Chapter 117: Not So Easy to Die
Whoever had the audacity to target her was truly daring; once she woke up, she would surely make them pay with their lives!
However, Yun Zui had no time to think. Her vision blurred, and she slipped into unconsciousness.
The moment she collapsed, two men dressed in silver, form-fitting attire appeared. Judging by their garb, they were clearly members of the Lingyou Hall!
They had found her, and it seemed they had seen through her impersonation. What were they planning to do with her?
Yun Zui was oblivious to everything happening around her while she remained unconscious. When she finally regained consciousness and managed to open her eyes, she realized that dusk was falling. To her surprise, the first thing that met her gaze was the sky.
Where was she?
Yun Zui was incredibly bewildered, but she also felt as though someone was supporting her back with their hands.
Lacking the strength to move her body, she turned her head slightly and realized she was being carried. The surroundings looked familiar.
It was Lingyou Hall!
How had she ended up here? And what were they intending to do with her? Throw her into a vat of boiling oil?
As she watched her long, wide sleeves fluttering in the wind, she noticed the fabric was exceptionally soft and smooth. She had been changed into a new outfit.
A silver, wide-sleeved gown, and the location was Lingyou Hall.
What were they planning to do to her?
Feeling utterly powerless, Yun Zui could not even open her mouth. She could only move her head slightly, and her hands were just as immobile.
Wrapped in white fur and carried by four people, Yun Zui forced herself to remain calm. Her arrival in this ancient era was a miracle, something surely arranged by fate; she believed she wouldn't die so easily. Therefore, she had to stay composed.
The four men turned a corner while carrying her, and before long, they reached the entrance of a grand hall. They walked inside without being stopped by any assassins.
Once inside, the light dimmed, and Yun Zui could only see the carved beams and the ceiling. Her line of sight moved with their footsteps, and soon, ethereal silver curtains came into view. This looked like the area around Ling Yuan’s bed.
A thought flickered in her mind: was this how an emperor summoned a concubine?
No way. She felt her imagination was running wild. She had never revealed to Ling Yuan that she was a woman, nor had she removed her veil; it was impossible for him to have taken a liking to her, right?
Yun Zui felt speechless.
The reality, however, was just as it appeared. She was carefully placed onto a large, circular couch covered in that same soft white fur, surrounded by flowing gauze curtains that looked exquisite.
Yet, Yun Zui had no desire to be a "concubine" being "favored" by an "emperor."
A familiar scent of lotus incense wafted toward her, and Yun Zui felt a surge of frustration. Her enmity with Ling Yuan was irreconcilable.
While she was lost in these thoughts, a voice dripping with charm suddenly echoed from outside the hall: "All of you, withdraw."
Yun Zui would never forget that voice; it was definitely Ling Yuan!
It really was him. Why had he dismissed all the servants? Could it truly be that? But Yun Zui was currently unable to move; even if he were to "devour" her, it wouldn't be any fun, would it?
That was what Yun Zui thought, but Ling Yuan might not share the same sentiment.
Yun Zui furrowed her brows tightly. Amidst the flickering candlelight, she saw Ling Yuan’s graceful silhouette cast upon the gauze curtains.
