Chapter 120: Drinking
“Master!”
When Cao Yuxiang saw that kick, he not only felt no pity for his beloved car, but was instead so impressed by Yang Jiekai that he nearly knelt on the spot.
“Master, please take me as your disciple!”
Cao Yuxiang sprang forward and grabbed Yang Jiekai’s clothes, refusing to let go. “Master, teach me how to deliver a kick like that! Do you practice the Foshan Shadowless Kick? Master, if you don’t accept me today, I—I’ll cry right here for you to see!”
Yang Jiekai was rendered speechless. This fellow had been throwing his weight around only moments ago, and now he was crying his eyes out. In that respect, he was rather similar to Wang Xiang.
In the end, Yang Jiekai and Han Ning simply could not withstand Cao Yuxiang’s relentless pestering. They reluctantly agreed, thinking that they had to get rid of this nuisance first; otherwise, there was no telling what kind of trouble he might stir up.
“Thank you, Master and Mistress! I’ll buy you both drinks!” Cao Yuxiang beamed the moment they accepted him.
“No need for drinks. You should go home first—”
Han Ning had not finished speaking when Yang Jiekai interrupted her. “All right. You lead the way, and we’ll follow behind.”
“Got it!”
As Cao Yuxiang scampered off to fetch his car, Han Ning stared at Yang Jiekai in speechless disbelief and asked why he had agreed to go drinking with him.
Yang Jiekai shrugged. “With the way you’re feeling right now, looking at the stars won’t be enough. You need somewhere to let it all out. Besides, someone else is paying. Tonight, the two of us can drink to our hearts’ content.”
As fate would have it, the place Cao Yuxiang took Yang Jiekai and Han Ning was none other than the Dragon Palace Bar, a place Yang Jiekai knew better than anywhere.
“Master, Mistress, please don’t look down on this place just because it’s small. The drinks here are excellent. They even have authentic wine from French vineyards!”
Cao Yuxiang led the way as he spoke, while Yang Jiekai followed behind with a wry smile. He was certain he knew the Dragon Palace Bar hundreds of times better than Cao Yuxiang did.
Fortunately, Long Xiaoman had gone out of town on business over the past few days and was not in Anhai. Otherwise, Yang Jiekai would have been in an awkward position. He knew that Long Xiaoman liked him. If she saw him bringing another woman here, she might fly into a rage and once again take up those two gleaming machetes of hers.
They ordered a booth. Cao Yuxiang was generous, immediately ordering several bottles of expensive red wine before they began to drink.
“Wifey, can you dance?” Yang Jiekai asked Han Ning.
Han Ning had drunk a couple of glasses too many, and her pretty face was flushed. She nodded. “A little.”
“Good. I’ll show you a thing or two!”
With that, Yang Jiekai tugged Han Ning toward the dance floor.
“Master, how about a dance-off?” Cao Yuxiang asked, eager to try his hand.
“Come on, then. The loser drinks!”
With the beat setting the pace, the two began taking turns showing off their moves.
As a spoiled young heir, Cao Yuxiang was thoroughly familiar with places like this. He danced with effortless confidence, pulling off several difficult moves in succession and earning cheers from the crowd.
Yang Jiekai was no less impressive. He performed a series of Thomas spins followed by a sweeping windmill, drawing even louder applause.
In the end, Yang Jiekai dragged Han Ning into the middle of the dance floor as well. With no choice—and after several glasses of wine—Han Ning’s body began to sway with the music. She launched into a nimble dance routine, winning wave after wave of cheers from those around her.
Just as Yang Jiekai was admiring his wife’s dancing, several men suddenly rushed over from the side. Laughing, they surrounded Han Ning and began dancing around her.
Han Ning frowned and tried to leave, but one of the men seized her by the arm. “Hey, sweetheart, don’t go. Come dance with us!”
Smack!
At that moment, Cao Yuxiang suddenly smashed a liquor bottle over the man’s head. Without saying a word, he charged forward and began beating him.
The others nearby quickly realized what was happening and joined the brawl. Cao Yuxiang had some fighting experience himself, so he did not suffer much at first. But as the fight dragged on, he gradually began to lose ground.
Yang Jiekai, meanwhile, was speechless. He had intended to bring Han Ning out for a relaxing evening and had no plans to cause trouble. He had never expected Cao Yuxiang to have such a short fuse. He was almost as bad as Qin Feng.
“Stop fighting! Oh, what are we going to do?”
Han Ning was frightened by the scene and tugged at Yang Jiekai’s sleeve. “Go pull them apart!”
Yang Jiekai rubbed his nose with interest. “Don’t panic. This fellow wants to become my disciple, doesn’t he? Let me see what kind of talent he has first.”
There were five or six opponents. Cao Yuxiang fought with every ounce of strength he possessed and managed to knock two of them down, but at last he could hold out no longer and was kicked to the floor.
Yang Jiekai gave a secret nod of approval.
Not bad. The boy had the makings of a fighter.
As the saying went, a true expert could tell whether someone had skill after seeing them make a single move. Although Cao Yuxiang had lost, Yang Jiekai could see that his foundation was solid. With proper training, he could become quite formidable.
“Wifey, do you like watching movies?” Yang Jiekai suddenly asked.
“What are you asking me that for? Hurry up and help him!”
