Chapter 4: The Gentle Leading Man and the Dark Red Rising Star
Su Tang lifted the hem of her dress and, ignoring the curious and surprised gazes of those around her, strode directly toward Song Heqing and, in full view of everyone, took a seat beside him.
Not only were the onlookers taken aback, but even Song Heqing glanced at her with surprise.
Su Tang leaned in slightly. "Sorry, senior, may I take this seat? No one else wants to sit with me."
Song Heqing raised an eyebrow as he looked at her but ultimately did not refuse.
He had recently filmed a variety show with Su Tang, but he admittedly held no favorable impression of her.
Though Su Tang sat beside him, she kept a respectful distance, maintaining a definite boundary between them.
Since they were still on the variety show, he did not refuse, though he only tacitly allowed it—casting a glance her way before turning his head back, not uttering a single word to her.
Su Tang had expected at least a few words since they had been on the show together, but Song Heqing remained aloof and cold.
With strangers, he was not particularly warm, likely due to years of dealing with unwanted attention.
Song Heqing’s vigilance was intense, leaving Su Tang no choice but to wait for the right moment to use her fox spirit charm on him.
Compared to Su Tang, who was widely disliked, Song Heqing was quite the sought-after figure; it wasn’t long before two well-known directors and film stars approached to greet him.
Su Tang saw that they ignored her and naturally wasn’t going to flatter herself to intrude.
A group came over to greet Song Heqing, who politely stood and moved aside to chat with them.
As they talked, one of them suddenly lowered his voice to Song Heqing: "Heqing, why are you sitting with Su Tang? Be careful tomorrow when the press starts buzzing about you two."
It was clear they all knew about Su Tang’s scandalous past and were warning Song Heqing to be cautious not to get entangled with her.
Song Heqing nodded perfunctorily, then instinctively glanced back at Su Tang.
He hadn’t expected her to be watching him so attentively; when their eyes met, Su Tang simply smiled sweetly.
In that instant, Song Heqing felt as if his heart skipped a beat. Quickly, he turned his head away, but the sudden flutter, the racing heartbeat, lingered briefly before fading.
He furrowed his brow lightly, sensing something strange but unable to pinpoint what.
The men continued discussing Su Tang’s eccentric and bizarre past exploits. Growing impatient, Song Heqing, who was not one to spread gossip behind others’ backs, found an excuse and returned to his seat.
Su Tang felt a little disappointed. [What’s going on? Could it be that Song Heqing is some kind of supernatural being too? Why doesn’t my charm work on him?]
001 was silent for a moment before replying, [Maybe it’s because he’s the protagonist? He must have some innate noble aura, so the charm doesn’t affect him.]
Su Tang sighed quietly. [Alright then.]
After being called away for a conversation, Su Tang had assumed Song Heqing would keep his distance and not return to that seat. Surprisingly, he came back shortly after and sat down in the same spot.
Su Tang was somewhat astonished and turned toward him with a polite smile, stubbornly attempting her charm again.
A subtle, undetectable glint of alluring crimson flickered in her eyes, and the atmosphere around them seemed to shift; Su Tang gazed at Song Heqing with seductive intent.
Yet, he only responded with a courteous nod, showing no other reaction.
Completely thwarted, Su Tang realized that if her magic didn’t work on Song Heqing, she would have to rely on her own strength.
But judging by his demeanor, this man would be a tough nut to crack... after all, he was exceptionally extraordinary.
