-003- JOJO Breeding House
Arriving on the suburban streets, everything felt novel and strange. After all, this was a world where humans and elves coexisted.
On the sidewalks, it wasn’t dogs that middle-aged women were walking, but Doremias. At the curb, the job of cleaning windows was handled by Suction Puppets. In the nearby café, all the staff were Maid Spirits.
All of it overturned Tong Si’s understanding of the world.
Blending into this world of elves as seamlessly as possible was now his most pressing task.
His first destination was a flower and bird shop. Aside from elves, this world also had birds from his original world. The shop sold pet birds.
“Welcome!” Upon seeing a customer, Song Xin put down her phone and came over. As a newly opened shop, business wasn’t booming, but Song Xin wasn’t discouraged. Now, she finally had her first customer.
Tong Si stepped inside and gave the place a casual glance. The décor was rather distinctive, though it wasn’t exactly suited to a breeder’s house.
“Excuse me, are you looking to buy a pet bird or flowers?” Song Xin approached him, her manner very polite in the face of such a rare customer.
Tong Si was in no hurry to make a purchase. Instead, he found himself interested in the flowers in front of him. The shop was well-stocked—even watering tools suitable for gardening were available.
“I’d like to buy some flowers and grass suitable for planting in a courtyard,” he said.
“For the courtyard?” Song Xin touched a finger to her lips, hesitating. As a novice shop owner, she lacked experience and wavered between several varieties.
“These flowers and grasses are all suitable for courtyards. If you want something more convenient, you could also plant some potted varieties,” she suggested.
“Potted plants?” Tong Si considered. “Let’s go with these, then. Can they be transplanted?”
He knew many kinds of flowers and grasses could be transplanted, though it could get troublesome.
“They can. Please come register your address, and we can schedule a delivery time. I’ll bring them over for you,” Song Xin replied, excitement in her eyes. She didn’t want to miss her first sale.
“Alright.” Tong Si went to the counter to write down his address, nearly making a mistake as he filled it in.
After purchasing the flowers and grasses, Tong Si contacted a contractor for house renovations.
Renovations in this world weren’t as slow as in his previous life. The contractor promised to finish in just three days.
...
“Eevee, try taking this.”
After returning home from his errands, Tong Si decided to test the aptitude enhancement elixir. Giving it to an elf directly was a little risky, but with only three bottles from the system, he couldn’t bear to waste them on experiments.
“Vee?” Eevee took the milky-white oral solution from Tong Si’s hand, fiddling with the bottle between its tiny paws.
“This will improve your aptitude, Eevee. Go ahead and drink it.”
“Vee!” Eevee didn’t understand a word, but it never hesitated when offered something to drink. Tong Si helped unscrew the cap, and Eevee downed it in one gulp.
There wasn’t much liquid—just like a small bottle of medicine from his former world.
At first, Eevee’s expression was one of enjoyment—the drink was smooth, and there was a hint of coolness.
Two seconds later, its face froze, as if it had tasted something odd, and it began to gag.
Seeing this, the Elekid nearby looked on in confusion.
Tong Si waved to Elekid, signaling it to stay calm.
Before long, Eevee’s whole body began to heat up, its fur standing on end—almost on par with its evolved form, Jolteon.
This state persisted for half an hour before Eevee finally returned to normal. However, it was now surrounded by a foul smell, drenched in sweat.
Tong Si quickly reopened the data panel.
Elf: Eevee
Level: 3
Aptitude: Standard
Eevee’s aptitude had risen from Common to Standard, and its level had increased by one!
Tong Si was thrilled. The elf aptitude enhancement elixir from the system truly worked.
It was as if a door had swung open for him. No matter the initial aptitude of an elf, as long as he had enough enhancement elixirs, Tong Si was confident he could raise any of them to pseudo-mythical rank.
Even in this world, elves of pseudo-mythical aptitude were exceedingly rare. Even the great families couldn’t easily produce one.
“Vee?” Eevee saw Tong Si so excited but had no idea what was happening. It rubbed its sweat-soaked fur, clearly uncomfortable.
“I’ll give you a bath right away!”
Tong Si scooped up Eevee and headed to the bathroom to wash it clean.
[Beep—boop]
[Congratulations, host, on completing the side quest: successfully improve an elf’s aptitude. Reward: 10,000 points.]
[New quest added: Complete your first elf battle.]
“Ten thousand points?” Tong Si was intrigued.
The data panel now showed his current points total: 10,000.
Soon, a shop menu appeared on the panel, neatly categorized.
[Skill List]
[Berry List]
[Item List]
[Energy Cube List]
[Elf Aptitude Enhancement Elixir List]
[To be developed...]
The skill list, as expected, included every known and unknown skill in the world. Even the more common skills cost 10,000 points each, while the rarer ones required millions.
For now, those were well out of his reach.
The berry list contained seeds for every kind of berry, both known and unknown. He could buy them ready-made or as seeds to plant himself.
The item list included things like Metal Coat and other evolutionary items, as well as held items that boosted an elf’s battle power, such as the Rocky Helmet.
The energy cube list was particularly interesting. In this world, energy cubes were all single-colored and used only to feed elves. The system store, however, offered multi-colored energy cubes, each with different effects. But unlocking the recipe for even one type required a million points—a distant goal for Tong Si.
The elixir list included five types: white, red, yellow, blue, and purple. They were priced at 10,000, 100,000, 500,000, 1,000,000, and 5,000,000 points, respectively.
Seeing the required points, Tong Si felt a bit dizzy. He’d thought it wouldn’t be difficult to raise an elf from Common to pseudo-mythical, but now it looked like it would cost 6,610,000 points.
And right now, he only had 10,000.
Another challenge lay before him.
“I need to figure out how to earn more points!”
...
Over the next two days, the breeder’s house underwent renovations. The company Tong Si had hired was impressively efficient. In just two and a half days, they transformed the dilapidated structure into a brand new facility.
The renovation cost him 30,000 League Coins in total—a fair price.
The old, crumbling sign above the house, which simply read “Breeder’s House” and looked ready to collapse at any moment, was replaced with a new plaque Tong Si purchased himself.
He also gave the breeder’s house a new name:
JOJO Breeder’s House.
