Chapter 063: Don't Crowd
Chapter 063: Don’t Push
When Wang Meiling saw the look of surprise on Ye Feng’s face, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of annoyance. Did he really think it was beneath him to go shopping with her? There were plenty of people who dreamed of strolling the streets with her—even if they lined up, the queue would stretch from one end of the street to the other. “What’s wrong, you don’t want to? Hmph!”
Watching her pout her enticing red lips, Ye Feng secretly swallowed hard. Wang Meiling looked even more charming when she was angry. “No, it’s not that I don’t want to. I just can’t believe it. You’re actually inviting me to go shopping with you, and you’re even taking me around to see the sights!”
Hearing this, Wang Meiling’s mood instantly improved—truly, a woman’s face changes like the weather in June. She immediately replaced her anger with a sweet smile. “Hehe, that’s because I’m always happy to help. And you’re not from the provincial capital, are you?”
Seeing that captivating smile, Ye Feng knew the crisis had passed. “Right, I’m from You County. I hardly know anything about this city—I might even get lost.” He replied humbly. Of course, as a retired special forces soldier, getting lost in this small city would be a joke.
“Hehe, then you’re lucky to have met me today! I know this city like the back of my hand.” Wang Meiling said with pride. She’d grown up in the provincial capital, and since there were few people to play with her at home when she was young, she often explored the city on her own.
Wang Meiling led Ye Feng all around, the two of them bantering and laughing as they walked. Anyone who saw them would take them for a young couple, lost in their own happy world. They were certainly a perfect match—the man handsome and elegant, the woman pure and lovely, beautiful and captivating. Though their clothes weren’t expensive brands, they each exuded a natural sense of style.
“Wow, this looks delicious!” Along the way, Wang Meiling would buy any food that caught her eye and personally feed it to Ye Feng. He felt completely at ease—a beauty for company would make even pickled vegetables taste delightful. Snacks he’d normally find ordinary now became delicious when offered by her slender, delicate hands.
With his eyes half-closed in enjoyment, Ye Feng slowly chewed a piece of grilled meat she handed him, the aroma filling his mouth. “Mmm... so good... what you picked is really tasty!” His words came out a bit muffled, his mouth still full.
“Of course! You should know who I am. I always pick the best. Honestly, going shopping with me is your good fortune.” Wang Meiling beamed, utterly pleased by his open praise.
Seeing her innocent, radiant smile, Ye Feng felt a strange warmth stir within him. This woman’s beauty went far beyond her pure and enchanting looks—it was her simple, sincere heart that truly captivated him. “Yes, yes, following Miss Wang, I’m sure to gain a few pounds.”
“Hey! What do you think I am, a pig farmer?” Wang Meiling shot back, but there was an even warmer undertone to her words now. “Hehe, but don’t get fat, or you won’t look as good. Yes, your figure is just right now.”
The two of them, chatting and laughing, soon arrived at the city’s busiest street—May Day Avenue. Wang Meiling had told him this, and it was true: the broad street teemed with people, and the mall lights shone brightly along the sidewalks.
“What do you think? Isn’t this nice?” Seeing there wasn’t much surprise in Ye Feng’s eyes, Wang Meiling couldn’t help but ask, puzzled.
“It’s nice.” He smiled to himself. He’d seen streets far more bustling than this—no need to make a fuss. He wasn’t some country bumpkin, amazed by everything he saw. But noticing Wang Meiling’s disappointed expression, he broke into a grin. “But I think the malls here are full of life.”
“Of course! The provincial capital is the political, economic, cultural, and commercial center of the region. May Day Avenue is the heart of the city, so of course it’s lively.” Wang Meiling introduced the area with pride. “Let’s check out that Tianma Mall over there. It’s the biggest mall in town—they have everything you could want.”
Ye Feng wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea of shopping in a mall—he remembered that stifling feeling from the last time he’d accompanied Huang Wei to a jewelry store nearby. “So, are you planning to buy something?”
“If we’re not shopping, why go to the mall?” she retorted. She was trying to find more chances to spend time with him, but he was so dense, so oblivious to her intentions. “Let’s just look around. And... I do want to buy some clothes.” As she said this, a hint of embarrassment colored her cheeks.
“Alright, let’s go then.” Suddenly, Ye Feng noticed her face had turned crimson. “Huh? What’s wrong? Why aren’t we moving? What did you want to buy? Let's go get it together!”
“I... I just want to look around. Let’s go!” Stupid guy, how could she tell him she was planning to buy new underwear? How embarrassing would that be?
As they entered, countless envious glances followed them. Handsome men and beautiful women always became the center of attention wherever they went, but by now, the two were used to it.
Tianma Mall had six floors, designed with a modern, open, and airy style. The first floor was an electronics and appliances market, the second floor focused on handicrafts, the third was a dedicated children’s area, the fourth floor housed the men’s and women’s fashion boutiques—offering a wide selection of brands and prices for every customer—and the sixth floor was a leisure area.
To reach the fourth floor, they took the elevator, which was already packed. Ye Feng and Wang Meiling were practically squeezed inside. “Hey, stop pushing! There’s no room left!” Ye Feng called out, shielding the beauty behind him.
But the crowd didn’t listen; everyone was desperate to get in. Ye Feng and Wang Meiling were slowly pushed into a corner. There was nothing to be done—everyone wanted to take the elevator. Suddenly, Ye Feng felt something soft against his back—a gentle, pillowy pressure that was oddly comfortable. He shifted his back a little.
“Mmm!” Suddenly, he heard a soft gasp. Surprised, he turned to look. Good heavens—his back was pressed against Wang Meiling’s ample chest. Her cheeks were now flushed with embarrassment, her head bowed shyly.
