be with her.
There was no denying that Xia Yu was slowly beginning to like her.
After all, people have feelings. The longer they spent time together, the more they understood each other, noticing each other’s strengths.
Xia Yu saw Zhao Sijie safely home, and after a passionate goodbye kiss, she reluctantly went upstairs.
Returning to his villa, Xia Yu noticed the lights were on as he approached the door, suddenly remembering that Chen Shufang and the others were living inside.
He lit a cigarette irritably, not wanting to see this family at all.
But since he was already at the door, he figured he should go in, take a shower, and change before heading out again.
So he opened the door and stepped inside.
“Xia Yu, you’re finally back.”
“You’re unbelievable—so irresponsible, not even leaving a phone number. We couldn’t find you anywhere.”
The family was watching TV in the living room, feet propped up on the sofa, acting as if they were at home.
“What do you want with me?” Xia Yu asked, puzzled.
“We ran out of alcohol, there’s no food left in the fridge, and there’s no supermarket nearby. Go buy some for us,” Cao Jun said in a commanding tone.
“Also, get the same kind of alcohol we had before at home—it tastes pretty good.”
Xia Yu frowned. “There’s a big supermarket just a few hundred meters outside the community. Didn’t you ask the gatekeeper?”
“Then why don’t you leave us some money? How are we supposed to buy anything?” Chen Shufang snapped.
“Exactly.”
Liu Jing gave him a sidelong glance while crunching on sunflower seeds, scattering the shells all over the floor.
Xia Yu took a deep breath, unsure where they got the nerve to boss him around.
Suppressing his anger, he headed upstairs.
When he opened his bedroom door, he froze.
He had a habit of neatly folding his quilt every morning, but now it was in disarray.
Nearby were clothes clearly belonging to Cao Jun and Liu Jing.
They had been sleeping in his bed. The thought of them doing such indecent things on his territory made his eyes redden. Clenching his fists tightly, nausea surged through him.
Lighting another cigarette, he tried to calm his fury. Staying in someone else’s home, the worst taboo was occupying the master bedroom—especially with a woman involved.
No decent person could tolerate that, least of all Xia Yu.
Right now, the place felt filthy and disgusting.
He turned and hurried downstairs, finding the fridge completely empty and the floor littered with empty wine bottles.
The bottles were from Huang Hai, Qin Peng, and Xiao Jun—gifts Xia Yu had received, now drained dry by them.
Did they even realize these wines were worth at least five million yuan?
That would be bad enough, but to finish the bottles and then just throw them on the floor—this once beautiful villa was now a garbage dump thanks to this family.
Holding back his frustration, he went upstairs and demanded, “Why haven’t you cleaned the house?”
“Are you joking? We’re supposed to clean your house for you?” Liu Jing snapped. “Since you’re finally back, we might as well tidy up.”
“Oh, so you remember the house belongs to someone else?” Xia Yu said bitterly. “Then why are you sleeping in the master bedroom?”
“Didn’t I tell you before we left? The guest rooms are all yours except for the master bedroom and my room.”
“So what? You’re not here anyway. The master bedroom has the best view. What’s wrong with that?” Cao Jun said with righteous confidence.
“Why do you talk so much, you useless man? No wonder you’re a broke driver—nowhere near Sijie’s classmates.”
“Sijie’s with you now, so just be happy about it. Don’t boss us around!”
“Heh, boss you around? Well said,” Xia Yu said with a dark smile. “This is my house. I’m ordering you to clean it up right now and get out immediately.”
“What are you saying, you deadbeat!” Chen Shufang jumped up like a shrew, pointing at him. “We’re staying here because we think highly of you. You want us to leave? Fine, show us the 100,000 yuan betrothal gift.”
“That’s right. Without the 100,000, we won’t leave. We’ll stay here forever.”
“Sijie owes our family that money. Since you’re her boyfriend, you should pay it off.”
Looking at their shameless faces, Xia Yu struggled to contain his anger. Their bottomless audacity meant there was no way to reason with them.
“Fine, I’ll give you the money tomorrow. Clean the house immediately. If I come back tomorrow and see it like this, don’t expect to get a single cent!”
“Really? You’re willing to pay Sijie’s 100,000?” Cao Xun asked in disbelief.
“Yes.”
Xia Yu was defeated by their shamelessness and just wanted them gone as far away as possible.
“What 100,000? Make it 200,000,” Liu Jing winked, seeing how readily Xia Yu agreed and assuming he could afford it, so why not ask for more?
“That’s right, 200,000,” Cao Jun and Chen Shufang chimed in, proudly.
“Fine, I’ll give you the money tomorrow. Clean the house!” Xia Yu gritted his teeth and stormed out.
