Chapter 95: The CEO's Attention at the Small Streaming Platform
The manager of the business department wasn't alone in his confusion; all the executives present at Little Station shared his questions. Certainly, for a platform of Little Station's current size, having a video reach a million views was proof enough that Chen Luo possessed exceptional abilities in the short video realm. Moreover, the milk tea shop he ran matched the audience profile of Little Station perfectly, making business collaboration entirely feasible.
Yet, these two points alone shouldn't warrant such serious attention from President Chen, who had even invited Chen Luo to Shanghai for face-to-face negotiations. Chen Rui glanced at the expressions around him, fully aware of their doubts.
"Ahem."
With a soft cough, everyone present straightened up, falling silent. All senior managers knew that whenever President Chen coughed like this, what followed was always something of utmost importance.
"You may think I'm overvaluing Chen Luo, but that's not the case. He holds extremely significant value."
As he spoke, Chen Rui raised two fingers.
"First, according to the information we have, Chen Luo's milk tea shop has certain connections with the illustrious Wen Corporation. There have been eyewitnesses who saw Chen Luo with a senior assistant from Wen Corporation."
At this, the executives became visibly intrigued.
"If that's true, President Chen, we all support establishing deeper cooperation with Chen Luo."
Wen Corporation was a household name in the country, not only boasting astronomical assets but also a background so formidable it was intimidating. In comparison, Little Station was a minor player, dwarfed by their scale.
If what President Chen said was correct, and Chen Luo was indeed linked to Wen Corporation, then perhaps he could serve as a bridge for Little Station to collaborate with them. At present, Little Station had hit a bottleneck and needed significant financial investment. If they could latch onto such a powerful partner, receive a large influx of capital, the company’s growth would surely leap to another level.
President Chen truly deserved his reputation—planning a hundred steps ahead, ever adept at seizing opportunities and riding the winds.
“Everyone, quiet down. There’s still the most crucial point I haven’t mentioned.”
All eyes turned to Chen Rui, wondering if there could possibly be a reason more important than Wen Corporation.
“Second, this may sound perplexing, but from this video and milk tea shop, I can see Chen Luo’s ambition. That ambition surpasses even our own company’s; I suspect he aims to dominate the entire ACG market.”
“Moreover, I am almost certain that attracting our attention was a deliberate move by Chen Luo. In other words, this partnership isn’t a chance encounter—we are the target he set his sights on from the beginning.”
At these words, all executives were startled and puzzled.
Was President Chen suggesting that this university student had the audacity to scheme against them? That his ambition was to monopolize the ACG market—a goal that even they, after years in the business, wouldn’t dare to entertain?
Just who was this person?
Several large question marks appeared in everyone's minds.
“His use of the ‘playing hard to get’ strategy is impressively seasoned. Is he really just a freshman?”
“Truly, the new generation outpaces the old. The youth of today are frightening.”
Chen Rui rose and looked to his assistant.
“In that case, if the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain. Arrange the schedule—we go to Hangzhou in three days.”
…
The next day, in the office of the Director of the Finance Department at Hangzhou University.
"Director, these are the documents requiring your approval. I’ll leave them here."
The administrative assistant placed the files on the desk. Wen Wan didn’t even look up as she murmured her assent. The assistant bowed slightly and left.
Faced with a mountain of school paperwork, Wen Wan felt a wave of irritation. To her, these were trivial matters, yet she had to review them one by one to understand the workings of the entire university.
Whenever frustration crept in, she would look at the other desk.
“Come here, relieve my stress.”
Chen Luo sat at that desk, a spot Wen Wan had specifically arranged for him in her office. Whenever he wasn’t in class, he would sit there.
Chen Luo smiled, then walked behind Wen Wan, gently massaging her shoulders.
His strong hands rested on her fragrant shoulders, kneading gently.
As Chen Luo worked, Wen Wan’s expression softened with pleasure.
“Not bad, not bad. Keep it up. If you do well, I’ll reward you with a few thousand—and perhaps let you stay the night.”
“You behave. Get back to work. Didn’t you promise to take me out for a private dinner tonight?”
Wen Wan smiled, enjoying Chen Luo’s massage while perusing her documents.
Hangzhou University, as a comprehensive institution, ranked high among domestic universities, with a robust educational system. Every aspect—from academic research across disciplines, student management and cultivation, to education at affiliated primary and secondary schools—was governed by meticulous regulations.
Wen Wan planned to spend a semester thoroughly understanding Hangzhou University’s systems, using them as a foundation to establish a new private university. This was also a model for integrating online education with higher learning.
“Hm?”
Wen Wan let out a questioning hum and paused.
“What’s wrong? Something tricky?”
A strange look crossed Wen Wan’s face as she handed a document to Chen Luo.
He looked closely—it was a withdrawal application.
Normally, students dropping out wasn’t unusual, but the name on the application startled Chen Luo.
“Tang Xiwei’s quitting school? Has she found another powerful backer?”
The last incident with Wen Xiu had been devastating for Tang Xiwei; she’d not only offended Wen Wan but also Wen Xiu. She could no longer expect any prospects along the southeast coast, and might even face mortal danger.
She had left Hangzhou to lay low, and now she was quitting school altogether. From what Chen Luo knew of her, she must have found an influential patron, otherwise she wouldn’t give up her degree so easily.
Seeing Chen Luo deep in thought, Wen Wan’s face fell.
“Are you thinking about your former goddess again?”
“Impossible. I’m just wondering what that malicious woman is scheming.”
“But you were thinking about her, so I must punish you!”
“What punishment?” Chen Luo asked, bewildered.
“The guillotine of the beautiful legs in black stockings!”
Before he could react, a slender leg clad in black stockings aimed straight for his face!
