Chapter 106: You had the nerve to seduce my sister, but not the guts to open the door?
Phew.
At last, the anger in Ye Lina’s room had finally drained away.
Lowering her head and staring at the damp patch on the jersey, she could not help but feel her cheeks grow warm.
“Tch. How shameless.”
She did not know whether she was scolding herself or Wen Wan, but Ye Lina glanced once more at the jersey.
“Just this once. One last sniff, and then I’ll take it to the wash.”
She slipped off the jersey again, buried her face in it, and drew in a deep breath.
Hiss.
That intoxicating texture and scent left her almost drunk, as though she had just swallowed a fine vintage.
“If even the smell on a piece of clothing is this good... then the scent on him himself would be even more...”
At that thought, Ye Lina hurriedly shook her head.
“No, no. There’s serious work to do. I can’t lose myself in this!”
Reluctantly, she put the shirt into her drawer, then looked at the shorts.
“Tonight, when I get back, I’ll try these on.”
The thought surfaced, and Ye Lina froze for a moment.
She had actually come to like this outfit to such an extent?
Was Chen Luo himself simply a male enchantress, carrying an irresistible charm, or had she truly become so utterly infatuated with him?
Hmm. It seemed both possibilities might be true. In that case, verification was still necessary.
“Zhou Mei was right after all. Practice is the only criterion for testing truth. I should find time to go see Chen Luo again.”
With that in mind, Ye Lina dressed once more and stepped out of the room.
But once outside, she could not see her younger sister anywhere, and it seemed one of her assistants was missing as well.
“Where is Ye Linqian?”
The assistants exchanged uncertain looks, and at last one of them wiped the sweat from his brow before answering.
“The second young lady said she wanted to go out for a walk, so Xiao Lin took her around Hangzhou.”
“Oh, oh. Still as playful as ever.”
Ye Lina did not pay it much mind. The immediate matter was what mattered most. Her expression sharpened, and she looked toward the group of assistants.
“Everyone, listen up!”
At the familiar command in her voice, every back straightened at once.
“One: have the general managers of every education group under us in the southeastern coastal region come to Hangzhou immediately for a meeting. The meeting will be at eight o’clock tonight.”
“Two: the technical analysis department will immediately begin data analysis on Wen Wan’s online education project. I want enough data and parameters in hand before seven tonight, no matter what.”
“Three: pull more than half the staff from the publicity departments of every project back to the company and have them stand by. We are preparing to fight a hard battle!”
“Back to the company. Move!”
“Yes!”
With burning eyes fixed on the doorway, Ye Lina’s cold voice rang out.
“Wen Wan, this counts as war.”
...
In the city center, Zhou Mei’s studio.
“Mr. Chen, the promotional copy has been completed. Please review it.”
“Mr. Chen, the in-app banners and related pop-up messages have all been set. Please take a look.”
“Mr. Chen, twelve food-related companies are currently seeking ad placements through our software. Should we pursue business cooperation?”
At this point, development of the game in the studio had essentially come to a halt.
The whole place was now occupied with the food-delivery app, and Chen Luo had taken a day off specifically to sit in and direct operations.
Why was Chen Luo able to keep taking leave?
Simple. His counselor was Wen Wan, so of course he could ask for as many days off as he wanted.
“These parts of the copy are still not polished enough. I’ve already marked all the revisions. Take it back and revise it again.”
“The banners should be more concise. The background of the pop-up messages is too plain. It needs to match our brand colors and still feel comfortable to the user.”
“Tell the companies that want to cooperate to wait a little longer. We can talk again in three days.”
Watching Chen Luo sit at the desk and handle everything methodically, Zhou Mei could clearly see traces of Wen Wan in the way he worked.
Or, more accurately, everything about Chen Luo gave off an air of maturity and poise far beyond his age and experience.
“Big bro, when you handle company matters, you’re not even as calm and composed as Chen Luo.”
At his little sister’s teasing, Zhou Zheng did not get angry. He only grinned.
“Sis, some people are simply not comparable in talent.”
“These days I’ve been around Chen Luo long enough to feel that he doesn’t resemble an ordinary student from an ordinary family at all.”
“According to President Wen, aside from being somewhat lacking in networking skills, Chen Luo’s management ability is already at the level of some old foxes.”
“Add his creativity and way of thinking, and he’ll definitely make something of himself in the future.”
Zhou Mei frowned.
“You think so too?”
“No. I think those abilities are secondary. The most important thing is his character.”
As he spoke, he picked up his phone and opened a chat interface.
The contact name on it read: Assistant to the President, Zhao Fang, from Site B.
“Yesterday, this assistant to the president from Site B sent me a message saying their president would arrive in Hangzhou the night after next, specifically to meet Chen Luo.”
Hearing this, Zhou Mei could only ask instinctively.
“Site B’s president is coming to see Chen Luo? Why? Is there some hidden reason behind this?”
Zhou Zheng reached out and lightly flicked his sister on the forehead, saying irritably, “Can you spend a little less time studying your game and think more about how to do business? Your game isn’t something you develop once and then never operate again.”
“Ow!” Zhou Mei clutched her forehead, looking furious.
“From the fact that President Chen is taking the initiative to come personally and discuss cooperation with Chen Luo, I can draw two conclusions.”
“First, Chen Luo’s milk tea shop and video plan have already drawn the attention of Site B’s upper management, and they’ve already judged his project to be of extremely high value.”
“Second, this wasn’t an accident. It seems more like Chen Luo planned it deliberately, specifically choosing Site B as the main battlefield for promotion.”
“In other words, Site B did not choose Chen Luo. Chen Luo set his sights on Site B long before he even began.”
“It wasn’t Site B that valued Chen Luo’s project. It was Chen Luo who valued Site B’s future development.”
“No way, right?”
“Is Chen Luo really that amazing? That can’t be possible, can it?”
Zhou Mei was stunned by her brother’s analysis. If Chen Luo had truly planned all this, then hadn’t he already arranged every ounce of initiative and future development with almost supernatural precision?
Seeing the shock finally appear on his sister’s face, Zhou Zheng decided to fan the flames a little more.
“I knew you wouldn’t believe it. Let me tell you something else. Do you know what Chen Luo’s reaction was when I told him this news?”
“What reaction? Excited? Happy?”
“No. He just replied, ‘Oh,’ and told me to arrange it as I saw fit.”
“That reaction was so indifferent it surprised even me. It was as if I’d told him what to eat for breakfast this morning—utterly ordinary. Clearly, he had anticipated it long ago.”
After hearing this, Zhou Mei was speechless for a long while. In the end, only two words escaped her lips.
“A monster.”
“Hahaha, that’s exactly how I’d describe him too.”
Their voices had grown a little loud and drew Chen Luo’s attention.
“Oh? What are the seniors talking about?”
Zhou Zheng stood up, ready to laugh it off and brush the matter aside, but then a rapid knocking sounded at the door.
Bang, bang, bang!
“Open the door!”
“Chen Luo! I know you’re in there! Stop hiding and say something!”
“You’ve got the nerve to seduce my sister! Why don’t you have the nerve to open the door?”
