Chapter 32 0034: The Fan Family Will Vanish!

Kurt was utterly stunned.

The child who, according to the files, had always endured torment, oppression, and helplessness, had suddenly transformed into a formidable figure, taking on eight opponents single-handedly. The extreme contrast left Kurt in awe.

Chu Yun’s movements were swift, clean, and fluid. Facing these seasoned veterans of the workplace, he showed not a hint of uncertainty or awkwardness; instead, his attacks were ruthless, precise, and lightning-fast.

When the assassin leader scrambled to his feet, attempting a counterattack, Chu Yun, standing above him, casually pressed the blade—previously held against Kurt’s throat—against the man's neck and said with a light tone, “You didn’t get the price wrong. The mistake was that the Fan family should have hired a team of warriors at least; all of you are just at the peak of fighter status, but you’re still unqualified!”

The assassin leader, seeing his comrades sprawled across the ground, incapacitated, stared wide-eyed at Chu Yun, half-kneeling, and asked in a choking voice, “How old are you? You can’t be twenty yet, can you?”

They had taken the job thinking their target was just a student from a second-rate academy, never imagining Chu Yun possessed such terrifying strength. As a student, he shouldn't be over twenty; the leader could scarcely believe it.

Chu Yun replied, “You want to know?”

The assassin leader nodded.

Chu Yun asked, “Who sent you to kill me?”

The assassin leader hesitated, “If I tell you, will I be allowed to leave alive?”

“No,” Chu Yun said, “but you don’t have to answer.”

The assassin leader finally spat out, “The Fan family!”

“I already knew that,” Chu Yun remarked.

The assassin leader protested, “Then why ask?”

Chu Yun replied, “How else would we trade information? Now I’ll answer what you want to know.”

The assassin leader pressed, “Are you over twenty?”

Chu Yun said, “No.”

The assassin leader narrowed his eyes, “Why isn’t your profile on the Earth Ranking? With your strength, you should easily be in the top ten!”

Chu Yun replied, “You mean, if you all knew I was in the Earth Ranking’s top ten, you wouldn’t have come to kill me?”

The assassin leader said, “We’d still come; the price would just be renegotiated. Nothing in this world is absolute.”

Chu Yun smiled faintly, “Interesting. I’m beginning to like it here.”

He had thought the world of the weak was dull, but now he saw even the weak had their own rules of survival.

With those words, Chu Yun flicked his finger, the blade slicing cleanly across the assassin leader’s throat, blood spurting like a fountain. Kurt watched, dazed.

Chu Yun, seeing Kurt sitting there in a stupor, addressed him, “If I’d studied with you for half a year, facing these people, I’d be a lamb waiting for slaughter within the time it takes to smoke a cigarette. But if I train in martial arts, I’d have them all down before the cigarette burns out!”

Kurt narrowed his eyes at Chu Yun, “He made one mistake just now.”

Chu Yun asked, “What?”

Kurt said, “Your strength could put you in the Earth Ranking’s top ten, but among the young people there, your composure would rank first.”

Chu Yun grinned, “Don’t say that, it’ll make me arrogant. To be honest, I’m only forced by circumstances—pretending to be an adult to seem deeper.”

Just as he finished, Chu Yun noticed people running toward them. Seeing that they were city guards, he collapsed to the ground, feigning unconsciousness.

Kurt was speechless at this performance.

It turned out the city lord’s guards had arrived.

“There, hurry!” The captain in the lead, seeing the scene from afar, rushed over immediately.

When they saw Kurt injured, their expressions changed. “Mage Kurt, are you alright?”

The others quickly lifted Chu Yun, checking his breathing. At that moment, Chu Yun pretended to slowly regain consciousness.

“He’s fine, thankfully.” The captain breathed a sigh of relief seeing Chu Yun unharmed.

The rest of the guards promptly reported back to the city lord’s manor.

Meanwhile, Lord Guo paced back and forth, awaiting news. Fan Congxia, standing nearby, was equally anxious.

When Guo’s wrist vibrated, he put his pinky to his lips and thumb to his ear, answering, “Hello?”

“City Lord, we found them. They were indeed attacked—by a group of professional assassins. Fortunately, Young Master Chu is safe, just unconscious, but…”

“But what?” Lord Guo hurriedly asked.

“Mage Kurt is hurt. Presumably injured while protecting Young Master Chu and fighting the assassins. The injury is serious.”

“What? Get him to the hospital immediately—he must not come to harm!” Lord Guo ordered, having just promised the messenger from the Mage Guild, and now confronted with such a disaster.

After hanging up, Lord Guo turned, his gaze icy, to Fan Congxia.

“I heard Chu Yun is safe, correct?” Fan Congxia had caught part of the phone conversation.

“He’s unharmed,” Lord Guo snorted, “but you, Fan Congxia, are in trouble. The mage in the yellow robe beside Chu Yun was severely injured. The Mage Guild will hold me to account, and I fear I can’t protect you!”

With that, Lord Guo swept out of the sitting room, leaving Fan Congxia in shock, collapsing weakly to the floor.

The Mage Guild!

Mages of the yellow robe—these high-level mages typically travel far and wide, teaching magic freely to train new mages for the various lords. To harm such a mage was a most disgraceful act.

The Mage Guild had zero tolerance for such incidents.

Thinking of this, Fan Congxia felt his limbs grow cold.

At the hospital.

Kurt, forced to stay for treatment, hung on intravenous fluids and wore a cast. Soon, noisy footsteps echoed in the corridor, and two magic apprentices pushed open the ward door, followed by a white-bearded mage in a red robe carrying a staff.

Lord Guo waited outside in the corridor, but the apprentices blocked him from entering.

“Sir,” Kurt attempted to salute, but the red-robed mage pressed him back, inquiring, “How are you?”

“The internal injuries are severe, but with rest, I’ll recover,” said Kurt.

“Then I’ll call others in your place. You should return to headquarters for recovery,” the red-robed elder sighed. “Nearly sacrificed you for a so-called pseudo-genius who hasn’t even been evaluated. I failed to consider everything. Thank goodness you’re alright. Rest assured, no one from the Fan family will get away with it!”

“Sir, it’s worth it!” Kurt hurried to say, “That boy is worth the risk.”

Seeing Kurt’s earnest expression, the superior in red understood he wasn’t speaking lightly, and nodded before turning to Lord Guo waiting at the door. “We must take that child and leave this place.”

Lord Guo’s face changed. “Judge in Red, our lord will not agree!”

The red-robed elder replied sternly, “Whether you agree or not, you must. You just promised our envoy, and now this happens. Who can guarantee the child’s safety next time?”

Lord Guo gritted his teeth. “There will be no next time!”

The red-robed elder said, “Fine. But the Fan family cannot remain! He and the child have already become enemies—there can only be one, not both!”

Lord Guo nodded, “I will see to it that the Fan family disappears from Watchtower City!”
