Chapter 25 The Young Princess
Tianyun Sect.
Baili Song and Mu Wanqing had just returned when numerous senior members of the sect came forward to greet them, saying, "Greetings, Sect Master! Greetings, Miss Wanqing!"
Their demeanor was respectful, yet tinged with confusion.
This time, Tianyun Sect had been spared from disaster entirely thanks to the mysterious master behind Mu Wanqing, who had bestowed upon her a tremendous fortune, enabling her to defeat Tu Wuchang.
Otherwise, Tianyun Sect might have ceased to exist altogether.
Tu Wuchang had threatened the entire sect, demanding Mu Wanqing take him to meet the mysterious master. Now, Mu Wanqing and Baili Song had returned unharmed, but Tu Wuchang had not.
Mu Wanqing spoke, "I know the elders are puzzled. Please rest assured, Tu Wuchang has been destroyed by the master."
In truth, she did not know where Tu Wuchang had gone, but this was all she could say to ease the sect's worries.
"Destroyed by the master? That's good!"
Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, their hearts finally at ease.
"Haha!" The white-bearded elder laughed heartily. "Thanks to the master behind Wanqing, the villain Tu Wuchang has been brought to justice. We should hold a grand feast to celebrate!"
"Indeed, we must celebrate with a grand feast!" the others echoed.
Tu Wuchang had fallen in Tianyun Sect, and now Mu Wanqing had emerged as a powerful figure, elevating the sect's prestige to new heights.
Their rise from a Star-level sect to an Earth-level sect was within reach.
In the Spring and Autumn Kingdom, sects were divided into several ranks: Star, Earth, Sky, and Saint.
Not only in the Spring and Autumn Kingdom, but throughout the Snow Chant Continent, all empires' sects followed these same ranks.
Baili Song shook his head. "Now is not the time for feasts. Grand Elder, bring out all the finest medicinal herbs stored in our sect's pharmacy. We must present a generous gift to the master."
The white-bearded elder was the Grand Elder, named Guo Wuchen.
Upon hearing this, Guo Wuchen looked embarrassed. "Sect Master, the finest herbs we have are only a two-thousand-year-old Immortal Lingzhi, and not many at that. As a gift for the master, wouldn't it seem rather paltry?"
"I agree, it's far too meager. To Master Chen, it’s probably worth less than dung."
Mu Wanqing shook her head as well. "Moreover, Master Chen is of exceedingly high stature and lives as a mortal. Offering cultivation herbs may not be appropriate."
The elders exchanged troubled glances.
What a dilemma!
An indescribable dilemma!
Given Master Chen's realm, even if they offered all the treasures in Tianyun Sect, it would probably be no different from dung in his eyes.
After a long moment, Guo Wuchen's eyes brightened. "I recall there is a packet of seeds in the pharmacy, so old that no one knows what they are anymore. Since the master lives as a mortal, he might enjoy planting flowers or grasses. Why not give him the seeds?"
What? Give him seeds?
Could this be considered a generous gift?
Everyone’s expressions were extremely peculiar.
Yet, looking around Tianyun Sect, it seemed those seeds were indeed the most suitable.
He would not care for rare treasures.
Antiques and immortal weapons would be even less impressive.
"Very well, Grand Elder. Fetch the packet of seeds from the pharmacy," Baili Song said with a helpless smile.
What was meant to be a generous gift ended up as a packet of seeds whose very nature was unknown even to them!
Heavens, what a joke!
Was this really not just a farce?
...
White Emperor City.
Huangfu Meng and Nangong Ba left the City Lord’s mansion and had just arrived at the city gates when a luxurious flying vessel soared in from the distance.
"Are these people from the Southern Domain County?" Nangong Ba's body shook, then his face turned bitter. "Could it be that the matter with Tuoba Ye has reached the Southern Domain County, and they’ve sent someone to punish us?"
The Southern Domain County oversaw dozens of cities like White Emperor City, wielding immense power, rivaling even the Sky-level sects.
As he spoke, Nangong Ba glared at Huangfu Meng, blaming her for mishandling affairs and even attracting the attention of the Southern Domain County.
Huangfu Meng felt aggrieved—she really hadn’t lied.
Tuoba Ye was truly gone, reduced to ashes!
At this moment, the luxurious vessel descended, and a young woman, appearing around twenty years old, stepped out.
Her skin was as fair as jade, her beauty equal to Huangfu Meng’s.
Most importantly, she exuded an aristocratic aura that inspired awe and devotion, making one willing to serve at her beck and call.
Following her was an old man in gray robes.
His presence was entirely concealed, appearing as an ordinary person.
But only a fool would believe he was ordinary.
Anyone able to accompany such a lady was undoubtedly a top-tier expert.
...
"Your Highness, I apologize for White Emperor City’s incompetence, troubling you to personally visit. I am at fault!"
As City Lord of White Emperor City, Nangong Ba hurried forward, his attitude almost groveling.
The young woman was indeed the Princess of Southern Domain County, named Bing Muer.
The Princess of Southern Domain County was a figure of immense authority—one word from her could obliterate White Emperor City.
"Incompetence?" Bing Muer frowned in confusion. "City Lord Nangong, have you handled some affair recently?"
"Ah!" Nangong Ba was stunned.
So the Princess hadn’t come because of Tuoba Ye?
"Ahaha!" Nangong Ba laughed awkwardly, relief flooding his heart. Heavens, she had nearly terrified him to death.
"Haha, Your Highness, your sudden arrival made me think there was some matter in White Emperor City you found unsatisfactory, and you had come to punish us."
Nangong Ba laughed heartily.
Bing Muer, dignified and solemn, shook her head. "City Lord, you’re too sensitive. I am here for another matter."
She looked to the gray-robed elder at her side. "Elder Hua, tell the City Lord why we are here."
"Yes, Your Highness."
Elder Hua nodded respectfully to Bing Muer, then spoke calmly, "City Lord, according to the stars, a reclusive devil has arisen in White Emperor City."
Nangong Ba's heart skipped a beat. "A reclusive devil? Tuoba Ye? But Tuoba Ye is merely a vicious criminal."
"Tuoba Ye? What nonsense?" Bing Muer frowned, then shook her head. "We are not here for Tuoba Ye. Such local ruffians are for you to deal with."
"Elder Hua, please continue."
So it truly was not about Tuoba Ye—what a relief!
Nangong Ba wiped away a bead of cold sweat from his brow.
Elder Hua nodded. "City Lord, the reclusive devil I speak of has existed for countless ages. Now, he has suddenly appeared in White Emperor City, an omen of disaster. If we do not find him swiftly, calamity will befall the entire city."
