As they walked on, Bai Li Tianzhang heard the murmur of running water by her ear.

She lifted her gaze and saw ahead a silver ribbon cascading from a cliff dozens of fathoms high, a sight both magnificent and beautiful.

That silver ribbon was a waterfall.

“We’ve arrived at the cliff of the void,” said Nalan Di Jiu.

He led Bai Li Tianzhang closer to the cliff.

The waterfall poured down in torrents, sending up towering sprays at the base of the precipice.

“Now we go into the hollow within the cliff.”

Nalan Di Jiu extended his strong arm, drew Bai Li Tianzhang into his embrace with a single sweep, and rose into the air, shooting straight toward the rushing curtain of water.

With Bai Li Tianzhang in his arms, he passed through the waterfall with ease and reached the far side.

At first, with the waterfall between them, she could not see what lay beyond and had assumed it was merely a stone wall.

But now, as Nalan Di Jiu brought her to the other side, she discovered that behind the waterfall was a cave.

The cave mouth was just wide enough for the two of them to enter.

Looking into the cave from the entrance, all was pitch black. Yet after peering more carefully into its depths for a moment, Bai Li Tianzhang could not help rubbing her eyes.

Strange. In that utterly dark cavern, multicolored radiance was actually flickering. At first glance, it was as if she had been struck by a flash of light.

She looked again, and once more it was all darkness.

There was certainly something odd about this cave.

“Do not be afraid. Follow me,” Nalan Di Jiu said softly, soothing her with gentle words. Taking her hand, he led her step by step into the cave.

“What made you think I was afraid?”

Bai Li Tianzhang had never been a timid person.

“You are so brave that I hardly get the chance to spoil you,” Nalan Di Jiu said with a faint, rueful smile.

Then he took from his storage space a night pearl of astonishing size.

With it, the blackness of the cavern was instantly swept away by light.

Bai Li Tianzhang could see that both sides of the cave were damp stone walls, thick with green moss.

The ground beneath their feet was damp as well, and patches of green moss grew here and there.

The floor ought to have been slippery, but with Nalan Di Jiu beside her, every step he took was so steady and powerful that Bai Li Tianzhang felt not the slightest effect from the wet ground.

They continued deeper and deeper into the cave. Bai Li Tianzhang had long since lost track of how far they had come when, at last, the scene before them began to change.

Both the walls and the floor had grown dry, no longer wet.

Air currents moved through the cavern, and the atmosphere was filled with an abundant spiritual energy.

After only a few more steps, the shimmering, multicolored light Bai Li Tianzhang had first glimpsed at the mouth of the cave suddenly appeared before her eyes.

She stopped without meaning to, gazing at the scene ahead, which seemed like a land from the heavens.

Not far away grew a patch of plants.

But these plants were nothing like ordinary ones.

Each one gave off a beautiful radiance.

Some glowed green, some red, some blue, some yellow...

All the different colors intertwined and reflected upon one another, creating a beauty beyond words.
