Chapter 10: The Sky Transforms, Day Turns to Night
“Mo Liuli, you rebellious daughter!”
Mo Yuan unleashed all the frustration, suppression, and disappointment he had felt toward Mo Liuli over the past few days. As a seventh-rank warrior, his spiritual pressure surged forth, pressing down heavily on her.
This proud eldest daughter was truly defiant. If he didn’t teach her a lesson today, she would continue to rebel whenever she wanted to soar to the heavens. After all, the child in her womb was illegitimate. The miscarriage potion he had previously administered had failed to expel the fetus, but if he could force out that bastard this time, it would be even better. It would save him the trouble of worrying about this royal marriage matter.
The spiritual pressure of a seventh-rank warrior was undoubtedly adding insult to injury for Mo Liuli, who was already in agony. Cold sweat soaked her hair and clothes. Enduring the pain, she suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Just like the last time she coughed blood, there were tiny white larvae mixed within it, wriggling conspicuously on the ground. Mo Yuan’s pupils constricted sharply at the sight of these blood worms. Hastily, he reined in his spiritual pressure and reached out to steady Mo Liuli, who was about to collapse. Lady Leng did the same, pushing away Mo Ruyan’s assistance and crying out, “Li’er!”
Mo Liuli felt her blood surging and her head growing heavy; her entire body weakened.
The moment she closed her eyes, she seemed to catch a faint, pleasant fragrance. In the blur, she saw a flash of silvery white light but passed out before she could see the face clearly. The torment in her abdomen had drained too much of her strength, and her belly felt as if it were about to burst.
At that moment, the sky darkened ominously; wild winds howled, and thick black clouds gathered, completely replacing the previous white haze.
Mo Yuan felt a tremendous power suddenly arise, blocking his movements. The mysterious force pressed down so heavily before him that he could not lift his head. Daylight turned pitch black, adding an aura of terror to this power.
The ancestral patriarch of the Mo family was a Dou-rank summoner whose abilities could shake an entire continent thrice over. This sudden aura was perhaps even stronger than the ancestor himself! With this thought, Mo Yuan’s body trembled, desperate to see who stood before him, yet the opposing force held him immobile.
Fragile Lady Leng had already fainted from the sudden change in weather, and Mo Ruyan, aside from her initial scream, was trembling in fear. She had no time to help the unconscious Lady Leng and instead crouched alone on the ground, crying and curling up.
Mo Liuli’s lower abdomen bulged sharply, vaguely forming a round shape. The energy within was in chaos, and cold sweat continued to pour from her body.
Xiao Junwang gently lifted Mo Liuli. Feeling her icy body, his usually impassive face twitched slightly before a pale blue glow radiated softly around him. The warm light flowed gently over Mo Liuli, encasing her securely within it.
He rose lightly on his toes. Where his feet touched, vivid phoenixes engulfed in flames appeared, their ethereal forms complementing his silver-white aura with an otherworldly elegance.
“Long’er, how can you be so mischievous?” Xiao Junwang whispered softly to the small bulge on Mo Liuli’s belly, a mixture of helplessness and affection in his voice.
The protrusion seemed to understand his words and gently recessed, easing Mo Liuli’s stomach from its intense throbbing, as tiny movements could be faintly seen with the naked eye.
Xiao Junwang gazed at Mo Liuli’s serene and cold visage, his heart stirred. It was the first time he had been so close to another person, and that person was a woman. This gave him an indescribably strange feeling.
Wherever he went, the dark gloom brightened and shimmered brilliantly. Across the sky during the day, he was the only point of light; everywhere else remained engulfed in boundless darkness.
