After getting out of the car, Su Tang walked slowly into the banquet hall. Every step was elegant and exuded an air of wealth and refinement. Anyone who did not know her might have mistaken her for some currently popular celebrity.

There were already quite a few people inside, though they were all entertainers. The big names were probably gathered farther in.

Su Tang simply hid in a corner and quietly ate some desserts.

Once the food reached her stomach, she felt much better.

When more people had arrived, Su Tang went to the nearby restroom to touch up her makeup. By the time she came out, nearly everyone had arrived.

Holding her phone, Su Tang walked out of the restroom while complaining to Song Heqing about her agency.

Su Tang: “I just ate something. At least I’m not quite so hungry anymore, TVT.”

Song Heqing was clearly worried about her as well. “Eat a little more to fill your stomach. I’ll take you out for hot pot tonight.”

Su Tang was delighted. “Then, darling, are you coming back tonight? Are you done with work?”

Song Heqing: “I’m done. I only had a cameo.”

Song Heqing: “[Hug emoji]”

Su Tang could not help laughing when she saw the emoji Song Heqing had sent her. To be honest, Song Heqing really did live like an old man.

Even when chatting with other people, he sounded like an elder, and he never sent any emojis, which made his messages seem rather stiff.

But after Su Tang had once complained to him in a pitiful voice, she began receiving those slightly old-fashioned emojis from Song Heqing every time they chatted.

That did nothing to diminish the sweetness she felt in her heart.

Su Tang was looking down at her conversation with Song Heqing and failed to notice the person in front of her. Before she knew it, she had bumped into someone.

She hurriedly looked up and apologized. “I’m sorry…” But she froze halfway through her words.

Shen Lu was standing in front of her, one eyebrow raised. “Who are you chatting with? You’re so engrossed that you don’t even watch where you’re going.”

Su Tang gave an awkward laugh and put away her phone. To be honest, she was pleasantly surprised to see Shen Lu here as well. At least she would not have to be so lonely.

“What brings you here?” Su Tang asked as she walked out with him.

“If you can come, why can’t I?” Shen Lu countered.

Su Tang playfully tapped him, as though they were on a variety show. “Who’s joking with you? I just remember that you rarely come to places like this.”

Shen Lu shrugged and cast Su Tang an amused look. “If I said I came because of you, would you believe me?”

Su Tang picked up a pastry and handed it to Shen Lu, then took one for herself. She clearly did not take his words seriously. “I wouldn’t believe you.”

Shen Lu stared intently at Su Tang. After a long moment, he sighed helplessly. “Fine. A friend invited me.”

As he spoke, Shen Lu took a small bite of the dessert Su Tang had given him. It was overly sweet and rich, making him frown instinctively.

However, the moment Su Tang looked over, his furrowed brows relaxed. He continued eating the dessert with an expressionless face.

“I knew it,” Su Tang said indistinctly, her mouth full.

Shen Lu’s gaze flickered as he looked at her. Then, without thinking, he reached out and wiped the cream from the corner of her lips.

This time, not only Su Tang but Shen Lu himself froze.

When he came to his senses, Shen Lu’s face immediately reddened. “Th-That is… You had some cream here.” He stammered out an explanation.

“Oh, oh…” Su Tang raised a hand to wipe the corner of her lips, only to find that Shen Lu had already cleaned it.

For some unknown reason, a commotion suddenly broke out ahead of them, but neither of them paid much attention to it.

“By the way…” Shen Lu lowered his head slightly and moved a little closer to Su Tang. In a quiet voice, he asked, “How is that matter with your agency? Do you need my help?”

Su Tang replied just as softly, “No, my boyfriend is handling it for me.”

Shen Lu froze at her words. He had not expected her to mention her boyfriend again.

His expression gradually grew solemn. Looking straight at Su Tang, he asked, “You really have a boyfriend?”

Su Tang nodded. “Yes. I really wasn’t lying to you.”

A complicated emotion flashed through Shen Lu’s eyes. Only then did he smile and ask, “When did this happen?”

Su Tang shrugged. “The time you called me last time. I really wasn’t lying to you.”

“Who… Who is your boyfriend?” Shen Lu pressed.

Su Tang hesitated, then shook her head. “I can’t say for now.”

A shadow passed through Shen Lu’s eyes, but he continued questioning her. “Do I know him?”

Su Tang nodded hesitantly. “That’s all I can tell you.”

“Hmm.” Shen Lu answered softly and said nothing more.

At that moment, Su Tang noticed a female entertainer from her agency looking toward them from a short distance away.

The woman had evidently noticed Su Tang looking at her as well. She curled her lips, raised an eyebrow, and lifted the wineglass in her hand toward Su Tang.

Su Tang could see the teasing in the woman’s eyes perfectly clearly. She frowned slightly and did not give her any further attention, quickly looking away. Someone like that was certainly not worth getting close to.

Shen Lu had genuinely wanted to help Su Tang, and he had been more than willing to do so. He had not expected that someone was already helping her—and that she had a boyfriend as well.

He could not describe the feeling in his heart. It was filled with disappointment. Just as he was about to ask Su Tang something else, a man slowly approached from the area that had been noisy for some time.

“Brother Song.” Shen Lu greeted him.

Su Tang was momentarily stunned, then turned to look behind her. She stared in surprise as Song Heqing slowly walked over, the delight on her face impossible to conceal.

“Brother Song, what brings you here?” Su Tang asked.

Song Heqing walked straight over and stopped between Su Tang and Shen Lu. Smiling, he ruffled both their hair. “You two are here. Why can’t I come?”

Su Tang grinned. “That’s not what I meant. I just didn’t expect you to get back so quickly.”

“Yes. I wonder who it was that was happily sending emojis one second, only to disappear the next.” Song Heqing’s voice was low enough for only the two of them to hear.

As he said this, he was also subtly declaring his claim over Su Tang.

Sure enough, a trace of surprise flashed through Shen Lu’s eyes as he looked at them. “Do you two often chat?”

Song Heqing nodded as though it were only natural. “Mm. We chat whenever we’re not busy. What’s wrong? Does Little Su not usually contact you?”

Shen Lu smiled with some difficulty and looked at Su Tang. “I imagine Su Tang has already forgotten I exist.”

Su Tang hurriedly defended herself. “Of course not. If you don’t message me, how could I possibly have the nerve to message you?”

Song Heqing smiled meaningfully and turned to Shen Lu. “I remember you don’t particularly enjoy attending events like this. What made you feel like coming today?”

The expression on Shen Lu’s face had already returned to normal. As he ate the dessert Su Tang had handed him, he replied, “A friend invited me. I had nothing else to do, so I came.”
