Chapter 93: By Every Right and Reason
When Brother Leopard saw Su Chen standing in front of Han Jiangxue, his brows rose.
“What’s this got to do with you? Get the hell out of my way!”
As he spoke, Brother Leopard casually shoved at Su Chen, intending to brush him aside.
But to his surprise, the moment his hand touched Su Chen’s body, it was like pushing against a telephone pole—utterly unmoving.
That instantly enraged him.
He was already drunk and emotionally worked up, and now that he had failed to shove Su Chen away, he felt he had lost face in front of Little Yellow-Hair and the other two.
So Brother Leopard glared at Su Chen viciously and said again, “I’m giving you one last chance. Don’t stick your damn nose where it doesn’t belong!”
“Easy there, big brother. We can talk this out,” Su Chen said, still wearing that same smile, not yielding an inch.
“Talk your mother!”
Brother Leopard saw that Su Chen had no intention of moving aside and swung a punch straight at his head.
The wind of the blow was fierce. If it landed solidly, even if Su Chen didn’t die, he would at least suffer a concussion.
“Su Chen!”
Behind him, Han Jiangxue cried out in alarm and tried to pull him away.
But how could Su Chen retreat?
In that flash of an instant, as he watched the fist closing in, his gaze sharpened. He raised his elbow and jammed it into the crook of Brother Leopard’s swinging arm.
Before the punch could land, Brother Leopard’s elbow joint was checked by Su Chen’s strike. The powerful arm instantly lost all force and dropped limply.
“Wh-what? What’s going on?”
Brother Leopard stared in shock. He had only felt his arm go numb before all strength vanished from it. He had no idea how Su Chen had done it.
In the end, he could only blame it on having drunk too much and his arm refusing to obey him.
So Brother Leopard prepared to throw another vicious punch and teach this brat a lesson.
But just as he was about to raise his hand again, the owner of the barbecue stall noticed what was happening and hurried over.
“Brother Leopard, my little stand survives on a humble living. It can’t withstand such a great temper from you!”
The owner bent at the waist and spoke in a placating tone.
Brother Leopard worked at a nearby construction site and often brought his men here for skewers, so over time the owner had gotten to know him.
In their usual dealings, the owner had also sensed that Brother Leopard had more than a little underworld about him.
So when he saw the drunken man harassing the female companion of his benefactor, he immediately came over to smooth things over.
With an ingratiating smile, the owner said, “How about this, Brother Leopard? This meal is on me. Let’s not make things hard for these two young people.”
Looking at the owner standing in front of him, Brother Leopard’s fury did not abate. He did not care who had come; he simply swung his fist and hit first.
The poor owner did not have Su Chen’s skill. How could he withstand the punch of a man who worked construction every day? The blow landed in his stomach, and he dropped to the ground at once, retching violently, unable to rise.
Fortunately, Brother Leopard had struck him in the stomach. If it had landed on his chest or temple—some fatal spot—then with that one punch, if he didn’t die, he would have lost half his life.
Seeing the owner sprawled on the ground like a dead dog, Brother Leopard immediately felt his confidence return.
“Damn old thing, you dare stop me? You think I should give face to a lousy stall peddler like you? Take a look at yourself and see if you’re worthy!”
Even after saying that, he still was not satisfied. He spat on the owner, then kicked him again.
The little old man who was already curled on the ground was sent folding into himself like a shrimp by that heavy, savage kick. His face twisted in agony, and he could not even cry out.
Only then did a satisfied curve appear at the corner of Brother Leopard’s mouth.
He looked at Su Chen and shouted, “See that? If you keep blocking me, you’ll end up just like him!”
“Damn it, all I want is to have some fun with one slut. Why the hell does it come with so much trouble?”
As Brother Leopard spoke, Little Yellow-Hair and the other two behind him laughed and joined in.
“Exactly. If she’s a little thing you paid for, why can’t Brother Leopard pay for her too? Brother Leopard’s got money—he’ll give you double!”
“Double might be a bit much. Sounds like price gouging to me! Hahaha!”
“You’d better wise up and hand the girl over yourself. She’s out here selling anyway. Whoever she spends the night with, it’s all the same, right?”
“Hahaha, exactly! And there are four of us—you’ll enjoy it even more!”
…
Listening to their filthy words, Han Jiangxue’s lovely face turned glacial, but she ignored them. Instead, she looked anxiously at the owner lying on the ground.
“Su Chen, look—his face has gone blue! If this keeps up, his life may be in danger!”
As she spoke, she tried to rush over to save him first, but Su Chen caught her with one hand.
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
At this moment Su Chen’s eyes were cold as ice. He had never imagined that a peaceful late-night meal would turn into this, nor that the owner would suffer such undeserved calamity.
Su Chen asked, “You’ve got your phone ready, right? You recorded everything just now?”
Han Jiangxue did not understand why he was asking, but she still answered, “I recorded it.”
“Good. Call an ambulance first, then the police. And don’t lower the phone—keep holding it up.”
“Now it’s fully justified.”
“…Huh?”
While Han Jiangxue was still stunned, Su Chen had already walked in front of Brother Leopard.
“Move aside. The owner may not last much longer. If he isn’t taken to the hospital now, you’ll become a murderer.”
Brother Leopard was briefly taken aback by Su Chen’s words, then burst into laughter.
“Kid, are you threatening me? Don’t think I’m so drunk I don’t know what I’m doing. Let me tell you—I only gave him one punch and one kick. That old bastard won’t die!”
“Of course, if you want to save him, I won’t stop you. Kneel down and kowtow to the four of us, then send that girl behind you over here, and I’ll let you save him.”
Hearing this, the three yellow-haired punks also laughed loudly.
“That’s right! Running into Brother Leopard today is your good fortune. You should be kowtowing!”
“Damn, Brother Leopard is really a man tonight. This is so damn satisfying!”
…
Seeing the owner on the ground moving less and less, Su Chen stopped caring about anything else and walked forward.
Brother Leopard, seeing this as open provocation, and already floating high on all the flattery, snatched up an empty beer bottle from a nearby table and smashed it at Su Chen’s head.
If that hit, Su Chen’s skull would surely be split open.
“Damn it, kid, you’ve got a death wish!”
As the bottle swung toward him, Su Chen did not retreat—he advanced instead, closing the distance in an instant. With one sharp knee strike, he drove his knee into Brother Leopard’s stomach.
The beer bottle flew from Brother Leopard’s hand. His face turned blue-white, and he collapsed to the ground at once, vomiting continuously. The stench of food and beer fermenting in his stomach mixed with the vomit, sharp and nauseating.
Before the three yellow-haired punks could even react, Brother Leopard was already down. At once, they too grabbed beer bottles from the table and charged at Su Chen.
“Damn it! You little bastard don’t want to live?! You dare hit Brother Leopard?!”
“Get him! Beat him to death!”
