Chapter 119: Dare You Still Lay a Hand on Me?
“There will be. Quit that job of yours and come be my deputy at Yinghao,” Xia Yu said gently. “In the future, if you want to drink with President Xiao, there will be plenty of chances.”
“Bro… bro, are you serious?” Li Shen asked in disbelief.
“What do you think?”
“Haha, my good brother, it has to be serious…”
Li Shen hugged Xia Yu tightly, overwhelmed with emotion. He knew Xia Yu had turned things around and was now pulling him up with him.
How many people would kill for such an opportunity? Li Shen almost wept with gratitude.
Lulu, Chen Fei, and the others sitting with them looked on with envy, wishing they could know Xia Yu as well as Li Shen did.
Only Chen Fei’s cheeks blazed with heat; she was shy and uneasy, lowering her head, unable to look at Xia Yu.
Xia Yu pushed Li Shen away with a hint of disdain, then looked toward Chen Fei.
“Secretary Chen, now do you understand why I got in here? Still think I’m here to freeload?”
“I…” Chen Fei lifted her head, forcing out a smile that was more miserable than tears.
“Remember our bet? I guess I’ve won now, right?”
“If you have no objections, shouldn’t you honor our wager?”
Chen Fei trembled slightly, her usual bravado from the bar completely gone; she stammered and couldn’t speak.
“Seems like there’s no problem. Then call me ‘Dad’.”
Xia Yu said with a half-smile.
“You…” Chen Fei was at a loss for words.
“What? Can’t say it?” Xia Yu sneered. “If that’s the case, I’ll have the security kick you out. Surely you don’t want everyone here to see you humiliated?”
“No, no, no, please kick me out, I’ll say it.” Chen Fei was too embarrassed to lose face. Lowering her head, she whispered softly, “Dad…”
“What? Were you speaking to yourself?”
“Dad!!”
She raised her voice considerably.
“Hmph, too bad I’m not too keen on having you as a daughter,” Xia Yu chuckled, then headed toward Chu Zitong and the others.
Chu Bin and the others wanted to wait until Xia Yu was free to approach him, as he was currently surrounded by too many people.
Seeing Xia Yu and Xiao Jun approaching, both parties felt a bit awkward; the pressure in the air rose instantly.
“President Xiao, young man, n-no, no,” Chu Bin stammered anxiously, “It’s President Xia, my apologies.”
“Uncle, no need for formalities, just call me Xia Yu.” Xia Yu smiled generously. “Zitong, thanks again for helping me watch over Xiaomi last time.”
“That really helped me a lot.”
Chu Zitong was playful and unreserved. “Since that’s the case, what about your promise to help our company out of trouble?”
Xia Yu paused briefly, then replied, “Of course, I never go back on my word. Come to Yinghao Media tomorrow and see me.”
“It’s a deal, I’ll definitely come!” Chu Zitong responded.
“Hehe, do you really dislike that Zhang Jialong?” Xia Yu smirked. “Watch, I’ll help you get some justice.”
He and Xiao Jun walked over to Liang Zichao and his group, but Xia Yu’s expression turned completely serious.
Seeing them, the atmosphere became tense. Only Liang Zichao managed to keep a faint calm; after all, the Liang family was nearly as powerful as the Xiao family.
Xia Yu glanced at Lin Yuxin and Liang Zichao, then turned toward Zhang Jialong.
“Let’s have a proper talk. If I’m not mistaken, you wanted to see me after the banquet, right?”
Zhang Jialong twitched his mouth a few times, glanced at the poker-faced Xiao Jun, and was at a loss for words.
“What’s wrong, mute now?” Xia Yu teased, his formidable presence radiating pressure that overwhelmed Zhang Jialong.
Zhang Jialong looked at Liang Zichao and his brothers, but they all remained silent, making him realize the gravity of the situation.
Forcing a smile, he said, “President Xia, I didn’t know you were one of President Xiao’s men earlier. I apologize for the offense.”
“Oh, that’s all?” Xia Yu stepped in front of him, staring intently with a smile.
Zhang Jialong’s heart raced with a bad premonition.
“Slap! Slap!”
Sure enough, Xia Yu’s premonition was spot on. He struck Zhang Jialong’s face with two swift slaps.
Zhang Jialong felt the burning pain immediately, and his face swelled up.
“Do you still want to lay a hand on me?!” Xia Yu’s expression changed, glaring at him with overwhelming dominance.
“P-President Xia, I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
Unable to withstand the pressure, Zhang Jialong’s legs buckled and he knelt, begging for mercy.
Seeing Xiao Jun’s stance beside Xia Yu, it was clear he had full support. Not even ten Zhang family members could contend with the Xiao family.
To avoid further trouble, Zhang Jialong chose to plead.
“Hmph, is this the so-called Young Master Zhang? All I see is a coward!” Xia Yu sneered contemptuously.
Lin Yuxin looked at him, her heart already in turmoil, suddenly feeling that Xia Yu was a stranger.
Was he still the same husband she’d married a year ago? Why had he become so formidable?
One’s aura is shaped over time by their environment. It’s impossible to suddenly change years of habitual presence just because of a new job or a sudden change in status.
Yet Xia Yu now exuded the air of a true sovereign in every gesture and word, inspiring fear.
This was definitely not the Xia Yu she once knew as a mere CEO. Lin Yuxin was shocked beyond words.