Han Ning watched anxiously as Cao Yuxiang lay on the ground being kicked and punched. She had no idea why Yang Jiekai had suddenly brought up movies.
Yang Jiekai smiled faintly and slowly rolled up his sleeves. “If you like movies, then I’ll give you a live action film right now.”
As he spoke, Yang Jiekai suddenly seized one of the men by the back of the neck and yanked him backward. He drove an elbow into the man’s chest with tremendous force, dropping him without so much as a groan.
Yang Jiekai did not pause. One sweeping kick sent two men crashing down, followed by a pair of hooks that knocked out two more. The last man suffered the worst fate of all: Yang Jiekai lifted him over his head and hurled him away.
“Master, you’re incredible!”
Cao Yuxiang had been beaten until his face looked like a swollen pig’s, but the first thing he did after getting back on his feet was praise Yang Jiekai.
Yang Jiekai shrugged helplessly. Men of this caliber were nothing more than small fry to him. Even if dozens more had come, he would hardly have taken them seriously.
“Master, come on! Let’s find another place and keep drinking!”
Although Cao Yuxiang had been beaten black and blue, he behaved as though nothing had happened and continued shouting that they should go drinking.
“Why change places? Isn’t this one fine?”
Cao Yuxiang waved over a waiter, pulled out a thick stack of bills, and handed it to him. “This should cover the damage.”
Only then did he turn to Yang Jiekai. “Master, you don’t understand. There are only a few of us right now. After a fight breaks out in a nightclub, we have to leave immediately. Otherwise, it won’t be long before the other side brings reinforcements to take revenge.”
Yang Jiekai stared at him for a moment before bursting into laughter. “Then let them bring whoever they want. Come on, let’s keep drinking. Where were we? Oh, it’s my wife’s turn. I’ll drink this one for her…”
Perhaps it was the alcohol, but Han Ning, who was usually rather reserved in nightclubs, had loosened up as well. She paid little attention to the earlier incident and began drinking freely with Yang Jiekai.
Taking advantage of a trip to the restroom, Yang Jiekai quietly made a phone call. After speaking a few brief words, he returned to his seat and resumed drinking.
Before long, a group of burly men came storming toward them.
“Damn it, their reinforcements are here! Master, Mistress, you two leave first. I’ll hold them off!”
Cao Yuxiang was not frightened in the slightest. He grabbed a liquor bottle and stood up.
Yang Jiekai waved for him to sit down, then smiled cryptically. “Let me show you a magic trick.”
“What trick?” Cao Yuxiang asked, puzzled.
Han Ning was a little dizzy from the alcohol, but she could still see that the furious men were heading straight for them. She hurriedly said, “What kind of trick? Think of a way for us to get out of here!”
Yang Jiekai narrowed his eyes and smiled. “What if I turned into a host of heavenly soldiers and generals and threw these men out? Would you believe me?”
As he spoke, the group of burly men reached Yang Jiekai. One of them—the man whose face Yang Jiekai had swollen like a pig’s—pointed at him.
“Boss, that’s them!”
One of the burly men pointed a machete at Yang Jiekai. “Were you the one who beat up my brother?”
Yang Jiekai nodded. “You have ten seconds to leave. If you do, I guarantee you’ll walk out of here safely.”
The man froze for a moment, then flew into a rage. “Screw your mother! You’re looking to die!”
With that, he swung the machete down.
Yang Jiekai did not move an inch.
Just as the blade was about to strike, a liquor bottle suddenly flew in from the side and smashed into the man’s head.
Immediately afterward, several men wielding cleavers and steel pipes rushed out from all directions and charged the group of burly men without a word.
The entire bar descended into chaos.
Yang Jiekai, meanwhile, calmly refilled everyone’s glasses and narrowed his eyes with a smile. “Those are the heavenly soldiers and generals I summoned. Ignore them. Let’s keep drinking.”
They drank until dawn was nearly breaking. To Yang Jiekai’s surprise, apart from the flush in her cheeks, Han Ning showed no sign of drunkenness at all. He would never have guessed that she could hold her liquor so well.
“Wifey, I never realized you could drink that much,” Yang Jiekai teased as he drove.
Han Ning sat in the passenger seat and let out a long breath. “I’ve always been able to drink since I was little. I just rarely do. By the way, who were those people who came to help us fight just now?”
Yang Jiekai knew she was referring to the men from the Dragon Palace Bar, but naturally he could not tell her the truth. He could hardly say that they were all his subordinates.
“I told you. It was a magic trick. They were heavenly soldiers and generals I summoned to protect my wife!”
“Oh, get lost!”
Han Ning was not that gullible, of course, but she had no intention of pressing him further. She knew that when this man did not want to talk about something, questioning him was pointless.
The two of them fell silent. When they were almost home, Han Ning suddenly turned her head and asked, “Did you mean what you said earlier?”
Yang Jiekai was taken aback. “What did I say?”
Han Ning looked at him seriously. “When you said that we were the very best of friends.”
Yang Jiekai nodded with equal seriousness. “Of course. From now on, whenever you need anything, just give me a call and I promise—”
“That’s not what I meant!”
Han Ning looked at Yang Jiekai through clenched teeth. “If we’re such good friends, then could you please take your hand off my thigh?”
