Chapter 19: I Think His Family Must Be Extremely Eccentric!
While Dumb Girl and Mozi were playfully tussling, Jiang Yun had already moved all his belongings into his new home.
His possessions were few, so after a brief tidying up, Jiang Yun began to survey his new residence. Compared to the one-bedroom apartment he previously rented for less than a thousand yuan, this place was noticeably more spacious.
Moreover, it seemed that the previous owner hadn't considered the possibility of guests when decorating the house. In this five-bedroom, one-living-room dwelling, only the master bedroom was furnished as a bedroom; the other four rooms were not decorated in a typical bedroom style, and not a single bed could be found.
The smallest of the bedrooms had been converted into a study, with hundreds of books displayed inside, most still unopened—little more than decorative props. Several desks were arranged within, and judging by the items atop them, Jiang Yun guessed the former owner used them for practicing calligraphy.
Next door, another bedroom had been transformed into a tea room. A transparent floor-to-ceiling window in the wall offered an unobstructed view of the scenery outside. The tea room was filled with all manner of tea utensils, and Jiang Yun even discovered a stash of premium teas, also unopened.
This struck Jiang Yun as odd. Neither the study nor the tea room seemed to have been used—the items were untouched. It appeared the previous owner hadn't moved out according to any plan, but rather left abruptly.
This thought made Jiang Yun's expression somewhat peculiar. Had the former owner fled? Otherwise, it was hard to explain why the house was left in such a state.
Still, the system hadn't mentioned anything, and Jiang Yun didn't care to investigate further. He trusted the system wouldn't harm him.
With this in mind, Jiang Yun moved on to examine the bedroom next to the study. To his surprise, it had been turned into an e-sports room!
What? The coexistence of a study and an e-sports room was understandable, but an e-sports room alongside a tea room? Jiang Yun truly couldn't wrap his head around that. After all, in his view, the audiences for those two styles were probably worlds apart...
Besides, the e-sports room was fully equipped. Jiang Yun took a quick look and found that the computers alone were far more advanced than his old setup. The graphics card alone could have bought several of his previous computers.
"Damn, if I’d known, I wouldn’t have bothered bringing my own computer," Jiang Yun muttered.
When he was moving, he’d thought his most valuable possession was the computer he’d bought after months of saving. But now, he realized what he considered precious was trash in someone else's eyes.
After venting his frustration, Jiang Yun moved to the next bedroom. This was the largest room besides the master bedroom.
But it, too, had been transformed.
Now it was a gym, complete with every imaginable piece of fitness equipment. Seeing the setup, Jiang Yun had only one thought: this house was tailored for someone like him—single, living alone, with few friends. There was no space reserved for guests.
"Perfect. Let me test how my body’s doing," Jiang Yun murmured, walking over to try out the fitness equipment.
Ever since he’d taken the system’s body enhancement serum, Jiang Yun felt his physical state was far from ordinary, though he had never figured out how to test it. Despite his online antics, he was somewhat socially anxious in real life and too embarrassed to visit crowded gyms.
Now, at last, he could properly gauge his physical strength.
...
On the other side, after their frolic, Dumb Girl and Mozi sat on the sofa, catching their breath.
"I come to visit your new home, and this is how you welcome me?" Dumb Girl rolled her eyes in mock complaint.
Mozi shot back with a matching eye roll. "You started it, didn't you? And you have the nerve to blame me?"
"Only because you started spreading rumors about me first!"
"Who says I was spreading rumors? I didn’t say a thing..." Mozi tried to defend herself, but Dumb Girl silenced her with a glare.
Seeing this, Mozi raised her hands in surrender. "Fine, fine, I spread the rumors. Happy now?"
Dumb Girl lifted her chin slightly. "That’s more like it. Give me a tour of your home—let the brothers see what it's like."
"Alright," Mozi nodded, and began showing Dumb Girl around her new place.
Truth be told, there wasn’t much to see. She’d simply rented a random apartment. The overall decor leaned towards homey comfort. If there was anything noteworthy, it was that her apartment was a bit larger than most, and a bit messier.
The viewers in the livestream found the tour rather dull.
"Honestly, there’s nothing special about Mozi’s place."
"Yeah, it’s basically like my home, just a bit bigger."
"I thought a big streamer’s home would be different, but it’s just ordinary."
"..."
Mozi saw the barrage of comments and retorted, "What were you expecting? This is my home, where I live. Why would it be different from yours? Am I not human? To be honest, even the place upstairs—Cloud’s home—isn’t much different."
Dumb Girl agreed. "Actually, everyone’s home is more or less the same. Mozi just moved to Chengdu for the first time, so I came to welcome her. Don’t overthink it."
But the viewers didn’t buy it.
"I don’t believe it! Brother Cloud is such an eccentric guy—his home must be eccentric, too!"
"Exactly! I might believe you about others, but not Brother Cloud!"
"With Cloud’s level of abstraction, I’d find it reasonable if there was a giant python in his house."
"A giant python? I’d even accept a Northeastern British Shorthair!"
"Northeastern British Shorthair? Even a prehistoric dinosaur wouldn’t surprise me!"
"......"
Dumb Girl rolled her eyes at the comments. "You guys are getting ridiculous. Northeastern British Shorthair? Prehistoric dinosaur? You think Cloud’s home is a zoo?"
But Mozi’s eyes lit up. "Hey, Dumb Boss, do you think Cloud’s house really is that eccentric?"
"I suppose... it can’t be, can it?" Dumb Girl hesitated, uncertain. She’d seen too many odd things from Jiang Yun these days. As the viewers said, he was so eccentric that his house might well reflect that...
"Why don’t we go take a look?" Mozi suggested.
"Isn’t that a bit much?" Dumb Girl instinctively refused. After all, she’d only met Jiang Yun a few times—hardly close friends. Wouldn’t it be rude to drop by for a tour?
But Mozi pressed on. "Come on, think about it—Cloud moved into a new home today. We’re going to congratulate him, right? If we all go, isn’t it reasonable for him to show us around?"
"Uh..." Dumb Girl still felt uneasy, but Mozi’s argument made sense. After all, someone just moved—congratulating them was only polite.
The livestream viewers, seeing Dumb Girl tempted, quickly chimed in.
"Yeah, you’ve streamed together twice—counts as friends. No problem congratulating him!"
"What’s wrong with congratulating Brother Cloud on his new home? I think it’s fine!"
"Go, go, go! To Brother Cloud’s house!"
"Let’s go see if his place is really as eccentric as we imagine!"
"......"
