Looking at the little girl in his arms, Yun Yi smiled even more broadly as she extended her fair hand to cover her jade-like face, yet she kept peeking through the gaps between her fingers from time to time.

What a mischievous little sprite she was; how could he not adore her?

With a wickedly charming smile, he suddenly spoke, "There is a good show tonight. Would you like to go and see it?"

Upon hearing this, Luo Qingyao’s interest was instantly piqued. Forgetting her embarrassment, she asked curiously, "What kind of show?"

"You only need to tell me if you want to go or not; leave the rest to your master," Yun Yi replied, deliberately keeping her in suspense instead of revealing the details.

This thoroughly stirred Luo Qingyao's curiosity. She nodded her head as eagerly as a chick pecking at rice, "Yes, yes, yes! I want to go so much!"

"Very well, let us go have dinner then," Yun Yi said. He released Luo Qingyao and, taking her small hand in his, led her out of the room.

At that moment, Luo Chucheng had finished preparing a table full of dishes. Just as he was about to call them, he saw the two walking out hand-in-hand. His face immediately lit up with a beaming smile, and he went to greet them, "My dear daughter, dinner is ready!"

"Wow, it smells delicious! Father, what good things did you make for me today?" Even before entering the room, Luo Qingyao caught the enticing aroma of the food and could not help but look intoxicated.

"All sorts of good things!" Luo Chucheng said with a gentle smile, his eyes filled with immense joy.

"Hm? What kind of day is it today that you’ve made so much food? You usually only make one dish for me, and no matter how long I beg, you never add another!" Luo Qingyao said, running to her father’s side to hug his arm, her face full of curiosity and scrutiny. "Tell me, are you hiding something from me?"

Luo Chucheng gently shook off her hand, ignoring her judgmental gaze. "Today is a special day. Don't you know?"

"I know?" Luo Qingyao pointed her jade-like finger at the tip of her own nose, asking back, "What should I know?"

In an instant, she turned to look at Yun Yi, who was smiling far too broadly. "Master, do you know?"

Yun Yi smiled but remained silent, merely shaking his head to indicate he did not.

Luo Qingyao turned back to her father. "Stop keeping me in suspense. Tell me, what kind of day is it? I know the three days you care about most: Mother’s birthday, the anniversary of Mother’s passing, and my own birthday. But today is none of those. How do you expect me to guess?"

Luo Chucheng laughed heartily at her words. He took Luo Qingyao’s hand in one of his and Yun Yi’s in the other, then placed Luo Qingyao’s hand into Yun Yi’s. "Today there is much to celebrate. First, my daughter defeated that arrogant peacock, Lan Ruoshui, and even dealt a heavy blow to the reputation of the Jade Pure Palace. Wouldn't you say that is worth celebrating?"

Luo Qingyao glanced at Yun Yi and nodded. "Well, I suppose that is worth celebrating."

At the thought of how miserable she had made Jade Dragonfly, Luo Qingyao could hardly suppress a laugh.

"Second, and most importantly, my Yao'er can finally get married!"

"Pfft!" No sooner had Luo Chucheng finished his sentence than Luo Qingyao spat out her breath in shock. She struggled to suppress the urge to burst into laughter and looked at her father with a pained expression, "My dear father, who on earth told you that?"
