Chapter 59 Calm and Tranquil
Mo Sang's leisurely expression froze as he ground his teeth and glared angrily at the grinning figure opposite him.
What grave sin had he committed in a past life? Why did these two scoundrels from the Lin family constantly cross paths with him and make his life difficult?
It wasn't that he didn't know the answer, but the sight of Lin Chuyi's gloating, smug expression made his teeth itch with irritation. Didn't he just—well, just... did these two wretches really have to hold such a grudge?
Lin Qiyue and Lin Chuyi were absolute accomplices. Seeing that Mo Sang remained silent, Lin Qiyue unhurriedly taunted him, "Young Master Mo, you'd better think it through carefully. All of us here are watching you."
As soon as these words fell, the people standing close by immediately began to jeer and hoot. Those further away couldn't hear what was actually happening, but seeing everyone in front shouting towards Mo Sang, they blindly joined in the commotion as well.
The collective roar of hundreds, if not thousands, of people was no joking matter. Mo Sang's expression shifted drastically before he abruptly made a fierce dash to the very edge of the crowd, shouting back at them.
However, how could his voice possibly carry that far? Only a handful of people directly in front of him could hear him. Yet the villagers had no intention of letting him off the hook; seeing him shout back only spurred them on to make even more noise.
"Hahahaha!" Watching Mo Sang's flustered and embarrassed state, Lin Chuyi felt immensely gratified and burst into uninhibited laughter, throwing all poise to the wind.
Lin Jiuyue's face flushed red with embarrassment as she gently nudged Lin Chuyi's arm. "Eldest Sister."
Lin Chuyi waved her hand dismissively, laughing to her heart's content.
Whether by sheer coincidence or deliberate design on Mo Yu's part, the moment Lin Chuyi's laughter subsided, his voice rang out clearly, "Quiet."
Mo Sang was still shouting when he noticed that the previously unruly and chaotic crowd instantly began to quiet down. He was completely dumbfounded. Heavens above, that was simply too formidable! This was the aura and authority of a true master—an absolute idol!
When Mo Yu turned his gaze toward him, he caught sight of a pair of bright, starry eyes brimming with pure worship, staring at him intently like a tiger eyeing its prey. Mo Yu's mouth twitched involuntarily; that look was an exact replica of the one Lin Qiyue had given him previously.
Mo Yu nodded and said, "Answer the question."
"Yes, yes, of course!" Mo Sang immediately nodded obediently.
Lin Chuyi was dumbstruck. What on earth was going on? Wasn't this arrogant jerk just shouting back at the villagers defiantly a moment ago? Why was he suddenly so tame and obedient now?
Naturally, she could not understand a martial artist's deep reverence for martial arts prowess. In Mo Sang's eyes, Mo Yu currently stood at the absolute peak of martial arts, a towering figure worthy of his utmost respect.
"Just now, the young lady offered the line 'A long river, the setting sun is round,' and I answered 'The wind is calm and the waves are still.' Is that correct or not?" Mo Sang cupped his fists in a salute toward the young woman still standing upon the elevated platform.
When he actually managed to put on a serious face, he didn't look completely hopeless after all, Lin Chuyi muttered quietly to herself.
The young woman took another step forward, nodded shyly, and replied, "The young master's answer is spot on."
"Wonderful!"
Thunderous applause and cheers instantly erupted from beneath the high platform, creating a lively uproar.
Mo Sang immediately reverted to his true colors, raising an eyebrow with immense self-satisfaction. "Hahahaha! You flatter me, you flatter me. Keep up the good work, my brothers!"
With that, he sauntered back to his seat with an exaggerated swagger.
"Eldest Sister, this young master actually seems quite formidable."
Lin Chuyi, who was still silently despising Mo Sang for reverting to his obnoxious self, instantly bristled at these words. "Jiuyue, what are you saying? You must not fall for him!"
Lin Jiuyue's face turned beet red. Oh dear, what was Eldest Sister talking about? She had merely made an objective observation; how on earth did that translate to falling for him?
Seeing that Lin Jiuyue remained silent, Lin Chuyi assumed she really had taken a fancy to that scoundrel Mo Sang. Hastily, she began to advise her in a deep, earnest tone, "Jiuyue, you truly cannot take a liking to him. That jerk, he, he... Oh, anyway, just listen to your sister: you are forbidden from falling for him!"
