Chapter 9: Skills and Weapons

The Sky Curtain angrily strode to the edge of the platform, calling out to his teammates below, “Everyone, come up here. There’s a new mission.”

In contrast, Qin Yumo’s eyes sparkled with excitement, her steps becoming lighter and more joyful.

Though she maintained her composure outwardly, inside she shouted with exhilaration, “This is truly satisfying. Hong Chen, you’ve finally helped me vent all my anger.”

As for Fu Chen, after finishing his show of bravado, he appeared calm and composed.

Smiling, he reminded her, “Let’s celebrate later. First, come learn the skills—it’s more important.”

Both of them placed their hands on the bronze mirror one after another, and a list of skills available to learn popped up before their eyes.

At the top were two skills: Meditation and Return to Town.

Starting from the third skill, they were the various trial manual skills they had collected.

Fu Chen, with memories of his previous life, understood well, while Qin Yumo was genuinely surprised and delighted for a moment.

On the Perfect Continent, increasing basic four-dimensional attributes each enhanced the character differently.

Constitution increased health and health regeneration speed, also slightly boosting both magical and physical defense.

Strength increased physical attack and defense for melee weapons.

Spirit increased true energy and its recovery speed, as well as magical attack power.

Agility increased ranged weapon attack, accuracy, evasion, and critical hit rate.

and finally the blacksmith, who sold and forged weapons of all professions and types.

After each visit and learning about the place, they were gifted a piece of armor.

This equipment served as early protection for newcomers and could be worn directly by any new player.

Three types were offered: heavy armor, light armor, and magic armor.

Heavy armor excelled in physical defense but was weak in magical defense.

Magic armor was strong in magical defense but weak in physical defense.

Light armor balanced physical and magical defense, but was inferior to heavy armor in physical defense and to magic armor in magical defense.

After discussion, Fu Chen and Qin Yumo both chose magic armor.

During their visits, they received three new missions: the tailor’s “Extinguish Gravefire,” the pharmacist’s “Rescue the Injured,” and the blacksmith’s “Forge Weapons.”

After visiting the blacksmith, the “New Arrival” mission was completed, rewarding each with 1 point of reputation.

Here, the two sold off materials and unused equipment obtained from monster fights for money.

Fu Chen earned over 8,000 gold coins, while Qin Yumo earned slightly less, over 7,000.

Finally, they began examining the attribute requirements of various weapons to decide on point allocation and weapon choice.

In his previous life, Fu Chen had already familiarized himself with all the trial skills of different professions.

But Qin Yumo clearly had none; she had to personally experience the process and choose her future profession herself.

Having spent most of the day together, Qin Yumo trusted him deeply and without hesitation followed his advice.

Fu Chen suddenly remembered something and added, “Also, buy 2,000 Wolf Fang Arrows for the bow.”

“After fighting monsters for so long, most of our gold is gone just like that,” Qin Yumo complained after purchasing the necessary weapons and arrows.

Fu Chen chuckled lightly, “Not done yet—we still need to buy 100 bottles of true energy recovery potions.”

Qin Yumo was momentarily stunned but resigned herself to reality. She asked, “What about health recovery potions?”

“Did you forget the trial skill we learned called ‘Calm Heart Chant’?” Fu Chen retorted.

Qin Yumo suddenly understood and nodded, “Got it. Let’s go then, we’ll buy potions from the pharmacist.”

The two left the blacksmith’s shop and headed toward the pharmacist.

The Sky Curtain and his eight teammates, determined as ever, followed closely behind the entire time.

What frustrated them was that Fu Chen and Qin Yumo used the team chat channel for their conversation.

They couldn’t hear a single word of what was said but could guess it was about buying weapons.

In this world, buying and selling items was just like learning skills.

When they reached a stall, a product selection and inventory interface popped up right before their eyes.

Seeing the two leave, the Sky Curtain hurried his teammates, “They’re heading out of town to fight monsters. Let’s follow and make sure they don’t get any kills.”
