Blooming was out of the question.
Ling Qiong took a bag from nearby, packed everything into it, and handed it to Jiang Xunchu to carry.
“Are they here looking for us?” An Changjing edged over to them.
Ling Qiong forced a smile. “What do you think?”
“…I think so.”
“Then why aren’t we running?”
An Changjing immediately pointed behind them. “I saw an exit over there.”
The three of them moved toward the rear exit. There was a disturbance at the supermarket entrance; someone had probably come in.
The exit door was shut tight, but when Ling Qiong reached out and pulled it, it opened with ease.
She poked her head outside for a look, then instantly withdrew and quietly closed the door again.
“What is it?” An Changjing asked nervously.
Ling Qiong let out a breath. “There are quite a few little darlings outside.”
Little darlings? What kind of little—
A flash of understanding crossed An Changjing’s face. “Zombies?”
They were zombies. Why call them little darlings?
No one would dare want darlings like those.
Outside was an alley, with a road beyond it.
There were several zombies in the alley, and there seemed to be some on the road as well.
“This is the only exit,” Jiang Xunchu said, sweeping his gaze around. “If we can’t get out this way, the only option is the front entrance, but…”
But the front entrance was now crawling with people.
And they had come to capture them.
Jiang Xunchu’s gaze fell on the shelves not far away. He bent down, went over, and brought back two boxes.
“That should be the storeroom. You two hide inside first,” he said as he opened the boxes.
Apart from the exit, there was only one other door.
An Changjing pressed down on the handle, and the door opened. After waiting a moment, he gave them an okay sign to show that it was safe.
“You’re planning to lure the zombies in?”
“Yes.”
Jiang Xunchu worked swiftly. He secured a music box that played a sound onto a simple toy car.
He was not sure how loud it would be.
But zombies had good hearing. It ought to be enough to draw them over.
The people searching the store had already searched four rows of shelves.
Just as one of them rounded the final row, a toy car suddenly shot out, and the background music of “Merry Christmas” began playing at the same time.
In the silent space, the sound was both jarring and deafening.
Then came the furious howls of the zombies.
The door marked Emergency Exit was smashed open, and zombies poured in from outside.
It all happened within a few seconds. The man had not even had time to react.
When his mind finally caught up, he instinctively raised his weapon and opened fire.
The weapon had no suppressor, and the gunshots immediately burst out of the supermarket.
The zombies wandering near the convenience store all turned toward the source of the noise. They froze for a second, then charged toward it as one.
…
All the zombies in the alley had been drawn into the supermarket. Ling Qiong and the other two quickly left the alley.

Ling Qiong ran out of the alley, then suddenly stopped.
“Lady, what are you doing? Keep running!” An Changjing turned back and urged her.
Jiang Xunchu stopped as well. “What is it?”
Ling Qiong’s expression turned solemn. “No. I have to go get my car.”
An Changjing was sweating with anxiety. “At a time like this, why are you still worrying about the car?” Was escaping with their lives more important, or was the car?
The car was nearly out of fuel anyway. They could always find another one later.
“You don’t understand.”
That was a car she had gotten from drawing a card.
How could it be treated like an ordinary utility vehicle?
“You two go hide somewhere safe. I’ll go get the car.” Ling Qiong turned and headed back.
An Changjing stared, then turned to Jiang Xunchu. “You’re not stopping your sister?”
“I’m going with her.”
An Changjing: “…”
Fine!
…
Ling Qiong circled back to the supermarket’s front entrance.
There had been quite a few people in that group. By now, they were trapped by zombies inside a two-story shop across from the supermarket.
Several others had failed to get inside and were standing on the roofs of cars.
The zombies surrounded the vehicles, stretching out their hands to grab the people on top.
Ling Qiong looked into the shop and spotted Lin Miaoru at a glance.
She was still with that group?
Ling Qiong withdrew her gaze and searched for her car.
The car was at the edge of the battle zone. The zombies were leaping about wildly, so getting over there would be troublesome.
Dear user, I suggest drawing a card first.
“Why?”
Dear user, trust me. I have never led you wrong. Look, when have I ever harmed you? My very existence is devoted to serving you wholeheartedly.
Ling Qiong: “…”
Devoted to tricking her into spending money, more like.
Although she did not want to admit it, still…
Ling Qiong ducked back and opened the home screen.
“You’re giving up?” An Changjing assumed the spectacle over there had frightened Ling Qiong into abandoning the car, and immediately became excited.
“I’m thinking.”
An Changjing: “…”
Thinking about what?
Why had she even sat down?
Drawing cards was exhausting work. Ling Qiong could draw cards while keeping an eye on the battle at the same time.
The zombies had been attracted by the noise, and more and more were gathering.
There was no telling how much longer the shop could hold out.
The people on top of the cars seemed to have run out of ammunition. They could only draw close-combat weapons and fight the zombies head-on.
The zombies climbed onto the car roofs. Soon, they dragged the people down to the ground, where they vanished beneath the horde.
Ling Qiong sucked in a breath and rubbed her arms. It was frightening.

While Ling Qiong was watching the spectacle, a glittering card flew out of the card pool.
[1,000 Meters]
Ling Qiong: “…”
Since she could not understand any of it anyway, there was no point trying.
The card showed a street. Thinking back, Ling Qiong seemed to remember passing by it on the way here…
She had drawn a plot card. Ling Qiong immediately got to her feet.
“You two wait here. I’ll go by myself.”
“You…” Jiang Xunchu caught hold of her, but in the end, he could only force out two words: “Be careful.”
“Don’t worry. This is nothing.”
The zombies’ attention had been drawn by Zhao Qi’s people. Ling Qiong circled around from behind and soon reached the car.
One zombie wandered off from the group and suddenly stumbled over near the vehicle.
Ling Qiong picked up a sharp length of rebar from the ground. When the zombie approached, she drove it straight into its head.
Her movement was swift and vicious.
A direct hit.
The zombie swayed, then slowly collapsed.
Mr. Zombie had proven through experimentation that slacking off always ended badly.
Bang—
Ling Qiong had not even opened the car door when a bullet struck the window.
The glass was bulletproof and did not shatter.
But it gave Ling Qiong a tremendous fright.
The second bullet gave her no time to catch her breath. It arrived almost immediately…
The shooter was clearly aiming at her.
Ling Qiong cursed and moved around to the other side.
Using the car as cover, she got a clear look at the shooter.
He was a man.
She did not know him.
But Lin Miaoru was standing beside him, so she had undoubtedly ordered him to do it.
Tsk.
Apparently, she would not be able to rest easy until she had killed Ling Qiong.
It made sense, really. Ling Qiong had already gotten the heroine killed. If the male lead found out, how could Lin Miaoru possibly survive?
…
“Did you see her?” Lin Miaoru had not spotted Ling Qiong. Where had she hidden herself?
“No.” The armed man had not seen her either. He hesitated. “Shouldn’t we deal with the zombies first and find a way out of here?”
The zombies had them trapped. If this continued, none of them would make it out alive.
“Watch for her. The moment she comes out, shoot.”
“…”
Lin Miaoru went to find Zhao Qi, but he was busy fighting off the zombies and had no time to deal with her.
“I have a way to get out of here,” Lin Miaoru said.
“You have a way?” Zhao Qi asked.
Lin Miaoru nodded.
