Chapter 13: If Heaven Had Feelings, It Would Grow Old Too—I Dedicate a Moment to Theshy!
Chapter 13: If Heaven Had Feelings, It Would Grow Old; I Hold a Second for Theshy!
The Graves, bound by the hook, froze stiff for a moment.
Soon after, Thresh’s hook yanked him backward again.
Breathe dashed forward with an E skill to pull him back.
Behind them, Orianna and Olaf hurriedly joined the fray, throwing every skill they had in a relentless barrage, coordinated with Draven’s flying axe.
In less than a second, Graves cried out in pain and collapsed near his own tower.
The remaining Ezreal and Braum saw the situation and dared not linger. Elk was so frightened at Thresh’s advance that he nearly lost control, immediately using Flash.
This scene quickly became a joke among the live viewers.
Even the caster chuckled.
“Thresh just hooked away Ezreal’s soul. That Flash was completely unnecessary; Thresh just used Q, and the skill is still on cooldown.”
“Convinced. This time, really convinced,” Rita laughed softly.
Given IG’s current state, the chance of a comeback was not low.
Especially against a champion like Viego, who essentially lacks his ultimate during the laning phase.
Frowning slightly.
Needle Barrage!
Breathe focused intently, calculating the timing in his mind.
Snip, snip, snip!
He released the Rift, gathering 320 gold, splitting it evenly with AD, then pushed the wave to the tower. Cheng Xuan chose to recall on the spot.
Gwen’s Q skill, the Scissor Slice, is a cone-shaped attack whose center deals true damage.
The bottom lane had already become utterly hopeless.
Sure enough, Sadness found a perfect moment; with the top laner caught by the enemy, and Gwen’s coordination, they took down Theshy’s Viego within three seconds.
Cautiously peeking out to farm, he warned.
Interrupted with Haste!
That was enough.
After this, WE completely abandoned any thoughts of contesting the bottom lane.
Just as Jide’s words fell, Gwen’s triple R struck Viego repeatedly.
Anyone with eyes could see that Ezreal in the bottom lane was silenced, forcing the team to create openings through the top lane.
Breathe’s urgency had another reason.
Cheng Xuan glanced at the current score by pressing Tab.
Theshy had no strength left to fight back.
Every subsequent basic attack would carry additional damage.
Theshy didn’t expect that, at full health, just stepping forward to take a cannon minion, he would be immediately punished by Breathe.
The score was now 3 to 1, somewhat narrowing WE’s disadvantage.
“Hm,” Breathe muttered, too busy controlling Theshy to care about Elk’s poor play.
Since Sadness had recently helped him secure a kill and handed over the credit, upon returning to lane, he was half a level ahead in experience. His Gwen had already reached level 9 at the 11-minute mark.
The already fragile health bar couldn’t withstand such torment and was instantly drained.
Click, click, click!
The first Needle Barrage hit fully, though Gwen’s second R was dodged with a small W dash.
Ezreal, respawned and back on the lane, refused to step out from under the tower, watching the minions from afar, casting Q whenever possible, or just soaking experience.
For any champion, level 9 is a pivotal point to seize momentum.
“Theshy used his ultimate too early! Got baited!” As the broadcast shifted the camera upward, Jide’s gaze swept the screen. Seeing Viego’s ultimate being cast, he clicked his tongue, “Breathe is so meticulous, holding onto the third R until after his E refreshes, then deliberately stepping close to force Viego to use his ultimate. Theshy’s probably going to die a second time.”
Gwen’s R propels her forward a short distance and increases her attack speed by 40%.
One of her small skills had just reached max level (in League of Legends, Q, W, and E max at level 5, and ultimate at level 3).
For example, Gwen’s maxed Q experiences a significant improvement in cooldown and damage.
The last hope to revive the team was the lone 1-0 player, who also led in farm and experience.
Gwen’s triple R: the first stage fires a single needle, the second three needles, and the third five needles.
Each needle applies her passive effect, reducing a portion of the enemy’s maximum health.
Seeing no breakthrough at the bottom lane, they had to act elsewhere.
They must break the rhythm by striking a point, or the playoffs would slip away.
But Gwen, wielding her enormous scissors, performed three perfect A-moves and fully stacked Q, then the giant scissors snapped open and closed within a cone-shaped area, emitting a sound that made every man wince.
Combining burst, mobility, sustain, and waveclear all in one.
Almost instantly, Viego was left with just a sliver of health.
Even with Boots of Swiftness, it would take at least 27 seconds to reach the top lane.
At the moment Gwen closed in on Viego, she followed up with an auto attack and R.
Ready to finish Theshy off with a solo kill.
One stage of R plus four autos, combined with fully enraged Q true damage.
“27 seconds, huh…” Breathe glanced at Viego, who was itching to greedily take the cannon minion.
And was also regenerating a large amount of health.
“Be careful, Thresh has recalled. He might roam mid or top soon.”
Despite his level advantage, Breathe couldn’t bring himself to kill Theshy outright.
Thresh’s return from base to top lane would take at least 30 seconds.
“Waiting for you to use R!” Breathe grunted, aiming at where Viego would land, releasing his third stage R.
The jungler Graves had died twice, disrupting the jungle rhythm.
The enemy support was not only a ferocious Lux but also a Thresh who shone brilliantly.
Fingers flexing, Breathe pressed E.
Just as Gwen’s next E was about to turn, Breathe moved in close again, scaring Viego into using his ultimate and retreating.
This is why Gwen, despite several nerfs over the patches, still reigns supreme as the queen of the solo lane in pro play.
Meanwhile, the opposing Ezreal was cowardly beyond belief. If he dared to dive the tower, the chance of being counter-killed was very high. Even a healer must make sense.
The situation was far from clear; three kills had been claimed, two by Breathe.
Elk only breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Thresh recall.
The pale ghostly lantern floated lightly over Viego, a faint white shield appeared.
Though thin, the shield carried the light of rebirth, enduring Gwen’s triple ultimate onslaught.
In the end, Viego’s health was left with a mere ten points.
“Thresh! It’s Thresh’s W! If heaven had feelings, it would grow old. I hold a second for Theshy! This Thresh! Amazing! Wherever there’s war, there’s his shadow! When did he sneak up to top? I didn’t even notice!” Jide’s voice soared instantly.
