Chapter 6: Don’t Seduce Me
“Brother, I won’t eat tonight,” Su Xiyue whispered to Su Mu.
She bent down, picking up three pieces of meat from the ground, intending to save them for breakfast.
Su Mu frowned at her actions, feeling a bit ashamed himself, and ordered, “If you want to lose weight, throw the meat away.”
She looked at him strangely. “Brother, food is precious. Countless beastmen go hungry. How can I just throw it away? That would be wasteful.”
Su Mu gave her a puzzled look. His lazy, gluttonous, and rather crude sister was actually saying something like that? But, thinking about her usual behavior, he suspected she was just being deliberately difficult, probably sneaking the meat away to eat later.
“Since you know food is precious, then eat less. Just look at how fat you’ve gotten.”
He looked at her round figure with disdain.
With that, he turned and walked away.
Su Xiyue was left speechless.
She glanced down at her own excess flesh and, honestly, even she found it repulsive.
She had to lose weight—no doubt about it.
She would slim down until she was like a flash of lightning, dazzling enough to blind their dog eyes—no, wolf eyes.
Ignoring the mocking and contemptuous gazes around her, she took the meat and left.
She hadn’t gone far when a sudden chill made her turn her head—and she met the icy, snake-like eyes of Mo Lin, which startled her.
Did this man even make a sound when he walked? He had somehow circled around to stand in front of her without her noticing.
“Is… is there something you need?”
She stopped, looking at him cautiously.
Mo Lin stared at her deeply, his dark pupils gleaming coldly under the night, his voice sharp and frosty. “What did you mean by what you said by the river today?”
Su Xiyue blinked, feigning confusion. She had said many things by the river—what exactly was he referring to?
“What did I say? I don’t remember.”
She wasn’t pretending—she genuinely didn’t recall.
Mo Lin’s gaze darkened, his eyes narrowing slightly as he said, “You said, ‘Is this riverbank your home? You can come here, but I can’t?’”
Su Xiyue was speechless.
She hadn’t expected him to bring that up.
At the time, she had only said it offhandedly, to push back against Mo Lin’s rude attitude when he told her to get lost. It was a natural retort.
“Well… I just said it casually. It didn’t mean anything. Please don’t take it to heart.”
She forced a laugh and explained softly.
Mo Lin looked at her deeply, seemingly uncertain whether to believe her.
After a long pause, he suddenly said, “Don’t ever try to seduce me like you did today.”
With that cold remark, he turned and left.
Su Xiyue was dumbfounded.
Seduce him?
When had she ever seduced him?
She had been taking a bath, and it was he who barged in uninvited!
She sneered quietly, muttering under her breath: delusional, arrogant man.
But perhaps it was for the best—now she didn’t have to figure out any strategies to win him over.
With that thought, she turned and headed back to the cave.
Ye Ling happened to be passing by and overheard her last muttered insult: “Delusional, arrogant man.”
He paused, his silver eyes gazing deeply at Su Xiyue with an inscrutable expression.
She sensed the intense gaze behind her and couldn’t ignore it.
Turning, she met his unreadable silver eyes and was startled.
How long had this man been standing there? How much had he overheard?
But since she had cursed Mo Lin, not him, she felt reassured.
Ye Ling cast her a long glance, his thoughts a mystery, then withdrew his gaze and strode away.
Su Xiyue watched his retreating figure and sighed in relief.
His aura was too overwhelming; she could barely handle it.
Thinking about the recent events, she frowned deeply, feeling frustrated.
Five beastmen husbands—not one was easy to deal with, and all despised her. The difficulty in winning them over was immense.
Qing Zhu and Xuan Ming were even worse; they treated her like air, not even sparing her a glance, filled with disdain.
She felt like giving up.
But then she thought of the bathing supplies in the cave and the rewards promised by the system, which revived her spirits.
Though she now possessed supernatural abilities, this dangerous beast world still left her too weak.
If she could obtain the system’s rewards, not only could she change her circumstances, but also strengthen herself and live better.
With this thought, she found new motivation.
It was just about winning over men—she could do that.
At worst, she’d just lose all shame.
Carrying the meat, she headed back to the original owner’s cave.
The original owner lived alone, not with the five beastmen husbands.
Each of them had their own cave.
To avoid bothering the original owner, their caves were deliberately dug far apart.
The original owner’s cave was at the foot of the mountain.
Ye Ling’s was at the summit, banking on the fact that the original owner was too fat to climb easily.
Mo Lin was craftier still, building his cave on the sheer cliffs at the back of the mountain.
Snakes preferred shade; his location was not only dangerous but also inaccessible to most.
Qing Zhu, Xuan Ming, and Bai Qi lived less eccentrically but still on mid-mountain peaks, far from the original owner’s cave.
In theory, once a female had a mate, she would move to live with her beastman husband.
The original owner wanted to but needed the men to agree.
Su Xiyue, however, thought this arrangement was quite good. If she had to live with all five beastmen at once, not only would they despise her more, but she herself wouldn’t be comfortable.
There needed to be an adjustment period.
She quickly returned to the cave. It was dark inside, with only a few strands of moonlight filtering through the entrance, but enough to see.
Her gaze scanned the place: gnawed bones, rotten meat, leftover food scraps, unwashed stone bowls, and piles of moldy beast skins—utter chaos.
During the day, she had rushed in and out without paying attention.
Looking closely now, this was no home—it was a garbage dump.
The air reeked of mold, rot, and various strange odors mixed together, nauseating and repulsive.
The only relatively clean spot was the stone bed, but even that was grimy and foul-smelling, with a hole worn through it.
She was at a loss for words regarding the original owner’s living conditions.
At the cave entrance, she picked a few clean broad leaves and washed them near a stream. Wrapping the meat in the leaves, she set it aside.
She planned to roast it tomorrow, unsure if leaving raw meat overnight was safe.
Fortunately, the night was cool.
The three pieces of raw meat joined the previously roasted fish and the roasted meat Bai Qi had given her, which she had not eaten but also wrapped in clean leaves.
She intended to find some vines to weave a basket, otherwise there was nowhere to store her things.
Then she resigned herself to tidying the cave.
She threw away what needed discarding and piled the washed items at the entrance, ready to clean them by the river in the morning.
The filthy, foul-smelling beast skin on the stone bed was torn off and piled at the entrance.
So dirty—she couldn’t sleep with it as is.
As for the moldy beast skins, she looked at them regretfully. They were quite good but hadn’t been dried properly and had been piled up too long, damp and moldy.
Luckily, after washing and drying, they should still be usable.
After a busy session, she had thrown out a lot of trash, and the cave felt much emptier.
Apart from the stone bed, there were just two stone bowls and a bone knife left.
All the beast skins were piled at the entrance; none were in good condition.
Though the cave was cleaner, the foul odor lingered in the air.
Su Xiyue planned to gather some fruit and fresh flowers tomorrow to burn and mask the smell.
