Chapter 5: A Thrilling Collision
Observing every reaction of Chu Yi, the corner of the man’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to grab this woman and spank her.
Time seemed to stand still in that moment; there was nothing but the sound of the wind rustling through the grass and the man’s increasingly shallow breathing. Yet, Chu Yi was still inching forward, barely a yard from the cave entrance.
A short while passed, perhaps the time it takes for half a stick of incense to burn. Though they had only been ten meters apart to begin with, after all that time, seven or eight meters still remained between them.
The man’s brows furrowed deeply. Finally, losing his patience, he said, “I will count to three. If you are not in front of me by then, I will kill you. Three...”
“Ah!” As expected, the man’s tactic was highly effective. No sooner had the words left his lips than Chu Yi let out a startled cry and sprinted toward him, clutching the box tightly.
Seeing that Chu Yi was finally moving, the man secretly let out a sigh of relief. If he didn't take the medicinal herb soon, he feared he would be joining the others in the afterlife.
However, the moment he exhaled, he saw the rushing Chu Yi suddenly fly straight at him! The man stared wide-eyed at the "dangerous projectile" hurtling toward him, but he was powerless to act; he didn't even have the strength to twitch a muscle.
Thud!
Finally, their bodies collided violently, and the momentum sent them both crashing hard into the ground.
Crack.
“Ugh.” The man let out a muffled groan, swallowing the blood that had spilled to the corner of his mouth.
“I—I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to, it really wasn't my fault! I accidentally tripped over that person’s foot, so...” Lin Chuyi looked down at the man she had flattened, her face twisted in distress and her eyes wide with fear. Would he kill her now to silence her? She had clearly heard the sound of a bone snapping just now...
The man took a deep breath and roared, his voice incredibly weak, “You... get off.”
Hearing this, Lin Chuyi realized she was still shamelessly pinning down a severely injured patient. What a sin, what a terrible sin.
After a moment of internal penance, she scrambled to her feet, hanging her head and staring at her toes like a child who had done something wrong.
The man clenched his fists. Looking at Lin Chuyi standing there, he longed to drag her over and give her a beating!
Can’t you see I can’t get up? Can’t you at least help me up!
Of course, these words remained unspoken. He wanted to say them, but given his current physical state, he truly couldn't...
Lin Chuyi stood there anxiously, waiting for her fate to be sealed. But after waiting for another half-stick of incense, she heard absolutely nothing.
Is he dead?
Thinking this, she quickly looked down at the man on the ground, only to find her gaze locked into a pair of eyes that could only be described as… resentful?
Yes, absolutely resentful.
“Uh, so, what is going on here?” Lin Chuyi stared blankly at the man on the ground, clutching the box containing the Orchid Fruit, completely bewildered by the situation.
The man couldn't help but close his eyes and take a few deep breaths before saying weakly, “Take the fruit out… and feed it to me…” As he finished, it was as if he had lost half his life; he panted incessantly, and with every breath, a fresh stream of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
Lin Chuyi stared at him, dumbfounded, and asked, “Do you mean... you can’t move at all right now?”
