Chapter 138: Go All Out
Dong hastily pushed Xiaomei off his lap because that ringtone was exclusive—it only sounded when his boss called him. At the same time, Dong signaled for Xiaomei to leave immediately. He picked up the phone and said, "Hello!" Dong hadn't even managed to pull up his trousers yet.
"Tell me, what is going on with the events that took place today?" A chilling voice came from the other end of the phone, making Dong shudder involuntarily. A boss was a boss; that aura of authority was truly terrifying. Still, Dong feigned ignorance and asked, "What events?"
"I mean that newly opened small company over on Qingjiang Road. What's the story behind it? And why have I heard that not only did Huang Shan attend the opening ceremony, but that bitch Huang Wei showed up too?" Jia asked, his tone still icy cold, sending another chill down Dong's spine.
"I—I don't know either. I just received word myself and have already sent people out to investigate. I'll report back to you later!" Dong replied respectfully. He never dared to fool Jia. Furthermore, Jia possessed a hidden reserve of strength that Dong knew nothing about; Dong only knew that Jia was formidable.
"Hmph, you need to report on this issue sooner. Of course, for a company with such potential, you can try to bring them into the fold first. If that doesn't work, wipe them out directly. Remember to cut the weeds and eliminate the roots," Jia said with a sinister laugh. Damn it, a good show was about to be staged in the provincial capital. The Huang Group had kept a low profile before, but lately they seemed eager for the spotlight. First it was the Morning Dragon Club, and now it was the opening of some small company.
"Yes, yes, I know how to handle it," Dong stammered, wiping the sweat from his brow. He wouldn't dare treat any of Jia's commands lightly, especially since Jia seemed quite displeased about this matter. After all, Jia had always wanted to deal with Huang Shan and Huang Wei. Now that both of them were openly supporting this security company, there was bound to be some trouble—
"Boss, after some investigation, we found out that the newly opened security company was actually started by a few retired veterans. It doesn't have any major ties to the Huang Group. As for the Justice Gate, it's just a cooperative relationship," Dong's subordinates weren't completely incompetent; they quickly dug up some information. Of course, those were only surface-level details, though Ye Feng had already guessed most of it anyway.
"Oh, so you're saying that company is just an ordinary establishment, and that Huang Shan and Huang Wei only attended the opening out of friendship?" Dong asked with keen interest. After all, opportunities to see Huang Shan and Huang Wei appearing together were rare. Today's Central Qing Province Thirty-Minute News had even broadcasted the story, giving Xingfeng Security a fantastic promotional boost. At that moment, Dong had seriously wanted to smash his television set, damn it.
"Yes, you could put it that way. As for their firearms licenses, we heard they were issued by the Provincial Department of Public Security. The quantity is small, only about a dozen or so," the man said with a smile. Damn it, what was the big deal about a dozen guns?
Hearing this, Dong felt relieved. Hell, his own security department downstairs had over a hundred armed guards; a mere dozen guns was nothing. "Hmph, it seems this company isn't much after all—weak strength. By the way, have you guys made contact with their person in charge?"
"We did, but they completely ignored us and even spewed nonsense about wanting independent and autonomous development. Damn it!" Mentioning this made the middle-aged man's blood boil. He had thought that dropping the name of the Hualian Group would make them obediently cooperate, but those people simply didn't give a damn.
"What the hell? Send me the materials you've gathered right now. I need to study them carefully. You guys can dismiss yourselves." Thinking he should report this properly to the Big Boss, Dong planned to let the boss give the word to crush this tiny security company flat, showing everyone the consequences of refusing to cooperate with them.
The man respectfully stepped down. Dong hurriedly opened the files and reported the contents to Jia. Upon hearing the report, Jia flew into a rage as well: "Damn it, if they're given face and refuse to take it, go ahead and wipe out that company right now. Remember, make it clean and efficient so nobody can trace it back to us!"
"Yes, Boss, rest assured!" Dong said with mounting excitement. It had been a while since he had a good thrill. "I'll lead the team personally tonight and make sure to stir up quite a spectacle. Please rest assured, Boss!"
"Alright then, go ahead and do as you see fit. Also, remember to give a heads-up to the police force and grease some palms," Jia instructed before hanging up. The situation in the provincial capital seemed to be growing chaotic. Although everything looked calm on the surface, Jia always felt that his plans weren't proceeding as smoothly as they should—
Night gradually descended. Chu Yun and the others, exhausted from a full day's work, intended to rest. The building housing the Xingfeng Security Company spanned five floors. According to its layout: the first floor served as the general business hall; the second floor handled major transactions, specifically catering to large-scale business; the third floor was designated for storing valuables; the fourth floor housed the break room, the general manager's office, and the monitoring room; while the fifth floor was a restricted zone reserved exclusively for Ye Feng.
"Oh my god, I'm so exhausted. This is way more tiring than marching into battle," Chu Yun groaned as soon as he entered the room, collapsing face-first onto the bed. Today had started with non-stop interviews from media friends, followed by heavy drinking and dining with everyone, and culminated in a steady stream of company executives arriving in the afternoon to exchange pleasantries. Chu Yun felt like his bones were about to fall apart, damn it.
"Come on, Brother Yun, you're the general manager—complaining about backaches while sitting pretty!" Chen Xiang scoffed, looking at Chu Yun with disdain. He was worn out too, having spent the entire day busy recruiting personnel. Since the company had just opened, aside from the few core members brought over from the Morning Dragon Club, there were hardly any staff members left, necessitating a fresh round of hiring.
"Exactly. You're the general manager; getting a little tired comes with the territory," Liu Zhenhua chimed in, equally dismissive. Damn it, Chu Yun was the general manager, which meant he got to chat up all those gorgeous women at noon. It must have felt amazing! Those beauties were exceptionally radiant and could talk a blue streak.
"Damn it, look at the two of you whining. If I'd known, I would've made you general managers instead—being a deputy general manager is even better since the big boss takes the blame for everything, while you two get to flirt with pretty girls all day long," Chu Yun retorted, sounding thoroughly disgruntled. Even though he was the general manager, he had been bogged down by endless socializing and hadn't found a single moment to discuss life and ideals with any lovely young women.
