Chapter 65: Tang Xiwei: Just How Terrifying a Woman Have I Offended?
“Damn! Tang Xiwei! What exactly did you do to him?” Wen Xiu was utterly stunned. She had sworn to Wen Wan earlier that she would return her boyfriend safe and sound, wholly unscathed. And now? He was indeed clean, but the state of his disheveled clothes clearly suggested he had been with someone! And the only woman in the entire operations team was Tang Xiwei! Damn it! This wretch not only put a green hat on me, but now she’s landed me in huge trouble!
With a swish, Wen Wan had already turned and was running toward Chen Luo. The members of the operations team, along with Tang Xiwei, weren’t fools; it was obvious that the situation had taken a bad turn, so they quickly slipped away. Taking advantage of the distraction, Tang Xiwei slowly made her way over to Wen Xiu.
“Chen Luo!” Wen Wan rushed to him, her hands fumbling to untie the ropes binding him as she anxiously checked him over. “Are you hurt anywhere? Do you feel unwell? Say something! Please, talk to me!” Her voice trembled with the hint of tears. She had been terrified all day—the thought of Chen Luo being killed, or being separated from her beloved forever, made her wonder how she could ever go on living.
With a heavy thud, Chen Luo wrapped his arms tightly around Wen Wan, his hand gently patting her back. “Don’t worry, I’m fine. Really, I’m okay,” he whispered. “I’m sorry for making you worry.” Hearing his voice, Wen Wan nearly broke down, barely holding back sobs because of all the people present. She wanted nothing more than to bury herself in his embrace and cry away all her fear and anguish.
Chen Luo, glancing at the scene around him—the overwhelming display of force, the red laser dots flickering on the walls—suddenly realized just how much power Wen Wan had mobilized for his sake. The grace of a beautiful woman is the hardest to repay, especially a remarkable woman like Wen Wan. How could he ever make it up to her? Wait, why would he need to “repay” his own wife? Once he graduated, he’d just give her a few children! Yes, she’d definitely love that!
As Chen Luo soothed Wen Wan, Tang Xiwei had quietly approached Wen Xiu. Inside, Tang Xiwei’s heart surged with hope as she glanced at the villa’s door. If only she could cross that threshold tonight, her dream of climbing the social ladder would finally come true!
“Young Master Wen, that woman is the rich lady I told you about—the one who drives a Maybach and keeps Chen Luo. Is she under your command too?” Tang Xiwei didn’t try to take credit, but spoke as if she was Wen Xiu’s woman, casting a venomous glance at Wen Wan.
“Oh? This is the so-called wealthy woman you said only had a little money?” Wen Xiu replied.
“Yes! Compared to you, she’s just someone with a little money. No one is richer than you!” Tang Xiwei was delighted—surely Wen Xiu was about to stand up for her! Hmph, so what if you’re prettier than me? So what if you’re richer? My boyfriend is richer than you, and that’s all that matters! Just wait—I’ll humiliate you today, humiliate you so badly you’ll want to take your own life!
“Darling, what should we do next?” Tang Xiwei asked eagerly, turning toward Wen Xiu.
A resounding slap echoed through the air as Wen Xiu struck Tang Xiwei so hard she fell to the ground. “What the hell am I doing with you! You wretched woman! Do you have any idea what you’ve done? Not only did you cuckold me, but you actually had the nerve to sleep with Wen Wan’s man! You may not care about your life, but I care about mine!”
Utterly enraged, Wen Xiu kicked and beat Tang Xiwei mercilessly in front of everyone. Hearing Wen Xiu’s shouts, Wen Wan’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. She let go of Chen Luo’s waist and looked him over, fury blazing in her gaze.
Chen Luo hastily explained, “Honey, don’t worry. That woman tried to take advantage of me, but I resisted with all my might. She didn’t succeed, she just tore my clothes.”
Wen Wan’s fury faded by half at his words, but she was still very angry. “Mo Lan, have the doctor traveling with us examine Chen Luo. I’ll be right back.” With that, she released him and strode toward Wen Xiu, who was still venting all her rage on Tang Xiwei, beating her with both hands and feet.
Tang Xiwei’s once-beautiful face was now bruised and swollen, but through the pain she kept trying to explain herself. “Ah! Young Master Wen! Please stop! I didn’t sleep with Chen Luo, you have to believe me! She’s just some rich woman—why are you beating me over her?”
“Why?” Wen Xiu was so furious she almost laughed, aiming another vicious kick at Tang Xiwei’s head.
“Stop, Wen Xiu.” A voice, thick with anger, rang out, and Wen Xiu immediately froze. Tang Xiwei looked up and realized Wen Wan had drawn within two meters of Wen Xiu.
“Oh, sister, you see? It was all this wretch acting on her own—I hope you’ll see the truth. I’ll give her to you as your slave—if that’s not enough to appease you, you can kill her right now to vent your anger on behalf of your future brother-in-law. What do you think?”
Wen Xiu was practically begging for Wen Wan’s forgiveness, even prepared to sacrifice Tang Xiwei as a peace offering, just to put an end to the conflict. Hearing this, Tang Xiwei momentarily forgot her pain and stared blankly at Wen Wan.
No! Impossible! Chen Luo’s lover, that so-called rich woman, could make Wen Xiu beg for mercy? Did that mean her wealth and power surpassed Wen Xiu’s? Sister? Could it be that they were siblings? Children of the Wen family? I’ve been contending with the legitimate daughter of the Wen family all this time, thinking I could torment her by latching on to Wen Xiu? How utterly foolish I was! No wonder Chen Luo chose her! So that’s how it is!
“Miss Wen, I can explain—please, I beg you—” Tang Xiwei tried to plead for her life, coughing between words. She now realized whom she had provoked; someone of this stature could crush her as easily as squashing an ant.
“Be quiet.” Wen Wan’s cold voice cut through, and Tang Xiwei felt a murderous intent lock onto her, leaving her utterly speechless. Wen Wan didn’t even spare her a glance, focusing her icy gaze on Wen Xiu.
“Wen Xiu, whether or not she acted on her own, you ordered them to kidnap Chen Luo. Today, between you and me, it’s a fight to the death.”
As she spoke, Wen Wan slowly raised her hand; the red laser dots immediately zeroed in on Wen Xiu’s forehead. Wen Xiu, seeing this, was about to scream in terror.
At that moment, the door of the villa creaked open, and an elderly man with white hair and beard stepped out. “Fifth Young Master, Sixth Miss, the Master wishes to speak with you both via video call. Please come inside.”
At the mention of “the Master,” both Wen Xiu and Wen Wan shuddered. Wen Wan, in particular, swayed as if she might collapse. Seeing this, Chen Luo hurried over, ignoring the need for a medical check, and supported Wen Wan by her arm and waist, letting her lean her weight on him.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here with you. I’ll protect you.”
The elderly man showed no surprise at Chen Luo’s presence. Instead, he nodded slightly at him. “Mr. Chen Luo, the Master has specifically requested to see you as well. Please come inside.”
