Inside the carriage, Chi Mie’s eyes flickered—several centuries ago! They had witnessed resurrection with their own eyes, so learning of something from hundreds of years past no longer seemed so unbelievable.

Chi Mie asked again, “When you went outside, did you encounter a tornado?”

“When I escaped, everything was calm and peaceful outside. There was no sign of a tornado.” Yet Chi Yuan suddenly fell silent. Chi Mie was never one to joke about such things.

Suddenly, Chi Yuan grabbed the reins and belatedly exclaimed, “Third Brother, you’re not joking with me, are you?”

The only answer was silence, and Chi Yuan was now fully convinced that Chi Mie was in earnest.

But this was all too bizarre. Encountering a soul returning to a borrowed body was unusual enough, but now they were faced with having traveled back several centuries. The world seemed to have descended into complete chaos.

Yun Zui walked through the imperial city, feeling as if everything around her was part of a television drama—it was all quite amusing. To think that time travel truly existed! But since she was here, she resolved to enjoy this ancient life to the fullest. Here, she was utterly unique.

The corners of Yun Zui’s lips curved up in a faint, contented smile. She felt refreshed and clear-headed. She desperately needed a proper bath.

Clad in torn and filthy clothes, Yun Zui arrived at the entrance of a tavern, only to be stopped by a sneering attendant who looked her over with contempt.

“Not just anyone can enter here!” Her attire resembled that of a beggar, but her bearing was far from it. The attendant didn’t shove her, but his tone was sharp.

Yun Zui cast him a cool glance, then produced the silver she had borrowed from Chi Yuan. “Does this tavern turn away paying customers?”

Her words were incisive. The attendant, seeing her silver, immediately bowed and apologized, “Forgive me, I didn’t recognize someone of your status.”

He had sensed she was an unusual guest from the start, but hadn’t expected her to actually have money.

Yun Zui didn’t waste any more words on him. “Prepare hot water, clean clothes, and some food—bring them to my room.”

With these instructions, the attendant hurried to arrange a room for her.

Once inside, Yun Zui found a bronze mirror and peered into it. Her face was so grimy she could barely make out her features.

The tavern’s staff were remarkably efficient. Within moments, hot water, clean clothes, and a meal were all delivered to her room.

As soon as the door closed, Yun Zui eagerly undressed and bathed. She hadn’t had a proper wash in days, and who knew how long this body had lain in that stone cave or what germs it might have carried?

With that thought, she scrubbed herself even more thoroughly.

After her bath, Yun Zui felt wonderfully refreshed. Wrapping herself in fresh clothes, she picked up the bronze mirror once more and gazed at her reflection.
