Chapter 047: Huaqiang's Escape
Chapter 047: Hua Qiang's Escape
Upon hearing Xiao Qi's words, Ye Feng's lips curled into a smile. At this moment, Hua Qiang was entirely within his grasp, and Ye Feng was convinced that Hua Qiang was not the ultimate mastermind behind the scenes. He intended to cast a long line to catch a big fish. Huang Wei, noticing the smile on Ye Feng's face, approached him. “Ye Feng, what’s going on? Why aren’t we chasing him?”
Seeing the anxiety written on Huang Wei’s face, Ye Feng smiled, leaned in close, and whispered in her ear, “Don’t worry. Hua Qiang is under my surveillance now. Your priority should be to stabilize the Justice Gate.”
“Yes, I’ll follow your lead.” This scoundrel—why must he blow warm breath into my ear while speaking? Huang Wei trembled slightly, for Ye Feng’s proximity sent a gentle heat directly into her ear.
Hua Qiang escaped from the Justice Gate, secretly relieved to have survived. As long as the green hills remain, one need not fear for firewood. Thinking of that mysterious person’s skills, Hua Qiang believed he would soon regain his standing. Yet this time, his entire force had been wiped out. The thought of his beloved woman lost forever filled him with sadness.
But now, having come this far, he could only persist—he needed to lay low somewhere for a while. He was certain that under that wretch Huang Wei’s leadership, the Justice Gate would scour the city for him. With this in mind, Hua Qiang turned his car toward the west side of You County.
“Hey, Zheng Yi, where is Hua Qiang headed? Isn’t he driving out of town?” Xiao Qi, watching Hua Qiang’s car, was puzzled, for the speed was not frantic.
“He’s probably going out of town. Xiao Qi, keep an eye on him. Since he’s not rushing, he hasn’t noticed us. Stay close; if he makes any moves, we’ll see it.” Zheng Yi considered carefully.
Hua Qiang was indeed unaware he was being followed, but to be cautious, he decided to circle the outskirts first, then slip quietly to his intended destination. There, a few loyal subordinates remained—his last assets.
“Damn you, Huang Wei, this is all your fault!” The more Hua Qiang thought, the angrier he became. If only he’d sent everyone after that vile woman at once! What a pity, all those men he’d trained so diligently, ruined by that brat Ye Feng. Once he regrouped, Ye Feng would be his first target. Hua Qiang cursed Ye Feng incessantly in his heart.
Hua Qiang’s car circled the west side of town twice, then headed toward an abandoned factory outside the city. Xiao Qi watched closely and followed, but soon he and Zheng Yi saw Hua Qiang’s car stop in the distance. They hurried out to investigate, only to find the vehicle empty.
“Brother Feng, s-sorry, we lost Hua Qiang!” Xiao Qi called Ye Feng, embarrassed. He’d always been confident in his driving, but this time he’d lost the target.
“It’s fine. Hua Qiang has been operating here for years; it’s only natural. Come back, we’ll regroup and plan.” Ye Feng replied thoughtfully. In truth, Hua Qiang had jumped out at a bend, quickly slipping into a vacant room in the factory.
He saw a car following slowly behind, and felt a surge of pride at his vigilance. He hid, watching Xiao Qi make calls, secretly delighted. Once Xiao Qi and Zheng Yi left, Hua Qiang emerged, got in his car, and sped off toward the east side of town.
Soon, his car entered a luxurious villa district. As soon as he got out, Hua Qiang pulled out his phone and dialed a familiar number. “Hello, this is Huang Tianba. I want to speak to Huang Wei.”
“I’m sorry, there’s no Huang Wei here, only Huang Shan. Are you mistaken?” The cold voice on the other end, tinged with a hint of murderous intent, sent a chill down Hua Qiang’s spine. Yet only such a person could help him now.
“No, I want Huang Wei, not Huang Shan.” This was their agreed code: if Hua Qiang initiated the call, he’d use this phrase; if the other party called first, they’d ask for Huang Tianba.
“Alright, I’ll get Huang Wei for you.” The man seemed to smile. “Hua Qiang, is your mission accomplished?”
Hearing the man’s pleased tone, Hua Qiang’s hatred for Ye Feng and Huang Wei intensified. Someday, he’d make them pay dearly. “Sorry, we failed.”
“What? Failed? Didn’t you say there’d be no problems?” Hua Qiang heard the sound of a table being slammed, startling him—clearly, the other party was furious.
“I…I don’t know what happened. Huang Wei had a formidable young man with her, and because of him, our almost-successful plan fell apart!” Hua Qiang gritted his teeth, as if only dismembering Ye Feng and Huang Wei could ease his wrath.
“Where are you now? I’ll come down and meet you. Give me your exact location.” The man’s tone was curt. Hua Qiang quickly provided his address, then went to shower and rest, knowing it would take time for the man to arrive from the provincial capital.
Hours later, Hua Qiang’s phone rang—it was the man. “Hello! Who are you looking for?” came the impatient reply.
“Come downstairs immediately. I’m right outside.”
“Yes, yes, please wait, I’m coming.” Hearing the icy voice, Hua Qiang knew his failure had deeply disappointed them. He dressed in haste and hurried downstairs.
“Sorry, I messed up this time. You have to help me!” Now, several burly men stood beside the man—clearly experts. Hua Qiang’s hope rested solely on him.
“Tell me everything. What happened exactly?” The man’s face was expressionless, eyes fixed coldly on Hua Qiang, who felt uneasy under that gaze. He recounted the entire affair.
“So, this Ye Feng fellow is no ordinary man.” The man’s eyes bore into Hua Qiang, as if reading his soul. Hua Qiang nodded, shifting all blame onto Huang Wei and Ye Feng.
“You must help me! If you don’t, I’m finished. Justice Gate is still after me!” Hua Qiang, dejected, knelt before the man—his only hope now.
“Well, it seems you can’t use your current identity anymore. I’ll arrange a new one for you, so you can start over.” The man looked thoughtful. “By the way, does anyone know you’re here?”
