Chapter 61: As One Might Imagine

Ye Feng’s kisses grew more fervent, wild yet skillful, until Huang Shan began to feel a dull ache at the base of her tongue. She struggled and barely managed to push Ye Feng away, gasping, her tone both coquettish and reproachful, “You little scoundrel, how could you treat Sister Shan like this? You’re hurting me!” Yet, there wasn’t the slightest trace of anger in her now; on the contrary, her eyes brimmed with affection as she gazed at Ye Feng.

Naturally, Ye Feng could see the fire burning in her eyes. He shamelessly pulled her into his arms, laughing, “I couldn’t bear to hurt you, Sister Shan. I only want you to be happy. Right now, I just want to taste your sweet lips again.”

“You little rascal, get up! You’re even taking advantage of me now. How bold you’ve become!” Huang Shan chided him with a playful glint in her eyes, though she made no real attempt to push him away. Instead, she reached out and twisted his ear with her delicate hand. Goodness, how familiar this move was—surely the brothers would remember.

But Ye Feng was no fool. With a deft motion, he pinned Huang Shan’s hands, capturing her once more for a kiss. His hands roamed freely, one bracing against the bed, the other slipping inside her collar, cupping her ample bosom. So soft and full—he could hardly contain his excitement.

Huang Shan, already lost in the intoxication of his kisses and caresses, suddenly jolted awake when his wandering hand pressed against her most sensitive place. Her beautiful eyes flew open in shame and alarm—a woman’s most instinctive reaction. She pushed Ye Feng away with all her might, exclaiming, “Ye Feng, we can’t! Absolutely not.”

Ye Feng was about to speak further, but to his surprise, Huang Shan’s face turned cold. “Leave. We can’t do this. If you insist, I’ll truly hate you. Please, just let me be alone for a while, Ye Feng.”

Seeing that she was on the verge of tears, Ye Feng reluctantly agreed. “Sister Shan, I know you have burdens in your heart. I’m willing to wait for you, even if it means waiting a lifetime.” With that, he slowly stood and left her room.

As soon as he was gone, Huang Shan locked the door, afraid that if he came back, she wouldn’t be able to resist him. Watching him leave, sorrow clouded her face, and tears began to stream down.

Listening to Ye Feng’s retreating footsteps, Huang Shan could no longer hold back her sobs. “Ye Feng, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. It’s not that I don’t love you—I simply can’t love you, nor can I be with you. I can’t ruin your life!”

Her body slowly slid down the door, curling up as she wept softly. Her heart ached with a piercing pain, making her feel as though she might suffocate. Of course, Ye Feng knew nothing of what Huang Shan was going through. He only felt that he’d perhaps been too impatient tonight.

After leaving Huang Shan’s house, Ye Feng sent her a text message to apologize and wish her a good rest, letting her know he would visit again when he could. Then he turned off his phone. When it came to Huang Shan, Ye Feng was at a loss—he truly cared for her, but he had to admit his actions tonight were a bit over the line.

“Sigh, never mind. One step at a time,” Ye Feng muttered helplessly. He hailed a cab, intending to find somewhere to have a drink and drown his sorrows. “Driver, please take me to the nearest bar.”

“Alright. But young man, let me tell you, alcohol isn’t worth it. It not only hurts the heart, it harms the body, too. You seem like a fine fellow, still so young—why go to a bar?” The middle-aged driver, noticing Ye Feng’s dispirited demeanor, offered his advice in earnest.

Ye Feng smiled wryly at the driver’s words. Indeed, why drown his sorrows in drink? That was the way of the weak. He was a man—how could he let this get him down? “No, sir, I’m actually just meeting someone.”

“Ah, I see. You have the look of a gentleman—sharp-eyed, with a heroic spirit between your brows. Surely you’re destined for great things. Don’t let yourself be weighed down by troubles,” the driver remarked solemnly, as if sensing more than he let on.

Ye Feng chuckled. “Are you a fortune teller, sir? How do you know these things?” On closer inspection, Ye Feng realized the man, though advanced in years, still had bright, penetrating eyes.

“No, not at all,” the driver replied, smiling. “I’ve just read a few books. In fact, I can see you’ll meet someone important in your life soon. Cherish that opportunity—don’t let it slip away!” With that, he pressed down on the accelerator, and the car rolled toward the bustling city center.

Along the way, Ye Feng chatted with the driver. When they arrived, Ye Feng handed him a generous tip and told him to keep the change, then headed into the bar. The driver smiled at his departing figure before driving away.

The moment Ye Feng stepped inside, he was enveloped by a lively atmosphere. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a seductive glow that shrouded the hall in a hazy allure. Onstage, men and women swayed their bodies to the music, lost in the revelry—some with golden hair, some wearing earrings, others in crop tops or miniskirts. Behind the bar, the bartender expertly worked his shaker, apparently indifferent to the surrounding spectacle. Ye Feng walked straight to the counter and ordered a beer.

As soon as he arrived, several women in eccentric outfits cast curious glances his way. After all, Ye Feng’s looks were striking, exuding the mature charm of a man. His casual attire fit him perfectly, accentuating his figure. His handsome face and well-defined features were a lethal combination for any beauty.

Yet, for all the flirtatious glances thrown his way, Ye Feng remained unmoved. At most, he responded with a polite smile before returning to his beer. The cool, refreshing brew eased the gloom in his heart, and the bartender exchanged a few words with him from time to time.

After half an hour, Ye Feng left the bar, intending to wander the streets alone and clear his mind. Suddenly, a scream pierced the night behind him, followed by frantic cries for help.
