Chapter 32: The World, A Transaction

Qin Yumo looked rather dejected as well. Furrowing her brows, she asked worriedly, “Then what are we going to do about our skill books?”
Fu Chen let out a soft sigh and replied helplessly, “Monsters don’t drop them. We can only ‘beg’ them from other players—trade for them or buy them.”
Qin Yumo had considered that option too, but the crucial question was whom to trade with and whom to buy from.
Surely they could not behave like those newcomers they had seen in Sword Immortal City, shouting at the top of their lungs throughout the streets?
The city was already packed with people, and the noise was deafening. Even if they screamed themselves hoarse, hardly anyone would hear them.
Besides, Qin Yumo absolutely could not bring herself to do such a thing. She could not afford to lose that much face.
She could not help glancing at Fu Chen, remembering his “social berserker” tendency to grab complete strangers and ask them for directions.
Qin Yumo had to admit that someone like him was indeed the only sort of person who could do this without the slightest psychological burden.
Beside her, Fu Chen had no idea that his teammate was imagining him running around the city hawking his wares.
Ever since deciding to give up hunting monsters, Fu Chen had already opened the Treasures Mall and begun searching for the item he needed.
[Thousand-Mile Voice] Price: 5 gold coins each; functional consumable item; level requirement: 10.
Allows your voice to reach every corner of the Perfect Continent.
Note: When stored in your spatial inventory, it can be used to speak in the World Channel.
“The items in Perfect World are ridiculously expensive!” Fu Chen grumbled inwardly as he gritted his teeth and bought ten Thousand-Mile Voices.
After switching to the World Channel, he immediately sent a voice message:
“I need two copies each of the martial artist’s level-one skills Swift Cloud Step and Flowing Water. I can trade other class skill books or purchase them outright. Anyone who has them, please message me privately.”
Qin Yumo suddenly heard Fu Chen shout beside her and wondered what good such shouting could possibly do.
The very next second, however, she saw the message appear in the World Channel at the lower-left corner of the auxiliary interface.
There was also a voice icon before the message. With a mere thought, Fu Chen’s words from moments earlier rang in her ears.
At the same time, everyone on the Perfect Continent—whether they were in one of the three major cities or out in the wilderness completing quests and hunting monsters—saw the message Fu Chen had just sent appear before their eyes in the World Channel.
At first, they were startled and confused. Then the entire channel erupted in excitement.
“Damn, why can ‘Half-Lost in the Mortal World’ post in the World Channel?”
“I’ve been shouting myself hoarse everywhere, and only now do I find out there’s a feature like this? Isn’t that just bullying?”

“We’re all still experimenting with skill books, and he’s already begun learning martial artist skills?”
“Interesting. I thought the few of us were far ahead of everyone else in level, but it turns out there are others!”
…
Qin Yumo was equally astonished. She looked curiously at Fu Chen and asked, “Red Dust, how did you do that?”
Fu Chen had no time to answer. He had begun receiving a flood of private messages and friend requests.
Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority were not responses concerning the skill books at all. Instead, they were asking how he had managed to speak in the World Channel.
Fu Chen certainly did not have the energy to answer them one by one, so he simply used another Thousand-Mile Voice.
“A lot of people have been asking how to speak in the World Channel, so I’ll answer everyone at once. Once you reach level ten, you can purchase the Thousand-Mile Voice item from the Treasures Mall.”
Qin Yumo complained mournfully, “Red Dust, you knew about this item all along. Why didn’t you tell me?”
Fu Chen looked genuinely surprised. “I saw that you had already changed into your costume, so I assumed you knew. Don’t tell me you only looked at the costumes?”
Caught off guard and exposed, Qin Yumo felt both embarrassed and ashamed.
Her cheeks flushed, but she still stubbornly protested, “How could that be? I just… I just didn’t notice it.”
While the two of them were talking, one new message after another suddenly began appearing in the World Channel.
[Blood Before the City]: Buying all kinds of beast tamer skill books. Interested parties, meet at Ten Thousand Transformations City to trade.
[Demon Beauty Bewitches the Masses]: Buying the venomancer skills Ironrock Gu and Fox Demon Transformation. Message me privately if you have them!
[One Smile Slaughters a City]: Buying the archer skills Frost Arrow and Wing Shield. Message me privately if interested!
[Big-Breasted You Rong]: Half-Lost in the Mortal World, I have Swift Cloud Step. I’ll trade it for Sturdy Armor Talisman or Feather Shield.
[Refuses to Save the Dying]: You people are truly a bunch of animals. How many days has it been, and you’re already level ten?
[Rumors Begin with the Wise]: To the person above, don’t forget that you’re one of those animals too. How can you be so shameless as to criticize others?
[One Smile Slaughters a City]: Thanks, Half-Lost in the Mortal World. You’ve opened the door to communication for everyone. At last, it doesn’t feel so lifeless anymore.
[Refuses to Save the Dying]: Plus one. If you hadn’t reminded us, I’d still be foolishly staring at clothes and food…
Fu Chen stared at the messages in the World Channel, completely dumbfounded.
The people speaking there were all powerful figures who had made resounding names for themselves in his previous life.
Who could have imagined that a single advertising message he had sent out of desperation would bring all of them into the open?

Moreover, these people truly deserved their reputations as the peak experts of his previous life. Without making the slightest sound, every one of them had already reached level ten.
While Fu Chen stood there, lost in memories of his former life, Qin Yumo called him back to his senses from beside him.
“Red Dust, that person named You Rong is calling for you in the World Channel. She wants you to accept her friend request.”
“Huh? Oh, I’ll accept it right now.”
Fu Chen came back to himself, opened the friend-request list, and accepted every request without even looking at them.
Before long, Big-Breasted You Rong sent him a message:
“Half-Lost in the Mortal World, do you have Sturdy Armor Talisman and Feather Shield?”
Fu Chen checked his inventory. He had only one level-one cleric skill book, Feather Shield.
He turned and asked Qin Yumo, “Desolate, do you have a Sturdy Armor Talisman skill book in your inventory?”
Qin Yumo had been hunting monsters the entire time and genuinely had no idea how many items had entered her bag.
She opened her inventory and checked. There were more than ten skill books of various kinds, including three copies of Sturdy Armor Talisman.
She nodded at Fu Chen. “I have three copies. There are also two skill books each for beast tamers, venomancers, archers, and mages.”
Fu Chen shook his head with a bitter smile. “This is unbelievable. The only skill books that refuse to drop are the martial artist ones.”
After finishing his complaint, he immediately messaged Big-Breasted You Rong and explained the situation.
The other party quickly replied, asking him to meet at the teleportation array in Feather City for the trade.
“Desolate, we’ll return to the city first, then teleport to Feather City and exchange the skill books.”
Fu Chen gave Qin Yumo his instructions, then cast Return to Town and went straight back to Four Directions Stronghold.
The two of them then teleported to Feather City, where they found the person they had arranged to meet standing beside the teleportation master.
Big-Breasted You Rong appeared to be in her mid-twenties. Her hair was tied in a side ponytail, and she wore a pale white, waist-cinched dress.
When she saw Fu Chen emerge from the teleportation array, she stepped forward with a smile and greeted him.
“I spent half the day hunting and couldn’t get either of these skill books, yet you have both. This world really is fascinating.”
Fu Chen had no interest in exchanging pleasantries and went straight to the point.
“Sturdy Armor Talisman and Feather Shield, in exchange for two copies of Swift Cloud Step.”
“You’re rather handsome. I didn’t expect you to be such a dull man with no sense of romance,” Big-Breasted You Rong teased with a light laugh.
