Yet Song Heqing truly did not understand why Su Tang was upset. He followed closely behind her, pacing back and forth. As Su Tang hung up her clothes, Song Heqing suddenly embraced her from behind. Startled, Su Tang was still somewhat annoyed and thus dragged Song Heqing along slowly as they walked. Resting his head atop hers, Song Heqing laughed joyfully. It wasn’t until Su Tang passed by the full-length mirror that she caught sight of Song Heqing’s unabashed grin.
Su Tang: “……………”
Realizing he had been caught, Song Heqing quickly apologized, “Sorry, wrong move.”
Su Tang: “……………………” That apology was far too blunt and hasty.
Seeing Su Tang unconvinced, Song Heqing stood up and turned her around to face him. Gently brushing aside the bangs on her forehead, he softly asked, “What’s really wrong? Why is my darling upset?”
Su Tang felt awkward and reluctant to speak. She certainly couldn’t say, “I want to sleep with you,” as she wondered how Song Heqing might perceive her then. With that thought, she sighed and turned away to tidy up her things. “It’s nothing.”
Song Heqing blinked in mild confusion, clearly uncertain how to proceed. Su Tang nearly finished packing, crouching by her suitcase and pulling it up. Song Heqing squatted opposite her, watching her busy movements. Whenever Su Tang glanced his way, she met his gaze with a look of grievance.
Su Tang tried hard not to look at him, knowing each glance was like a blow to her carefully maintained composure. Song Heqing simply couldn’t understand why she was upset, so he did his best to be kind and cheer her up. He wouldn’t pry into the reasons behind her anger; everyone has secrets, and asking too much isn’t right.
After setting the dishes for Su Tang, Song Heqing ladled a bowl of soup for her. “I just made some pork rib soup. Try it and see how you like it.”
Su Tang accepted the bowl cautiously, finding the temperature just right—not too hot.

She took a sip, and her eyes lit up immediately. “Delicious!”
Seeing Su Tang’s energy return, Song Heqing smiled happily. “If you like it, drink more. I cooked plenty today. Packing must have tired you out?”
In truth, Su Tang hadn’t packed much. If anyone was tired, it was Song Heqing’s assistant, who had to endure Manager Hong’s scolding while moving things.
Just like that, Su Tang’s earlier unhappiness floated away lightly, and the two began living together. Although it felt more like roommates, Su Tang was still very happy. Song Heqing didn’t have much work, and whenever he came home, he stayed to keep her company.
But today was different. Song Heqing came home holding a file. Su Tang didn’t think much of it at first; he had brought home files before, none concerning her.
But today was clearly different. Su Tang was sprawled on the sofa watching TV when Song Heqing entered and placed the file in her lap.
Su Tang blinked in confusion, then sat up. She put down the chips on the coffee table and wiped her hands with a tissue before picking up the file.
Looking at Song Heqing, who was now sitting beside her, she asked, “Is this for me?”
Song Heqing naturally wrapped an arm around her waist and rested his head lightly against her neck. “Yes, open it and see.”
Su Tang opened the file and immediately saw the bold title: a contract with Song Heqing’s company.
She glanced at it and then closed the file. “This is for me?”
Song Heqing nodded and pulled the document back out for her. “Look at the benefits. Are you satisfied?”
After reviewing it, Su Tang returned the file.
Seeing this, Song Heqing asked, “You’re not happy with it?”
Su Tang shook her head. “No, I’m just too happy. The benefits are amazing, but I… I feel it’s too good for me.”
Song Heqing smiled. “What’s wrong with that? You’ve rested for months; it’s time to start working again, right?”
If he hadn’t mentioned it, Su Tang might have forgotten how long she’d been idle. But those lazy days had been so comfortable, time had slipped by without notice.

Su Tang had thought about what to do next but remained uncertain. She planned to sign with a company eventually but never expected Song Heqing to bring the contract directly to their home.
Song Heqing spread the documents across the table. “This one isn’t too bad,” he said, handing her a pen.
Su Tang hesitated as she looked at the contract before her. Suddenly, she turned to Song Heqing. “Darling, tell me—is this something you asked for on my behalf?”
Otherwise, how could someone of her level enjoy such excellent benefits?
Song Heqing was taken aback, not expecting her thought process to reach that conclusion.
His silence clearly implied assent.
Seeing this, Su Tang threw the pen onto the coffee table. “I don’t want to sign this contract. I want to use my own strength to find a company that suits me.” Just thinking about Song Heqing having to ask for this on her behalf made her heart ache.
Unable to hold back, Song Heqing laughed aloud. “Haha, darling, what are you saying?”
He cupped her face, looking at her serious expression, and kissed her cheek with a smile.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t ask anyone. I have shares in this company too. If I wanted to sign someone, would I need anyone’s permission?”
Su Tang’s serious expression slowly turned to shock. “You… have shares everywhere?”
Song Heqing placed the pen back in her hand. “When I was acting before, I thought about starting small businesses. I couldn’t always rely on acting because I wasn’t popular then. After finishing one project with no next role lined up, I began investing gradually. It’s become a habit now.”
Hearing Song Heqing’s explanation finally put Su Tang at ease. Though she had some hesitation, looking into his hopeful eyes, she ultimately signed the contract.
After she signed, Song Heqing divided the contract into two copies—one for Su Tang, one for himself.
Su Tang still felt a bit unreal—within ten minutes, she had directly signed with the industry leader.
“When do I start working?” Su Tang asked Song Heqing.
“That depends on Manager Hong’s arrangements.” Song Heqing picked up their contracts and put them away.
“Manager Hong is my agent?” Su Tang was surprised. “Has she agreed? Isn’t she very busy?”
