Chapter 64 Unveiling the Truth
Lvluo’s remarks somewhat caught me off guard.
The young woman who had just harbored such bitter hatred toward me had surprisingly changed her perspective on me at this very moment.
This was somewhat unexpected.
Yet, upon a second thought, it was quite reasonable. After all, everyone capable of walking out of that top floor alive was an extraordinary elite among men.
Even the club’s owner had never possessed the courage to go in and take a stroll there.
"Chen Qiyue, I take back my previous misunderstanding of you. You are formidable. Just as formidable as your grandfather!"
Hearing her say this, I no longer found it appropriate to vent my anger upon her.
I could only offer her a faint smile, while a series of question marks arose in my mind:
Whose body was that headless male corpse on the top floor of the club?
By whom was his head severed?
Was the mark between Liu Qingqing’s eyebrows related to that headless male corpse?
Faced with these bewilderments, I remained utterly baffled for a moment.
Logically speaking, he had been sealed on the top floor, with soul-suppressing talismans guarding the entrance.
Unless Liu Qing entered, it was unlikely she would have caught his attention.
However, Liu Qing had come together with her mother; it was practically impossible for her to wander around alone, not to mention the strict security here, which would never allow the club staff to let her in.
Could it be that I was overthinking, and Liu Qingqing truly had nothing to do with the malevolent spirits inside this club?
Suddenly, a strange hypothesis popped into my head.
If this evil entity truly wanted to emerge on its own, who could possibly stop him?
Could this be the exact reason why Liu Qing fell victim to his influence?
Thinking of this, I immediately turned to Lvluo by my side and said:
"Lvluo, take me to the surveillance room. I want to check the security footage from the day the mother and daughter of the Liu family came here."
Perhaps having witnessed with her own eyes my departure from the top floor, Lvluo’s attitude toward me had improved considerably.
Hearing my request, Lvluo promptly led the way, and I followed closely behind her until we quickly arrived at the surveillance room.
Knowing the approximate time of her arrival, I sat inside the surveillance room and rewound the footage step by step.
I dragged the video all the way back to the moment the mother and daughter of the Liu family entered, and then I slowly began playing it forward.
I stared unblinkingly at the screen, terrified of missing even a single detail.
Soon, I saw from the footage that the mother and daughter of the Liu family had gone up to the second floor, presumably for routine body care treatments.
It seemed that Madam Liu had merely brought her daughter along for ordinary body maintenance, without venturing up to the third or fourth floors, thereby avoiding any contact with the infant-ghost technicians and minor fiends.
Such a circumstance brought a slight sense of relief to my mind.
After all, Madam Liu had treated me fairly well, and I held deep respect for her.
Liu Qing seemed to intensely dislike the environment here. Barely into her body treatment for a short while, she stood up and walked out of the private suite on the second floor.
Throughout the entire process, her expression was calm, bearing no resemblance to someone controlled by an evil entity.
After stepping out of the suite, Liu Qing walked straight toward the entrance.
It looked as though she had no intention of lingering and was preparing to leave directly.
Up to this point in the surveillance footage, everything still appeared normal.
However, just as she was about to depart, she suddenly stopped.
She slowly turned around and looked behind her.
From the perspective of the video, there was no one in front of her, yet she indeed looked.
Next, an even more bizarre scene unfolded.
Liu Qing actually began to speak to the empty air in front of her, appearing quite intimate with that unseen fellow.
In the end, she even flashed a very pure and sweet smile toward the empty space ahead.
After smiling, she waved her hand in a farewell gesture before turning around and leaving.
My heart sank completely, and my previous conjecture was verified.
That headless male corpse on the top floor had likely managed to leave this women’s club without anyone noticing.
And Liu Qing’s conversation with the empty air in the video was very likely a dialogue with that male ghost.
Yet this also filled me with perplexity and confusion.
Could a male ghost whom I failed to perceive even after activating my Heavenly Eyes and casting the [Demon-Revealing Technique] possibly be seen by an ordinary person like Liu Qing?
This outcome left me somewhat dumbfounded.
What on earth was his purpose in manifesting himself for Liu Qing to see?
What exactly had they communicated with one another?
This situation had now become something I urgently desired to uncover.
At that moment, the words the old man had once spoken to me echoed in my ears again:
"Chen Qiyue, you must watch out for a person. She is the greatest variable in your destiny. She is the fiancée your grandfather chose for you, Liu Qingqing."
The mere thought that Liu Qing had met with that male ghost and conversed with him for a while made my inner heart grow restless and anxious.
"Lvluo, you have seen the video as well. My friend has indeed contracted an evil wraith while at your establishment. Shouldn't your club do something about this?"
I had no intention of beating around the bush and directly pointed out to Lvluo what was revealed in the footage.
As expected of someone accustomed to the ways of the world, Lvluo was clever and careful not to leave any handle for others to use against her. She deftly replied to me:
"How this matter actually stands cannot be judged merely by a single video clip. As for how to handle it, I will consult our boss later and see what decision she makes."
Hearing Lvluo respond in this manner, I understood precisely what she meant to convey.
This old fox was clearly terrified of bearing responsibility.
Seeing that the appointed time for breaking through the door with Uncle Hu was fast approaching, I had no time to waste bickering with Lvluo here.
I addressed her directly:
"Fine then. Please pass a message to Sister Hua for me. I will be back."
With that, I turned around and left the Haituilan Women's Club without looking back.
As I emerged, Blind Li immediately hurried over to greet me.
I could distinctly sense that upon my exit from the women’s club, Blind Li let out a long sigh of relief.
His reaction helped dispel a significant portion of my suspicions.
Nevertheless, I did not completely trust him; he seemed to have anticipated everything about me all along.
I refused to believe that he had merely come to watch the commotion.
"How did it go, Qiyue? Have you figured out the situation inside?"
Blind Li stroked his greasy hair with his hand, a sight that somewhat churned my stomach.
I said to him slowly:
"The situation inside has basically been figured out. No wonder this women's club has been able to stand tall here for so many years without falling; its construction and layout were all crafted by a master of metaphysical arts."
"What is even more terrifying is that the inside is actually filled with..."
Stopping myself deliberately right there, I stretched my arms and limbered up my body.
"You brat, stop keeping me in suspense. What on earth is inside? Tell me right now. Waiting out here for you has been nerve-wracking enough for me."
Uncle Blind Li took another puff of his dry tobacco pipe and slowly blew smoke rings into midair.
"Qiyue, tell me. What is the main entity inside? Is its might overwhelming?"
