Chapter 64: Is This Childish Enough?
Seeing the comments flooding her livestream, Dai Xiaomei took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions.
But just then, Jiang Yun’s voice sounded behind her, “Look at that—she even sucked in her stomach with that breath.”
“Cough, cough, cough!” Dai Xiaomei choked on her own saliva, irritated by Jiang Yun’s teasing.
This time, she had learned her lesson. Without sparing Jiang Yun a glance, she turned and marched straight into the night market.
Seeing this, Jiang Yun stopped teasing her and instead caught up to walk alongside her.
But Dai Xiaomei seemed unwilling to walk side by side with Jiang Yun. When she noticed him catching up, she quickened her pace.
Unfortunately for her, Jiang Yun’s long legs gave him a clear advantage; with just a small increase in speed, he was at her side again.
Dai Xiaomei had no choice but to walk even faster.
Jiang Yun kept pace easily.
After a few rounds of this, Dai Xiaomei’s leisurely stroll had turned into a powerwalk, her legs moving rapidly across the pavement.
Just as she thought Jiang Yun would keep following, he suddenly stopped and, from behind her, began calling out loudly and rhythmically:
“One-two-one! One-two-one! One-two-one!”
Hearing this, Dai Xiaomei couldn’t hold it in any longer.
She slowed down, turned, and shot Jiang Yun a glare.
Jiang Yun, however, remained unfazed. He spoke to his livestream viewers: “Brothers, you see this? And she’s not even my girlfriend—imagine if she were. How would you handle that?”
The viewers instantly agreed in the scrolling comments.
“Wise men don’t fall in love—adults get foot massages!”
“Wise men don’t fall in love—fools repeat their mistakes!”
“Wise men don’t fall in love—devoted dogs never get love in return!”
“Wise men don’t fall in love—change sugar mamas every day!”
“Wise men don’t fall in love—massage therapists have all the moves!”
“......”
By this time, Dai Xiaomei had come up beside Jiang Yun.
She glanced at the barrage of comments on Jiang Yun’s streaming setup and couldn’t help but ask, “Seriously, why are your viewers as weird as you?”
Jiang Yun smiled faintly. “Isn’t it obvious? The streamer shapes the fans. As the old saying goes: like father, like son; dragons beget dragons, phoenixes beget phoenixes, and the offspring of rats dig holes.”
As he spoke, Jiang Yun raised his brows at his viewers: “Am I right?”
“No mistake, Brother Yun...right your mother!”
“Unbelievable! Are you trying to be our dad now?”
“Bold! Trying to take advantage of us!”
“This is the cockiest streamer I’ve ever seen.”
“On the whole platform, only Brother Yun dares to call himself the fans’ dad.”
“.........”
Ignoring the viewers’ reactions, Jiang Yun glanced at a nearby stall selling preserved vegetable pancakes. “It’s been ages since I had one of these. Let’s get some.”
With that, Jiang Yun walked over and held up a hand to the vendor. “Five preserved vegetable pancakes, please.”
“Coming right up!” the vendor replied, quickly packing up five pancakes for him.
After paying, Jiang Yun took the bag, opened one, and began eating.
“You’re such a pig, eating five at once,” Dai Xiaomei quipped from the side, unable to resist a jab.
But before she could finish, Jiang Yun handed her one. “Here, want one?”
Dai Xiaomei: ......
She looked at Jiang Yun with a touch of grievance, her eyes saying, “Why didn’t you say so earlier? Now you’ve made me look awkward!”
But when she caught the teasing gleam in Jiang Yun’s eyes, she understood instantly.
He’d done it on purpose!
If she hadn’t spoken up, he wouldn’t have given her one. He was just messing with her for fun!
The viewers watching the stream burst out laughing.
“Told you, you can’t outplay Brother Yun.”
“Why did you provoke him for no reason? Now you’re the awkward one, aren’t you?”
“She really is slow—keeps jumping into Brother Yun’s traps even though she knows she can’t win.”
“Even a pig learns to turn around after being taught three times, but she keeps stepping into the same hole!”
“Take notes, everyone. Overestimating yourself looks exactly like this!”
“.......”
Just as Dai Xiaomei was at a loss for words, a sharp female voice suddenly rang out nearby.
“I’ll say it one last time—are you going to apologize or not?!”
The voice was loud, immediately drawing the attention of many around them.
Even Jiang Yun turned to look, then began walking toward the commotion.
Soon, he and Dai Xiaomei could see what was happening.
In front of a small stall, a cute-looking girl was glaring angrily at the boy opposite her.
Though the boy was taller, his attitude wilted in the face of her fury.
He tilted his head defiantly, “Why should I apologize? This time, it was clearly your fault!”
“My fault? Say that again?” The girl’s eyebrows shot up, her voice growing even sharper.
The boy stiffened his neck and repeated, “It was your fault! Besides, I always apologize—this time, it’s your turn!”
“I’ll count to three. Are you going to apologize or not?” The girl held up three fingers.
A flicker of hesitation crossed the boy’s face.
But seeing so many onlookers, he forced himself to say, “Even if you count to four, it won’t work! This time, you have to apologize!”
“Me, apologize?” The girl pointed at herself, amused. “Me? Unless pies start falling from the sky!”
Smack!
No sooner had she said the words than a pancake landed right in front of them.
For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.
Before either of them could process what happened, Jiang Yun stepped up, addressing the girl with a genial smile. “Is that enough, child?”
The girl: ......
Faced with this burly stranger, she instinctively stepped back behind her boyfriend.
The boy stared at Jiang Yun in bewilderment. “Who are you?”
Jiang Yun shook his head. “Who I am doesn’t matter. What matters is, pies really did fall from the sky—and with preserved vegetables, too. Now, ask your girlfriend if she’s willing to apologize.”
For reasons he couldn’t explain, the boy turned and looked at his girlfriend.
The girl finally realized what was happening.
Good grief, he’s coming for me!
She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, Jiang Yun waved a few more pancakes in front of her. “Is that enough, child?”
The girl: ......
“Sorry!” she gritted out between her teeth, directing the apology at her boyfriend.
Hearing her apology, the boy’s entire face lit up with satisfaction.
He grinned at Jiang Yun. “Thanks, bro—ah...”
Before he could finish, his expression twisted in pain.
Because the girl had just pinched his waist...
