Chapter 95: Mind Gives Rise to Form and Soul
Within the cave, one could not tell how the days and nights had passed.
Before they knew it, the two of them had already spent seven days and seven nights in that mountain cavern.
During those seven days and nights, neither Nalan Dijiu nor Baili Tianchang spared themselves; both devoted themselves to bitter, unrelenting cultivation.
At last, Nalan Dijiu finished guiding Baili Tianchang.
Baili Tianchang remained seated cross-legged on the ground, still somewhat lost.
Was that all there was to it?
Had she truly reached the first stage of a space mage?
She felt thoroughly bewildered.
It seemed she was in urgent need of that encyclopedia.
“Little fairy, try sensing whether your spiritual consciousness can control the space within you,” Nalan Dijiu reminded her.
Baili Tianchang closed her eyes and, focusing intently, used her still-weak spiritual consciousness to try to command the space within her own body.
At first she thought nothing of it, but when she looked inward, she nearly startled herself.
Heavens!
Was this truly the space inside her?
When she had first taken the pill and awakened it, the space had seemed large enough, but it had not been nearly this vast.
This was practically an endless expanse, big enough to build countless towering mansions and palaces.
Still, she was not someone who lost herself to excitement or unstable emotions. Very quickly she calmed down and, just as Nalan Dijiu had instructed, began to try controlling her space.
She transferred the things stored in her storage ring into the space within her body, and found that she could do it perfectly.
“Now we can make the copy of the encyclopedia you want,” Nalan Dijiu said with a pleased smile, taking out the Book of All Things once more.
“Use your thoughts to control your space and keep the book’s form and spirit within it. In this way, even though I have already returned the book to the Fish-Drowning Saintess, its form and spirit will still remain in your space. Not a single word will be wrong, and you will be able to read it as usual.”
“The soul of a book? I thought only people had souls,” Baili Tianchang said in astonishment.
“Try it first. Once you have gone through the book, everything will make sense,” Nalan Dijiu said with a soft smile, offering no further explanation.
So Baili Tianchang once again did as he was told. She first placed the Book of All Things into her own space, then used her thoughts to control it and make another Book of All Things appear.
As her mind stirred, the Book of All Things on the ground truly changed.
Countless characters surged out of the original volume one by one, like a flood, gathering in a heap on the empty ground beside it.
As those black, tadpole-like characters continued to converge, a book that seemed to flicker in and out of existence appeared quietly on the vacant ground.
Baili Tianchang began comparing the two books.
She discovered that the book she had brought forth with her thoughts was identical to the original Book of All Things in every respect: size, dimensions, and even content, all without the slightest error.
The only difference was that the original existed continuously, while the copy faded in and out of view, appearing and disappearing intermittently, and only remained fully visible when held in her hands.
Aside from that, there was not the tiniest difference between them.
“It worked?” Nalan Dijiu looked at the smile on Baili Tianchang’s face and understood everything at once.
“Nalan Dijiu, I already have a copy of the book.”
