Chapter 015: Grace and Wisdom
Chapter 015: Grace Inside and Out
As Ye Feng and Huang Wei entered the shopping mall, they immediately became the center of attention. The handsome man and the beautiful woman walking together naturally drew envious glances, especially from the men who cast longing looks at Ye Feng. Comparing oneself to others could be exasperating—how could a guy who didn’t even look as good as themselves be so close to such a stunning woman?
This beauty was truly something else. With her alluring curves and ravishing face, not to mention her killer figure, even her elegant feet alone were enough to captivate any onlooker. Her long, fair legs made it impossible to look away. Ye Feng noticed more than a few lecherous eyes focused on Huang Wei and quickly moved to shield her with his own body.
“What… what are you trying to do?” Huang Wei suddenly realized Ye Feng was getting closer and, startled, questioned him. Was this guy trying to take advantage of her? No way would she let this scoundrel succeed. She immediately crossed her arms protectively over her chest, as if afraid Ye Feng would ogle her.
What the hell, why does she think so poorly of me? Ye Feng shot her a glare. Honestly, this woman was all curves and no brains. Couldn’t she see those wolves eyeing her hungrily? He was only trying to help. “Hey, Huang Wei, listen, I’m trying to help you. Didn’t you notice those creeps staring at you? I figured I’d block their view.”
“Hmph, what’s the big deal? With my looks, of course people are going to admire me. It’s only natural. You’re just my bodyguard—no need to meddle so much.” Huang Wei rolled her eyes at him, but inside, she felt a strange sweetness at his concern.
“So, miss, what are we shopping for?” Ye Feng asked, figuring he’d just follow Huang Wei’s lead. He didn’t know the provincial capital well anyway. But the thought of shopping worried him; he remembered from experience how exhausting it was to accompany women shopping. The mere memory sent a chill down his spine.
“Hehe, first we’re getting you some new clothes! Otherwise, people will think I’m mistreating my bodyguard, and that would be a serious accusation. Afterwards, we’ll pick out a jade pendant for my aunt.” Huang Wei blinked her large eyes as she spoke. She simply couldn’t stand the way Ye Feng was dressed right now; he looked every bit the country bumpkin come to the city.
“Well… okay.” Honestly, Ye Feng already had clothes and didn’t see the need to waste money, but then again, wasn’t he a millionaire now? Becoming rich had been ridiculously easy—all he’d done was teach a few punks a lesson.
Ahem, this trip to the provincial capital was clearly going to be anything but simple!
Without giving him a chance to protest, Huang Wei dragged Ye Feng into a brand-name clothing store. Now, she seemed nothing like the domineering woman he'd first met. Instead, she resembled a girl next door, cheerfully pulling her elder brother by the hand as they entered the store.
“Miss Huang, I can walk by myself, you know.” Ye Feng found it hard to speak—Huang Wei wasn’t just holding his hand, but pressing her ample chest against his arm. The sensation was incredible. He hadn't expected her assets to feel so soft and plush, different from Aunt Wen’s allure, yet equally enchanting and mesmerizing.
“I already told you—back at the hotel you can call me Miss Huang or General Manager, but when it’s just the two of us, you should call me Wei’er. That’s what my father calls me,” Huang Wei said, her cheeks reddening with embarrassment. She couldn’t believe she was inviting a man to call her by such an intimate nickname. It was mortifying; she wished she could disappear into the ground.
“Is… is that really okay?” Ye Feng could hardly believe it. Was this the same Huang Wei he’d first met—the haughty, imposing woman whose presence few men could match? Now she seemed completely different.
“Hmph, what’s wrong with that? Or would you rather call me Auntie?” At this, Huang Wei grew annoyed. In her hometown, she was one of the most sought-after women; countless men longed for the chance to get close to her. Yet this guy hardly paid her any mind, which left her feeling oddly frustrated.
She was so used to being the center of attention, surrounded by admirers, that Ye Feng’s indifference was both refreshing and intriguing. She mused to herself that the number of men who had pursued her could fill several soccer teams.
“Auntie? I really can’t bring myself to call you that.” Seeing Huang Wei’s fair skin flush with anger and the rise and fall of her chest, Ye Feng’s thoughts briefly wandered. “I… I wouldn’t dare. How about Xiao Wei, then? Is that all right?” he asked tentatively.
Hearing him call her Xiao Wei felt even more intimate, and Huang Wei was secretly pleased. She realized she enjoyed talking with this guy more and more, even if he sometimes embarrassed her with his words. “All right, then.”
With a smile, Huang Wei led Ye Feng into the mall. The provincial capital’s shopping centers truly lived up to their reputation. As soon as they walked in, Ye Feng was struck by the luxurious atmosphere and the bustling crowds. Everything anyone could want was available, and the place was alive with people.
Huang Wei noticed the excitement in Ye Feng’s eyes and laughed. Clearly, the rascal liked it here. She took on the air of a devoted wife, introducing all the stores to Ye Feng, personally picking out clothes for him, and looking absolutely delighted when he tried them on. Anyone watching would have thought she was a newlywed helping her husband choose his wardrobe.
When Ye Feng emerged from the fitting room in casual wear, he was a revelation—tall, handsome, every inch the heartthrob. Both Huang Wei and the sales assistant were stunned.
“Wow, miss, you really know how to pick out clothes. This gentleman looks fantastic—so well put together! You must be a beautiful, intelligent wife,” the salesgirl gushed.
Upon hearing this, both their faces flushed with embarrassment. They weren’t even that close yet—wife and husband? Ye Feng felt faint, while Huang Wei, flustered and pleased, quietly moved to another rack to pick out more clothes for him.
