Chapter 32: That’s Better
"I certainly want to be strong, but if you won't teach me, Master, how am I supposed to learn?" Luo Qingyao dodged his hand as he tried to pat her head, her face etched with displeasure.
"Do you truly wish to learn?" Yun Yi smiled with the cunning of a fox. His eyes glimmered with a brilliance akin to a thousand shards of colored glass, so dazzling it was hard to keep one's eyes open, and his tone carried a hint of seduction.
"Obviously, I want to learn. I don't want to hide at home forever, too afraid to step outside, and I certainly don't want people pointing fingers at me and calling me a good-for-nothing! I want to be strong. Even if I don't join the Jade Pure Palace, I want to be someone formidable—preferably someone who can surpass Yu Qingting, hmph!" Luo Qingyao brandished her small fists, gritting her teeth as she spoke.
"That's easy to arrange. As long as you listen to me from now on, I guarantee you will become stronger than Yu Qingting, perhaps even surpass Feng Qingjue!" Watching Luo Qingyao's adorable expression, the smile in Yun Yi's eyes deepened, though his words were increasingly devious.
Luo Qingyao turned, her watery eyes fixed on him as she asked, enunciating each word, "Can you guarantee that?"
Yun Yi raised an eyebrow. "How about I swear an oath to you, Master?"
"Fine, from now on, I'll listen to everything you say!" In order to increase her cultivation, Luo Qingyao was ready to go all out.
Upon hearing this, Yun Yi laughed happily, a flash of elusive mischief crossing his eyes. "Good girl." *I shall certainly train you into a perfectly obedient and devoted disciple.*
"What about this Hunyuan Heart Method? What am I supposed to do with it?" Ignoring his smug expression, Luo Qingyao held up the scroll and asked with a hint of dissatisfaction. "If I had known I couldn't learn from it, I wouldn't have gone through all that trouble to swipe it from Old Man Ning!" She tossed the scroll back to Yun Yi as she spoke.
Yun Yi caught the Hunyuan Heart Method, his smile turning exceptionally wicked. "Do you promise you'll never touch this book again?"
"If I can't learn it, what use is it to me?" Luo Qingyao didn't even look up.
"I only said you couldn't learn it *now*, not that you wouldn't be able to in the future."
"Is there a difference?"
"Of course there is!"
"Then tell me, what is the difference? How can a good-for-nothing without spiritual roots learn spiritual arts?" Luo Qingyao looked up, her clear eyes filled with a spark of determination.
"The spiritual arts in this book can only be practiced by those who are good-for-nothings without spiritual roots!" Yun Yi smiled and opened the book, placing it before her.
Luo Qingyao looked down at the page and saw a line of text clearly written there: *In my youth, possessing no spiritual roots and being fated for none of the spiritual arts, I spent my entire life researching this volume. To practice this art, one must first be incapable of gathering spiritual energy—a natural-born good-for-nothing.*
Luo Qingyao stared at the characters for a long time before finally looking up at Yun Yi in excitement. "So, there was once another person who was a good-for-nothing without spiritual roots, and to be able to practice, they researched this book! This person is truly remarkable!"
"So, do you still want to throw it away?" Yun Yi countered with a question, his smile now exceptionally gentle.
Luo Qingyao immediately snatched it back from Yun Yi as if it were a treasure, clutching it tightly to her chest. "I want it, I want it! I can't practice now, but that doesn't mean I won't be able to later!"
"That's a good girl. You cannot practice now because you lack the necessary conditions. When the time is ripe, you will naturally be able to, and you will possess all five elemental spiritual arts!" Yun Yi said, looking on with satisfaction as Luo Qingyao cradled the Hunyuan Heart Method.
