Chapter 18: The Youngest Son—And Then?
Hearing Jiang Yun's answer, Little Dazed Girl nodded as well. This was more or less what she had expected. After all, for Jiang Yun to afford a mansion worth tens of millions, it was obviously not just from a year’s income as a streamer. If he could still earn millions under the oppressive vampire guild, wouldn't the guild be making a fortune? If he brought them so much profit, how could they possibly let him leave? And if it wasn't from streaming income, then Jiang Yun must come from a well-off family. Someone like that, aside from youthful ignorance leading him to sign with such a vampiric guild, she couldn't think of any other reason.
“Will you consider signing with a guild again in the future?” Even though she didn’t think Jiang Yun would ever sign with a guild again, Little Dazed Girl still asked, just in case he suddenly changed his mind.
Jiang Yun glanced at her. “What do you think?”
She pursed her lips and said nothing more.
“Hello, is anyone inside?” At that moment, a voice came from outside the elevator.
“Yes, we’re here,” Jiang Yun called out loudly.
“Please wait, our technician is working on the repairs. You’ll be out soon,” the voice replied.
“Alright.”
After all, Renheng Riverside Bay was an upscale community, and the property management responded quickly. In just a few minutes, the elevator was running again.
“Sorry about that, the elevator…” The property staff apologized to Little Dazed Girl and Jiang Yun.
Jiang Yun waved it off. “No problem, I’ll take another elevator up.”
The elevator they had just been in, though repaired, still needed inspection. Seeing this, the staff helped Jiang Yun move his things to another elevator. Little Dazed Girl got in as well, but she got off at the fifteenth floor. As soon as she stepped out, she opened her livestream and began explaining the incident to her audience.
“Guys, you won’t believe what just happened…”
After explaining, she complained, “Don’t you think Brother Yun and I are just fated to clash? I’ve run into him twice, and both times something bad happened.”
Her viewers quickly began teasing her.
“I’m telling you, this is a doomed connection!”
“I think your fates are just incompatible. Old Woman, you’d better keep your distance from Brother Yun.”
“I disagree! I think fate is arranging for you two to get closer!”
“Why don’t you just give in to Brother Yun?”
“….”
Seeing the comments, Little Dazed Girl rolled her eyes. “Give in to you lot? I think Brother Yun brings me bad luck. I’d better stay away from him in the future.”
With that, she walked to the door of Mozi’s new home and rang the bell.
“Coming!” Mozi’s voice called from inside.
Soon, footsteps sounded, the door opened, and Mozi’s face appeared on the livestream.
She greeted the viewers first. “Hello~”
Then she looked at Little Dazed Girl. “What took you so long? I saw on your stream that you entered the complex ages ago. I was already thinking about what to make for lunch, but you took forever to knock.”
While speaking, Mozi handed her slippers and gestured for her to come in.
As Little Dazed Girl changed her shoes, she complained, “I ran into Brother Yun in the elevator, and then the elevator broke down. We got stuck inside together.”
Hearing this, Mozi’s expression suddenly turned odd. She raised her eyebrows at the camera and then asked, “And then?”
“And then? Then we waited for the property staff to come fix the elevator, of course.” Little Dazed Girl, busy changing shoes, didn’t notice Mozi’s increasingly mischievous expression. She continued to complain, “You don’t know how unlucky I am every time I run into Brother Yun. I think he’s a jinx for me.”
“So nothing happened between you and Brother Yun in the elevator?”
“What could’ve happened?” Little Dazed Girl looked blankly at Mozi after changing her shoes. When she saw Mozi’s sly grin, she immediately showed a look of disgust.
“Ugh, what are you thinking? We were only stuck for a few minutes. What could possibly happen?”
“Ehh~ A few minutes is plenty of time to do all sorts of things~” Mozi’s tone grew even more suggestive, and the livestream audience eagerly joined in.
“Suddenly, Mozi makes a lot of sense.”
“I have a friend who also thinks a few minutes is enough for many things.”
“Don’t make things up, people!”
“A few minutes... it’s possible!”
“Is Brother Yun really that bad? Just a few minutes?”
“I just checked—the stream was down for 8 minutes and 14 seconds. Brother Yun really isn’t that impressive.”
“Not even ten minutes? What a waste of that handsome face.”
“….”
Seeing the comments in her stream getting more and more out of hand, Little Dazed Girl looked at Mozi, exasperated. “Look at you! Say just a couple of words and you send my chat spiraling off course.”
Mozi spread her hands innocently. “How is this my fault? If your heart is upright, you shouldn’t fear a crooked shadow. If you didn’t do anything, what does it matter what I say?”
Little Dazed Girl rolled her eyes again. “With that mouth of yours, even if nothing happened, it seems like something did.”
“Oh?” Mozi seized on her words. “What do you mean ‘even if nothing happened, it seems like something did’? Could it be that something really happened between you and Brother Yun?”
The viewers, sensing a juicy story, grew even more excited.
“Something feels off!”
“I think Mozi’s got a point!”
“I’m not buying it either!”
“Old Woman, did you really do something with Brother Yun?”
“A man and a woman, stuck in a confined space, and the guy is so handsome—it’s entirely possible she’d make a move.”
“….”
Seeing her chat completely derailed by Mozi, Little Dazed Girl nearly rolled her eyes to the ceiling.
“Don’t jump to conclusions, everyone! Brother Yun and I are absolutely innocent! Besides, am I the type to do something so casual? It was an elevator! An elevator with surveillance cameras!”
“Who knows~” Mozi fanned the flames gleefully from the side.
Realizing that if she let Mozi carry on, the rumors about her and Brother Yun would soon be set in stone, Little Dazed Girl put down her phone and launched herself at Mozi.
“So you like making things up? I’ll show you!”
Mozi dodged and laughed. “Oh my, someone’s getting worked up. I won’t say who!”
The viewers joined in the fun.
“Lies don’t hurt, but the truth cuts like a knife.”
“With Old Woman acting like this, it’s hard to believe there’s nothing going on between her and Brother Yun.”
“To be honest, their interactions have been a bit much lately. Something smells fishy to me, too.”
“With everyone saying this, I’m starting to suspect there really is something between Old Woman and Brother Yun.”
“…”
