While Liu Xiangjiang was busy finalizing the products for the next day's sales, Huang He was already seated in his Mercedes-Benz, having left the hotel to prepare for his return to Wenzhou.

An entirely unexpected situation occurred. As his driver steered the car out of the hotel’s underground garage, a person suddenly darted out. Although the driver slammed on the brakes in time, there was still a slight collision with the front of the vehicle.

"Boss, we’ve hit someone!" the driver said, clearly nervous.

"Is it a scammer? Go down and check if it’s a real accident or a setup. If it’s real, take them to the hospital. If it’s a scam, call the police. We aren't giving these people a chance to make any dirty money!" Boss Huang said firmly. The driver nodded and stepped out.

"Young lady, are you alright?" Upon getting out, the driver saw that the person hit was a girl in her early twenties. She wore plain clothes, carried a large backpack, and had her hair pulled back into a high ponytail—she looked every bit like a student.

*Probably not a scammer,* the driver thought, experienced enough to know that a young girl like this wouldn't resort to such tactics. First, they rarely had the nerve to throw themselves at a car. Second, if they really wanted money, there were easier and more lucrative ways to earn it; they wouldn't choose something so physically painful and inefficient. Most importantly, the girl was beautiful, and beautiful girls were even less likely to pull a stunt like this.

As expected, the student shook her head as soon as she saw the driver. "Sir, I’m fine. It was my fault for not looking where I was going. It has nothing to do with you. Please, go ahead; I’ll just find a nearby clinic to get it checked out."

What a sweet child! The driver was moved. He noticed a thumb-sized scrape on her knee, bleeding fresh red. Overcome with sympathy, he hesitated, walked back to the rear window to relay the situation to Huang He, and whispered, "Boss, perhaps we should..."

"No need to say more. Have her get in; we’ll take her to the nearest clinic. Since our car hit her, you pay for the medical fees and give her a few hundred yuan as well," Huang He said, his own sense of pity stirred by the girl's attitude.

With the driver’s assistance, the girl climbed into the passenger seat. As she dabbed her knee with a tissue, she looked around the car with curiosity. "Sir, what year is this car? It feels a bit vintage!"

The driver remained silent, waiting for orders, but Huang He spoke up. "It’s a 1992 Mercedes. It was quite expensive back then, though it’s certainly a bit battered now. Perhaps it is time for me to change cars."

"You could afford a Mercedes in '92? You must be very wealthy, sir!" the girl exclaimed in admiration.

"It was my parents' money, not mine. I’m not that capable," Huang He said casually, indulging in a bit of humble-bragging.

Silence filled the car for a while. As they approached a hospital after a few traffic lights, the girl couldn't help but ask, "Sir, are you a businessman? Are you hiring? Or could you perhaps introduce me to a job?"

"You're looking for work?" Huang He asked, curious.

"Yes. I’ve been in Shanghai for three months, but I haven't found anything suitable. If this continues, I'll have to go back to the Northeast, and I don't want to do that," she said, head bowed.

"You're a university student, aren't you? With a degree like that, it shouldn't be hard to find work," Huang He noted.

"I am, but my major is quite specialized—Music. It’s hard to find a job in my field; there are no positions available on the market. Sure, there are jobs as waitresses or retail clerks, but I’m not willing to settle for that. It would be a disservice to my parents, who spent so much money and effort raising me," she explained.

"Music, I see," Huang He nodded. In 2021, an era of booming entertainment, music majors had it easier, but in 2001, music graduates either played for themselves or fought tooth and nail for spots at a few music companies. Most ended up unemployed and started out in service roles.

"I'm not from Shanghai, and I’m heading back to Wenzhou soon. I can't help you," Huang He replied honestly.

"Oh, I see. Thank you, sir," the girl said, turning back to face him. Her eyes were brimming with tears—whether from the pain of her wound or the harsh reality of her situation, it was hard to tell. She looked so pitiful and beautiful that Huang He felt his heart being struck repeatedly.

The girl was truly stunning—fair, delicate skin, features as refined as fine jade, and that teary-eyed expression was more delicate and pure than even the most famous stars at their peak. It was a face no man could resist.

Huang He, being a normal man, felt his heart stir. He thought that even if this music student didn't have much experience, having her around would be easy on the eyes. Besides, music was part of his broader business plans; she might be a useful talent.

"Well," Huang He reasoned with himself, "she is definitely a rare talent, not that I have any ulterior motives." He then asked, "Miss, are you able to handle a life of traveling all over the country?"

"I can! As long as there is work and money to be made, I have no problems with that!" she replied immediately.

"Very well. I happen to be short a secretary. You can come and give it a try," Huang He said, his eyes narrowing.

"Haimei, thank you for the plan. It worked! I’ve successfully entered the Jiangnan Group, and I’m already working right next to a leader. Now I can finally avenge my brother-in-law!" After getting her wound bandaged at a small clinic, Wang Danrou took a phone out of her bag and spoke excitedly.

"That's nothing. You're so beautiful, you didn't even need to use any schemes. Any man would want to take you into his harem... oh, excuse me, his company!" the girl named Haimei replied in a voice as soft and charming as her name suggested.

"But Danrou, is it really worth sacrificing yourself for that cheap brother-in-law of yours? You haven't fallen for him, have you?" Haimei teased.

"Don't talk nonsense! I just can't stand seeing my brother-in-law losing his hair because of that damn company. Besides, my brother-in-law's money is my sister's money; I'm doing this for myself!" Wang Danrou said, blushing as she waved her small fist.

"Fine, have it your way. But I hear this Huang He has a sister-in-law too. Don't let her get the better of you!"

"Nonsense! I'm not competing with them. I'm just here to gather intelligence so I can tell my brother-in-law and let him vent his anger," Wang Danrou said with a grin.

"So, what job did this Chairman Huang arrange for you?"

"It seems to be a secretary position."

"A secretary? Danrou, I think you should reconsider. That's too dangerous. That guy is a lecher; you'll be eaten alive!"

"Uh, it doesn't seem like I'm his personal secretary. I'm going to be a secretary for a general manager named Leng Zhiruo," Wang Danrou said, tilting her head.
