Chapter 141: The Second One Is Half Price

Su Chen looked at Han Jiangxue, whose enthusiasm was running high, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
Why do I feel like this girl, Han Jiangxue, is even more eager than I am?
Su Chen shook his head helplessly and decided to let Han Jiangxue have her way.
He had practically been jolted awake by hunger to begin with. After taking Xu Fangyuan’s call and dealing with the “killer” outside the door, nothing stood in the way of his march toward food anymore.
His taut nerves relaxed all at once, and his stomach naturally began to growl.
Grrrr...
The sound rang clearly through the room. Hearing it, Han Jiangxue cast him a sidelong glance with sparkling eyes and smiled sweetly.
“Oh! Why is the stomach of our studio’s only artiste growling? Are you hungry?”
“Come on, call me Sister Han, and Sister Han will take you out to eat~”
Han Jiangxue grinned broadly, her exaggerated expression making her look just like an old madam from a brothel in ancient times.
The corner of Su Chen’s mouth twitched. He had no intention of indulging this comedienne in her little role-play, but at that moment, another deep rumble sounded.
Grrrrrr... grrrrrr...
Su Chen’s lips curled upward. Looking at Han Jiangxue’s unnatural expression, he said in an exaggerated tone, “Oh~ Don’t tell me our Sister Han skipped breakfast too? How can that be allowed?”
“Quick, Sister Han, give Little Su a chance and let Little Su take you out to lunch~”
His words made Han Jiangxue squirm uncomfortably. She snorted, “This is an artiste studio. Why have you made it sound like a brothel where people solicit customers?”
“Forget it, forget it. Sister Han will do you the favor of letting you treat her to a meal.”
Han Jiangxue smiled and rolled her eyes at Su Chen before deliberately swaying toward the door with exaggerated elegance.
The movement of her hips was quite pronounced, but from behind, Su Chen found nothing vulgar about it. Instead, she looked like an enchanting spirit, utterly captivating.
“Absolutely!”
The two of them did not choose any high-end restaurant. Instead, they simply ate at a small roadside diner.
Although Su Chen had begun making money, he had no particular desire for delicacies. After all, he had eaten himself sick of them in his previous life.
Han Jiangxue was wealthy as well, but she lived quietly and modestly, no differently from an ordinary person. Despite her fairy-like appearance and family background, she possessed a distinctly down-to-earth air and was naturally not fussy about food.
Besides, who said a roadside restaurant’s dishes had to be worse than rare delicacies?

The two of them enjoyed the meal immensely, stuffing themselves until they were completely full.
Afterward, Su Chen leaned back in his chair and chatted idly with Han Jiangxue.
“...Do you have anything to do this afternoon?”
“If not, how about coming with me to Shashi People’s Hospital?” Su Chen asked Han Jiangxue.
Han Jiangxue looked puzzled. “Shashi People’s Hospital? What are you going there for? To get circumcised?”
“I heard that the hospital is nationally famous for circumcisions. During the summer vacation, when the students have just finished their college entrance exams, they even offer group circumcisions, with the second one at half price!”
Su Chen: “...”
Although he had long known that Han Jiangxue sometimes came out with astonishing remarks, having her suddenly say something like this was still more than he could bear.
He suddenly understood why Han Jiangxue remained single despite being so beautiful. What man could possibly withstand her?
And even if someone could, with Han Jiangxue’s peculiar way of thinking, it would probably be difficult for her to develop any romantic feelings toward a man.
Su Chen shook his head helplessly and glared at her as he explained, “What are you thinking? I’m going to Shashi People’s Hospital to see Old Professor Shen!”
“Have you forgotten? He invited me on last night’s episode of Tomorrow’s Star, and I agreed.”
“A promise is a promise. Once I’ve agreed to something, I have to follow through!”
Only then did Han Jiangxue understand.
She smacked herself on the head and gave an embarrassed smile, then said ruefully, “I want to go too... But this afternoon I have to run paperwork for some stinking man!”
“If the studio’s business license isn’t approved, we’ll have to wait another day before we can make our move against Starshine Entertainment.”
“I’m already dying to crush Starshine Entertainment!”
As she spoke, Han Jiangxue tugged at her hair, looking utterly frantic.
“Besides, we have to lie low for the next couple of days. We’ll have to wait until the business license is approved before we stir up any discussion on Weibo. Otherwise, if we alert them prematurely, all our carefully laid plans will go to waste!”
After hearing this, Su Chen nodded. “Don’t worry. I won’t act rashly.”
The two chatted a little longer before parting ways right there in the small restaurant.
Han Jiangxue hurried straight to the Bureau of Commerce, while Su Chen hailed a taxi to Shashi People’s Hospital.
Having once had the web between his thumb and index finger stitched there, Su Chen was fairly familiar with the hospital.

At the very least, he would not be wandering around blindly. He could still find the outpatient clinic for surgical specialists.
When Su Chen arrived at the clinic, he congratulated himself on his decision, because Old Professor Shen was currently examining an elderly patient inside.
Not wanting to disturb him, Su Chen simply stood outside and waited in silence.
It seemed that Old Professor Shen did not have any appointments that day, for no other patients came even after Su Chen had waited for quite some time.
The elderly man inside was probably one of Professor Shen’s previous patients.
Meanwhile, inside the consultation room, Old Professor Shen examined the old man’s chest with a grave expression.
“Your heart condition is extremely serious. With the current level of medical technology, the risk of surgery is over ninety-nine percent...”
The old man sighed after hearing this. “I know... But if I don’t have the surgery, I probably won’t make it to the Lunar New Year...”
“I only want to hold on until spring, so I can see my grandson who hasn’t been born yet. Then I’ll have no regrets...”
“Professor Shen, you’re the finest surgical specialist in the country. I trust your skill. Whatever the outcome, I’m willing to accept it!”
Looking into the old man’s earnest eyes, Professor Shen found himself in a difficult position.
Without surgery, the old man could live for at least another six months. But with surgery, the odds of his failing to make it off the operating table were simply too high.
And even if he did survive the operation, given his advanced age, whether he could endure the aftermath was one question. How long he could hold on was another.
As a doctor, Professor Shen was truly at a loss in that moment.
Then, suddenly, inspiration struck him, and he thought of Su Chen.
Seeing Professor Shen remain silent, the old man gritted his teeth and began to rise, intending to kneel before him.
“Professor Shen, please! I just want to see my grandson. I want him to see his grandfather!”
How could Professor Shen possibly allow him to kneel?
He immediately caught hold of the old man and hurriedly said, “You don’t have to do this! There’s still hope!”
