“Are you sure you don’t want me to mention it in my stream? If I don’t say anything, a lot of people won’t know you’re moving to Douyin,” Daixiaomei asked Jiang Yun.
Although DouSha had already told them not to help Jiang Yun redirect traffic or interact with him, considering he had just spent a million, Daixiaomei felt she could at least mention it briefly. It might not make a huge difference, but anything is better than nothing. Besides, with that million in gifts, the guild would just turn a blind eye to anything Daixiaomei did. With the guild’s backing, DouSha wouldn’t dare say much to her.
“It’s fine. I don’t really care about the number of viewers in my stream anyway. Besides, I only got a bit of attention in the first place because I drew traffic from Douyin. Who knows, maybe streaming on Douyin will actually work out better for me than on DouSha,” Jiang Yun replied indifferently.
He had managed to multiply his stream’s viewership several times over in just a few days, mainly because he’d hit the trending list on Douyin several times and pulled in a lot of viewers. So, in his mind, moving his stream to Douyin might actually be more comfortable than staying on DouSha. Even without Daixiaomei and the others boosting his traffic, it wouldn’t be too bad. At the very least, it couldn’t be worse than when he was still unknown on DouSha, right? Back then, his daily sign-in rewards alone amounted to a hundred thousand Fish Fins, plus a million in cashback. Even if things just stayed like that from here on out, Jiang Yun would be satisfied.
“All right, then. When you go live tonight, I’ll send you some gifts from my Douyin account,” she said.
“Whatever, we’ll see. If you’re feeling bold, you can just drop by my stream directly,” Jiang Yun replied with a grin.
“No way. That would be too much of a slap in the face for the DouSha officials. What if they limit my traffic?”
“Then just do what I’m doing and come over to Douyin.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. You’ve seen the penalty in my contract. Even you would call it astronomical—I wouldn’t dare.”
“Fair enough. We’ll leave it at that.”
“Mm, see you tonight.”
With the conversation over, Daixiaomei turned back to her own stream. Most of her viewers were expressing their confusion, filling the chat with questions about why Jiang Yun had given her so much money.
“Did Brother Yun win the lottery or what? Why else would he send so much to an old lady?”
“Even if he won the lottery, it’s not worth dropping a million! Is he secretly in love with her or something?”
“From the start, Brother Yun’s only ever sent gifts to the old lady, and now he’s sent even more. That settles it—he’s in love!”
“Exactly! There’s no other explanation for it—he’s definitely crushing on her!”
On seeing these comments, Daixiaomei rolled her eyes and said, “Don’t be ridiculous. It’s not what you think at all. Brother Yun’s stream is gone, so he just came to my place to clear out his DouSha inventory.”
Even though Jiang Yun had told her not to mention it, Daixiaomei still did. The viewers were quick to pick up on the implication.
“What? Brother Yun’s stream is gone? Why? What did he do? Wasn’t he just live for two hours?”
“Wait, what does clearing out his inventory have to do with his stream being gone? It’s not like he’ll never watch DouSha again.”
“Damn, is that what the old lady means? Is Brother Yun not going to stream on DouSha anymore?”
“Is he really quitting DouSha???”
“If he’s not streaming on DouSha, where will he go? He doesn’t even have a fan group—we won’t know where to find him next!”
Once they caught on, Daixiaomei casually said, “Don’t spam my chat about it, all right? I just had him clear out his inventory here, that’s all. How would I know where he’s going next? I don’t even know how many accounts he has.”
With those words, she effectively confirmed the rumor that Jiang Yun wouldn’t be streaming on DouSha anymore, while also hinting at where he might go next.
“Come on, old lady, if you don’t know, how would we?”
“Wait a minute, are you admitting our guess is right?”
“Accounts? You can only verify one account per ID! The only other account Brother Yun has with a decent following is on Douyin.”
“Damn, old lady, are you saying he’s going to stream on Douyin?”
“Say something! Where is Brother Yun going to stream?”
Seeing that some viewers had figured it out, Daixiaomei dropped the subject. That was as far as she could go. If she said any more, the DouSha officials would come after her, and her guild would have something to say as well.
“All right, guys, let’s not waste this hype. Let’s get today’s stream started! I haven’t put on makeup yet, so I’ll do a live makeup tutorial for everyone!”
With that, she switched to her phone, walked over to her vanity, and began applying makeup. Even though the chat was still full of questions about Jiang Yun, Daixiaomei ignored them, focusing instead on narrating her makeup routine.
“Use a bit more concealer. I know I have a beauty filter on, so you guys can’t see it, but honestly, there are a lot of little flaws in my skin...”
Realizing she wasn’t going to respond, the viewers flocked to Jiang Yun’s Douyin page, flooding his comment section with questions about whether he would stream there.
“Brother Yun, are you going to stream on Douyin from now on?”
“Open the door, Brother Yun! At least tell us where you’re streaming next!”
“Don’t pull a disappearing act!”
“You were doing just fine on DouSha—why suddenly stop streaming?”
As the fans besieged Jiang Yun’s Douyin videos with questions, someone with a keen eye noticed he had changed his Douyin bio:
“Douyin Civil Servant, streaming two hours daily.”
Seeing this, Jiang Yun’s fans perked up immediately.
“So it sounds like Brother Yun really does plan to stream on Douyin?”
“Then why didn’t he start on Douyin in the first place?”
“Why leave DouSha? Is Douyin paying more?”
“Tonight, I’m going to be the first to get on a call with Brother Yun during his Douyin debut!”
“But Brother Yun said before that he wasn’t going to do call-in shows anymore...”
“And you can’t even play League of Legends on Douyin. If he’s not taking calls, what’s he going to do?”
“Who knows...”
While the fans were busy speculating about what Jiang Yun’s first Douyin stream would entail, he received another call from the DouSha staff.
“Hello, Mr. Jiang, this is the DouSha team. I contacted you before...”
Before the caller could finish, Jiang Yun hung up and immediately blocked the number.
A minute later, another unknown number called.
“Hello, Mr. Jiang...”
He hung up and blocked it again—swift and decisive.
Another minute, another call from a new number.
“Hello, Mr.—”
Hang up, block, repeat.
After having three numbers blocked in a row, the other side seemed to give up.
