Chapter 3: The School Bully’s Redemption and Misunderstandings
“Jiang Changyuan, you—”
Student Council President Gu Qing began to sternly question him.
But Jiang Changyuan didn’t give him the chance to act all high and mighty!
He strode forward swiftly, kicked the spiky-haired boy flat onto the ground, then grabbed his collar and slammed him onto the lawn.
“Which damn class are you from, daring to use my name to bully others?”
“Got an itch, huh!”
The spiky-haired boy got up, ready to fight back, but upon seeing it was Jiang Changyuan, he immediately wilted.
He lowered his head nervously, cold sweat dripping from his temple.
From the spiky-haired boy’s observations, Jiang Changyuan usually didn’t come to school, so he had been extorting students under Jiang’s name to make some pocket money.
But today, he unexpectedly ran into the real deal.
“Jiang… Brother Jiang, actually, I’ve always admired you.”
“Cut the crap! You’re just abusing your power to scam money, aren’t you!”
Jiang Changyuan’s forehead veins bulged with anger. Had he arrived any later, he might have been seriously hurt by this idiot!
“Jiang Changyuan…”
Su Yingying cautiously poked her head out of the restroom, gently reminding, “It’s not good to curse.”
The spiky-haired boy’s face darkened as he turned to say, “Why are you sticking up for Jiang…”
“Shut up!”
Jiang Changyuan cut her off coldly, then took a deep breath to calm down, forcing a smile as he looked at Su Yingying.
“I understand, it won’t happen again.”
The spiky-haired boy nearly choked on his own spit, his face turning pale.
What on earth was going on?
The school bully was bowing to a female student?
Something was definitely off.
“What class are you in? What’s your name?”
“I… I’m Zhu Jing, from Class 3, Grade 2.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Changyuan’s eyes showed a hint of sympathy.
“So you’re a pig spirit after all…”
Zhu Jing, sweating profusely, shrugged helplessly.
“Bro, you should know which two characters I’m talking about, right?”
“Not important.”
Jiang Changyuan pointed at Su Yingying. “Pig spirit, apologize to her at once. We’re all classmates—how can you do such extortion? After all these years of schooling, did you just learn to be a dog?”
Zhu Jing swallowed hard, utterly dumbfounded.
If anyone else said that, he might have accepted it, but coming from Jiang Changyuan, it just seemed ridiculous.
Throughout the entire Experimental High School, who could outmatch him?
But in front of the school bully, Zhu Jing dared not be insolent. He hurried over to Su Yingying and bowed apologetically.
“Sorry!”
Su Yingying breathed a sigh of relief, smiling gently.
“Then I forgive you.”
Jiang Changyuan relaxed and kicked Zhu Jing’s backside.
“Get lost.”
Zhu Jing nodded repeatedly and slunk away in shame.
“Jiang Changyuan, thank you.”
Su Yingying stepped out of the restroom, her eyes curving like crescent moons.
“You helped me again.”
“No big deal, as long as you’re okay.”
Jiang Changyuan laughed heartily, then turned around with an expression as if he had just noticed Gu Qing.
“Isn’t this the Student Council President? What are you doing here?”
Gu Qing furrowed his brows and stood between Jiang and Su Yingying.
“Yingying, he’s no good. Stay away from him.”
Su Yingying frowned but bypassed Gu Qing, blinking her eyes at him.
“He’s a good person. He helped me just now and yesterday too, even took me out to eat.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Qing looked surprised.
He had only heard of Jiang Changyuan’s notorious reputation, never that he helped anyone.
“Yingying, you’re too naive. He might have ulterior motives. Don’t be fooled.”
Hearing this, Jiang Changyuan was furious.
After all his efforts to calm the situation, Gu Qing was deliberately stirring trouble?
The protagonist can do whatever he wants!
“He didn’t fool me. He’s done many good things.”
Su Yingying smiled sweetly, confident in her words.
“He’s a good person.”
Jiang Changyuan was so moved he nearly cried—she was too kind-hearted.
Seeing that Su Yingying wouldn’t believe him, Gu Qing could only look at Jiang Changyuan.
“Jiang Changyuan, I know your family is powerful, but that’s no excuse for you to act recklessly. Others fear you, but I don’t.”
“Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west… Don’t underestimate the youth…”
“Wait!”
Jiang Changyuan’s eye twitched violently as he quickly interrupted the overly confident remark.
The last time someone said that, the protagonist was a ruthless guy named Xiao!
“President Gu!”
Jiang Changyuan clasped Gu Qing’s hand earnestly.
“I admit I wasn’t a good person before, but now I’ve seen the light. There’s an old saying: ‘To know one’s mistakes and correct them is the greatest virtue.’ You’re the Student Council President, a model student. You should understand not to judge people with prejudice, right?”
Gu Qing looked puzzled. It was hard to imagine those words coming from Jiang Changyuan’s mouth.
With Jiang’s temper, shouldn’t he be shouting and ready to fight by now?
To stop his campus violence, Gu Qing had even informed the Academic Affairs Office in advance…
“Yeah, President Gu, what he said makes sense.”
Su Yingying’s soft voice added, “Besides, what you said is just speculation. What if you’re wrong?”
With Jiang’s sincere attitude and Su Yingying’s support, Gu Qing suddenly felt helpless.
“What’s going on? Jiang Changyuan bullying students?”
Nearby, the portly Academic Director Lu approached slowly. Seeing Jiang, he cursed angrily, “You brat, causing trouble again?”
“It’s a misunderstanding, Director!”
Jiang Changyuan spread his hands and quickly looked at Gu Qing.
“President, you have to vouch for me.”
Though Gu Qing doubted Jiang, he had no evidence.
“Director Lu, I was mistaken. Jiang didn’t bully anyone.”
Lu Director’s words caught in his throat; his expression turned odd.
“Ahem… It’s good there was no bullying. Keep it that way.”
Hearing this, a smile tugged at Jiang Changyuan’s lips.
Indeed, although Gu Qing was the original protagonist destined to remain undefeated, he was methodical and would not frame others.
As long as he wasn’t caught red-handed, Jiang, destined to be a stepping stone villain, could still slip by unscathed.
“Yingying, if anyone bullies you at school in the future, come to me immediately. Don’t hesitate.”
To ensure no worries remained, Jiang Changyuan seriously reminded her after Director Lu left.
“I… I know.”
Su Yingying nodded shyly, a little embarrassed.
The class bell rang from the teaching building, and Su Yingying seemed startled, rushing toward it.
“Ah!”
On the steps, she stepped into a puddle, losing her balance and falling backward, her head slamming hard on the ground.
Jiang Changyuan’s heart nearly stopped. He lunged forward, pushing Gu Qing aside, and caught Su Yingying firmly in his arms.
“Wow!”
Students by the classroom windows gasped at the scene.
Gu Qing fell to the ground. Watching this, a faint glimmer flashed in his eyes.
