Chapter 20: I, Ling Qiong, Send Money! (20)
Ling Qiong had come here today with something else she needed to get done, but as soon as she finished chatting and stepped outside, she was blocked by Bai Yewei and her clique.
“Miss Bai, what are you doing?” Ling Qiong leaned against the wall, looking like a helpless young lady about to be bullied, her expression tinged with panic and fear.
Bai Yewei folded her arms across her chest, her beautiful face darkened. “Were you pestering Qin Chuan just now?”
Ling Qiong’s eyes widened. “Who said so?”
“I saw it with my own eyes!” A curly-haired girl next to Bai Yewei stepped forward.
Ling Qiong retorted, “You saw wrong.”
The curly-haired girl scoffed, “How could I possibly see wrong? Don’t try to deny it!”
Ling Qiong looked utterly innocent. “It was Shen Qin Chuan who was pestering me.”
The curly-haired girl was speechless.
Bai Yewei was equally stunned.
Shameless!
Across the minds of Bai Yewei’s clique, the same bold words flashed simultaneously.
...
Ling Qiong was pushed into a lounge by several girls, and the curly-haired girl locked the door behind them.
Ling Qiong was shoved to the center of the room, her delicate figure appearing even more fragile before the group of girls.
She looked at the crowd gathering around her, a hint of fear in her voice. “What do you want?”
Bai Yewei stood at the back. “It’s bad enough you pester Qin Chuan, but now you’ve taken the money and still want to cling to him? Do I look like an easy mark to you?”
Ling Qiong was tempted to nod—yes, you do, you absolutely do!
But considering her predicament, she wisely refrained from doing so.
Ling Qiong sighed. “I told you, it’s not me pestering Shen Qin Chuan, it’s him pestering me.”
Why did no one believe her?
Even if she managed to win back the male lead, it would be pointless. She was only after some money to spend—what would she cling to him for?
Bai Yewei refused to believe Ling Qiong’s nonsense and forced a cold, mocking smile. “If I don’t teach you a lesson today, you’ll never learn.”
Ling Qiong was speechless.
[Don’t be afraid, darling, go for it!] Shining suddenly popped up, sounding excited, as if eagerly anticipating the drama about to unfold.
Ling Qiong: ...I am afraid, please don’t!
[Don’t worry, I’ll back you up.]
Ling Qiong: ??
You’re just a customer service agent, tricking people into spending money is bad enough, and now you’re encouraging players to be violent?
Ling Qiong privately rolled her eyes at Shining’s money-grabbing antics.
Why don’t you go in yourself?
[Darling, if I could, what would I need you for?]
Shining did something, and suddenly Ling Qiong saw a cheerleader squad performing motivational routines before her eyes.
[I can cheer you on~]
...
[It’s a free service, no need to thank me.]
Ling Qiong was speechless.
Please leave! Right now!
Shining went silent. Meanwhile, Ling Qiong was already surrounded by Bai Yewei’s clique.
“Hold her down,” Bai Yewei ordered.
The girls moved in immediately.
Ling Qiong cried out, “Don’t do this! You’ll regret offending me. I’m from the Su family,” she warned, invoking her background.
As she spoke, she pushed past one girl and retreated.
But they had the numbers; Ling Qiong was cornered against the wall again.
Bai Yewei sneered, “You’re just the Su family’s illegitimate child. Do they even care about you? Even if I did something to you, do you really think the Su family would stand up for you?”
These lines...
Is this something a supporting female character should be saying?
And even if she was illegitimate, the Su family only had her left.
Ling Qiong, the last of her line, hesitated and asked honestly, “Miss Bai, do you actually have the resources for that?”
Bai Yewei was confused at first, then realized the implication and blushed furiously. “Su Miao Miao, have you no shame!”
Ling Qiong replied, “You’re all crowding around me right now, planning a group activity—seems pretty shameful to me.”
Bai Yewei was speechless.
Her mouth twitched and she gritted her teeth, barking, “Stop wasting words with her—hold her down!”
If she didn’t properly teach this woman a lesson today, she might as well change her surname.
...
Half an hour later.
Ling Qiong stepped out of the room, straightening her clothes. The moment she crossed the threshold, she was once again the exquisite, radiant little princess.
Behind the door, the girls were left sobbing in despair.
Just moments ago, they had been perfectly dressed and beautiful; now, their appearances were utterly ruined, as if they’d been through an ordeal.
The scene was so astonishing, it defied description.
They thought dealing with one little girl would be easy.
But who could have guessed that the seemingly frail, unassuming girl was actually so formidable?
Ling Qiong thoughtfully closed the door for them and added, “Don’t worry, you can cry as much as you want—no one will come in to bother you.”
The crying inside grew even louder.
Ling Qiong patted her wildly beating heart—she was terrified. When women go crazy, it’s truly frightening. Time to run!
She grabbed her skirt and slipped away.
Ling Qiong didn’t dare linger. She left immediately, and as she exited, she saw Lu Wen Ci standing not far off.
Even though he wore a hat and mask, Ling Qiong recognized his figure instantly—there was no mistaking him.
She ran over. “Quick, let’s go.”
Lu Wen Ci, dragged along for no apparent reason, ran with her for a while. When they finally stopped, he asked, “Where’s your car?”
Ling Qiong was speechless.
She had forgotten.
She handed him the keys and commanded confidently, “You drive.”
Lu Wen Ci was speechless.
Another day as a tool.
Lu the tool fetched the car, Ling Qiong climbed in, kicked off her heels, and propped up her legs.
“Your skirt,” Lu Wen Ci reminded.
Ling Qiong was unconcerned. “It covers just fine, and I’m wearing safety shorts—look!”
Lu Wen Ci was speechless.
He never cursed, but right now, he wanted to.
He didn’t dare glance at her, so he changed the subject. “Why were you running? Was someone chasing you?”
Had she really swindled money from her ex-fiancé?
Based on his months of experience with her, she was perfectly capable of doing just that.
For some reason, he felt a bit sorry for the ex-fiancé.
Ling Qiong pouted, feeling aggrieved. “Someone wanted to teach me a lesson—how could I not run?”
Lu Wen Ci was startled, his tone a bit tense. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine.”
He looked at her, lively as ever.
Lu Wen Ci asked, “Why did they want to teach you a lesson?” Was it for scamming money?
Ling Qiong pulled out a small mirror from somewhere and sighed at her reflection. “Maybe it’s because I’m too good-looking—born beautiful...though this isn’t even my face.”
She muttered and put the mirror down.
At the same time, a strange thought flashed through her mind—something was off with this game...
Lu Wen Ci only caught the part about being too good-looking, and his face twitched.
She really was beautiful.
But did she have to be so narcissistic?
“Still, I am quite good-looking,” Ling Qiong said, picking up the mirror again and admiring herself.
Lu Wen Ci shook his head helplessly and returned to the earlier topic. “So you just ran?”
“Mm-hmm.” Ling Qiong nodded, then curled her lips, “But before I ran, I beat them up.”
...
So that was the real reason she ran, wasn’t it?
