Su Tang smiled with a sense of relief. "Of course."

Only then did Wen Tian begin to feel somewhat reassured. If Su Tang had insisted on dwelling on the matter, things would have become even more complicated.

The little episode soon passed. Since one party had apologized and the other accepted, the rest had no grounds to say anything further.

Song Heqing handed Su Tang a tissue. "Here, wipe your tears."

Startled, Su Tang sniffed and said, "Thank you." Indeed, tears still welled up in her eyes, though she had perhaps overacted slightly, nearly letting a runny nose slip out.

The original owner’s appearance was quite similar to Su Tang’s. Especially now that Su Tang had arrived, her face looked even more like Su Tang’s original visage—more captivating.

Particularly with her nose and eyes reddened, she appeared even more endearing.

Song Heqing couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at Su Tang.

Although the awkward moment had passed, Su Tang didn’t walk alongside Wen Tian for the rest of the journey. Instead, she alternated between walking with Shen Lu and Song Heqing.

Wen Tian could only hold onto Chang Qinghua’s arm to avoid feeling too awkward.

It was clear the production team intended to make things difficult for them today, as by the afternoon’s end, they had only managed to bring back Su Tang’s lone chicken.

After returning, they discussed what to do with the chicken. Su Tang volunteered, "Why don’t we just prepare it properly and then put it in the fridge? We don’t know what might happen later."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Song Heqing then took the chicken to the kitchen to handle it.

Su Tang hadn’t forgotten her task and followed without hesitation.

Since the production’s accommodation only had one bathroom, everyone had to wait in line to wash up.

Wen Tian initially intended to follow but, seeing the state of his pant legs, decided to return to wash and change clothes first.

Chang Qinghua and Shen Lu did the same.

"I’ll help you," Su Tang said, rolling up her sleeves.

"Good, can you bring the kettle over?"

The two crouched facing each other, preparing the chicken. The process of killing the chicken was rather bloody and certainly wouldn’t be broadcast by the production team.

Though it seemed like they were working together, it was mainly Song Heqing doing the task, with Su Tang assisting.

Taking advantage of this moment, Su Tang wanted to deepen their relationship.

She looked at Song Heqing, who was diligently handling the wild chicken. "Brother Song, I didn’t expect you to be so skilled at preparing wild game."

"Can’t always buy it prepped, so after a few times, I got the hang of it." Song Heqing tossed some unwanted innards into the trash. "But you, I didn’t expect you to catch the only prey this afternoon. You’re pretty impressive."

Hearing Song Heqing’s words, Su Tang smiled sweetly like a child receiving praise. She touched her nose, feeling a bit shy. "No, no. I didn’t expect the toughness I had as a child and the things I learned back then to be useful."

Seeing Su Tang’s smile, Song Heqing couldn’t help but smile as well.

"Um… Brother Song..." Su Tang’s cheeks flushed slightly as she looked at him.

"Hmm? Do you have something to ask? Just ask."

Song Heqing continued skillfully working on the chicken, finishing quickly.

"Well..." Su Tang stood as Song Heqing did and followed suit. "I mean, I don’t know if you have a girlfriend now..."

She grew quieter and more bashful as she spoke.

Song Heqing paused, raised an eyebrow, and teased, "Little Su, why do you want to know?"

Su Tang pouted. After all, the meaning behind her question was obvious.

"Nothing," she said, looking away casually.

They fell silent. But when Song Heqing placed the prepared chicken in the fridge, Su Tang couldn’t hold back.

She poked Song Heqing’s lower back. "So, do you or don’t you?"

Song Heqing chuckled softly, closed the fridge door, and turned back to look at Su Tang.

Su Tang met his gaze and, locking eyes, silently cast a charm.

Tell me quickly, tell me quickly.

But Song Heqing merely reached out to pat Su Tang’s head before turning away.

Su Tang was stunned, dumbfounded. She covered her head and stared blankly as Song Heqing walked away.

[Tsk, tsk, tsk...]

Su Tang frowned in slight annoyance, feeling her confidence as a fox spirit had been undermined.

By the time they finished preparing the wild chicken, everyone else had finished washing up.

Su Tang returned to her room to find a change of clothes, pondering how to truly get closer to Song Heqing.

He was not easy to approach; with his status in the entertainment industry, he was surely surrounded by many admirers. She was just an ordinary person.

Sighing, she hugged her clothes and headed into the back washroom.

Her mind was preoccupied. Because of the show’s requirements, the production team usually turned on all the indoor lights near evening.

Without thinking, Su Tang opened the bathroom door while holding her clothes.

The instant the door swung open, her eyes caught sight of gleaming white chest muscles...

Su Tang froze and looked up, surprised to see Song Heqing.

He was equally startled by the sudden opening of the door, having just taken off his shirt, which was now hanging on his arm.

Noticing Su Tang’s intense gaze, Song Heqing frowned slightly. "You—"

Su Tang quickly realized her mistake, looked away, and stammered, "I—I didn’t know the bathroom door wasn’t locked..."

Song Heqing sighed helplessly. "It’s not your fault. I didn’t lock it properly." At the same time, he placed his hand on the doorframe, the message clear.

Su Tang understood immediately. As she turned to leave, she suddenly felt warmth beneath her nose.

Instinctively, she touched it and looked down to see bloodstains on her hand. "Huh?" She blinked.

"You—" Song Heqing hurriedly fetched a tissue and handed it to her.

Su Tang’s face flushed deeply as she dabbed at the nosebleed, too embarrassed to look up at Song Heqing.

Just from seeing his abs, she had a nosebleed—how humiliating.

Bending over slightly, Su Tang backed out of the bathroom. "Well, Brother Song, you go ahead and wash. I’ll go out first..."

With that, she quickly turned and returned to her room.

Song Heqing watched her flee, still standing where he was.

He smiled and shook his head before locking the bathroom door.

After observing her all day, he admitted that Su Tang was indeed very cute—a genuinely good person.

But that did not necessarily mean he liked her. So what was that sudden flutter in his heart?

Song Heqing still couldn’t understand. He was no longer a teenager and didn’t believe in love at first sight anymore.
