Chapter 62: The Whisperwind Forest (Part 2)
"I know, I know, I'm not a child!" Hen Queqian tossed her head back, completely unbothered by Leng Feng's warnings and finding him quite nagging. Yet, even as she allowed Leng Feng to pull her along by the hand, she couldn't help but chuckle secretly to herself.
Though neither had explicitly defined the relationship between them, Leng Feng, you belong to me from now on. If you ever dare to fancy anyone else, watch out or I'll kick your third leg right off!
"What are you giggling about?" Sensing that Hen Queqian had grown quiet behind him, Leng Feng wondered what she was up to. He turned his head and discovered that Hen Queqian was walking along with a silly, absent-minded grin on her face. At this sight, Leng Feng frowned slightly and asked.
"Nothing, nothing, when was I giggling? If you ask me, your eyes must be crooked, which is why you're hallucinating!" Hearing Leng Feng's inquiry and having her pleasant daydreams interrupted, Hen Queqian glared at him.
"Look quickly, there's a chicken over there! Hurry, hurry, chase after it and kill it! Just in time, I can show off my culinary skills and let you witness what a true delicacy really is!" Catching a glimpse of a colorful figure out of the corner of her eye, Hen Queqian looked over and cried out urgently to Leng Feng upon seeing his face instantly lengthen at her remark about his crooked eyes.
At these words, Leng Feng turned his head to look and saw that it was merely a colorful chicken—the lowest of low-tier beasts, identical to an ordinary wild animal except for being slightly stronger and faster. Leng Feng was extremely reluctant to kill such a creature, feeling it beneath his dignity.
However, Hen Queqian beside him was urging him on with great impatience. Though highly displeased, Leng Feng nevertheless darted forward, approaching the colorful chicken without even needing to draw his sword, and reached out a hand.
Noticing a human suddenly appear beside it, the colorful chicken let out a shrill cluck and fluttered its wings to escape. But just as it began to flap its wings, Leng Feng's hand had already gripped its neck, and with a single twist, he ended its life.
Hen Queqian was overjoyed. This was the first time in this world she had ever laid eyes on something resembling a chicken from her past life. Back in her previous life, she had been known as the chicken executioner, a true connoisseur of poultry!
In those years, countless creatures resembling chickens had met their doom at her hands. Rushing forward, she discovered that the ostrich-sized colorful chicken had already had its neck snapped by Leng Feng. Seeing this, Hen Queqian praised, "You beast, you beast! So ruthless against your own kind, ending a life with a single twist. Such clean and crisp methods, I'm impressed, truly impressed..."
"What kind of nonsense are you babbling about?" You were the one who wanted the chicken killed, I did the dirty work, yet you call me a beast and imply I'm of the same kind as a chicken? Furious, Leng Feng dropped the colorful chicken right in front of Hen Queqian.
"Why are you getting angry, you narrow-minded person? Wasn't I just praising you?" Hen Queqian rolled her eyes at Leng Feng, squatted down beside the colorful chicken, and began to salivate continuously.
"Tell me, how should we cook this? Should we braise it in soy sauce, deep-fry it, or make beggar's chicken?" Hen Queqian looked up at Leng Feng with a greedy gaze and asked.
Leng Feng's mouth twitched in exasperation. "We're not eating me, we're eating it!"
"Oh, oh, right, right! I was just asking you! Actually, I'd rather eat you instead!" Hen Queqian smiled with feigned shyness. Seeing Leng Feng's expression shift once more, she quickly changed the subject. "So how should we cook it? It's so huge; if we tried to make the whole thing into beggar's chicken, who knows how long it would take to cook through!"
