Chapter 20: The Main City, Classes

Along with the notification for the class awakening quest, two additional alerts appeared from the system’s auxiliary functions:

"New teleportation point discovered: Feather City."
"New teleportation point discovered: Beast City."

Living this life a second time, Fu Chen hadn't expected to unlock the class awakening quest as early as the second day. Recalling his previous life, it wasn't until the evening of this same day that he had finally reunited with Yang Siyao, who had just entered the Perfect World. Back then, the two of them had joined the throng of other newcomers, following the tutorial prompts step-by-step to complete quests and level up. Every task required grouping up with other players to compete for monsters, otherwise, completion was impossible. The upside was that the process was relatively safe, with a lively and relaxed atmosphere due to the sheer volume of players compared to the limited spawns. The downside was the inefficiency; they spent far too much time searching for, fighting over, or waiting for monsters to respawn. Of course, this was an unavoidable reality for all newcomers at the time. Because of this, Fu Chen, like most others, had experienced a very standard, unremarkable progression. In his previous life, it had taken until the morning of the fourth day after the Descent to reach level 9 and unlock the class awakening quest.

"We’ve finally reached the class awakening! Let’s hurry and check the specific requirements."

The excited voice of Qin Yumou cut through Fu Chen’s memories. He immediately opened the quest log to review the details.

After a quick scan, Fu Chen closed the log and smiled at Qin Yumou. "Let’s go. We’ll head straight back to Sword City and start with the Human Skill Masters."

Qin Yumou nodded expectantly and followed Fu Chen to the Teleport Master in Hidden Hero Village, returning to Sword City. Walking through the bustling streets, they navigated the sea of newcomers and, following the quest prompts, arrived at the north side of the city. Deep in the northernmost reaches, beneath a towering waterfall, they found the two Human Skill Masters in a pavilion.

They approached the Blademaster standing on the south side of the pavilion first. Fu Chen spoke respectfully, "Master, we are about to undergo our class awakening and have come specifically to learn more about the Blademaster."

The Blademaster laughed heartily. "Then let me give you a brief introduction. Blademasters are experts in all manner of weaponry and the art of controlling Qi; each is a master of arms and a combat genius. They excel at delivering lethal damage at close range while using agile footwork to evade powerful attacks. I look forward to seeing if you choose to become a mighty Blademaster."

After bidding the Blademaster farewell, they found the Wizard master on the north side of the pavilion.

"Wizards specialize in offensive spells, having mastered the natural mysteries of water, fire, and earth. However, in pursuit of profound magical insight, Wizards spend long periods in deep meditation. Consequently, their physical bodies have become quite fragile. While they excel at powerful spells, they are not suited for close-quarters combat."

Having visited the two Human masters, the pair returned to the teleportation array and warped to Feather City. Feather City is the main city of the Winged Elves, centered around a colossal, sacred tree that towers into the clouds, sheltering the entire city. The Winged Elves, one of the three great races of the Perfect World, are the descendants of a union between gods and humans. They are holy and proud, with tall, elegant figures and beautiful faces, adorned with "God-given Wings" or "God-given Feathers."

As the white light of the teleportation array faded, Fu Chen and Qin Yumou appeared. Standing in this magical, fresh, pure, and beautiful city felt like being held in the embrace of nature. Qin Yumou couldn't help but gasp in wonder, praising, "What a beautiful place, what a gorgeous city."

"If you like it, we can come back and visit often," Fu Chen said with a smile. "Let’s go, quest first."

The layout of Feather City was less complex than Sword City. Beneath the massive roots of the sacred tree lay a central hall, where the Elders and Priests of the Winged Elves spent most of their time. The Winged Elf Skill Masters were located on either side of the pool in the center of this hall.

They first approached the Winged Elf master to learn about the class. "As descendants of the female divine race, Winged Elves possess 'God-given Feathers' and can fly freely. They wield mysterious healing and curse arts, and are proficient in the natural mysteries of wind, thunder, and lightning. Winged Elves are not suited for melee combat, but they possess immense spiritual power."

Next, they approached the Archer master. "Archers possess light bones and graceful postures. They excel with long-range weapons like bows and crossbows, making them excellent marksmen and warriors. As descendants of the divine race and human women, Archers possess 'God-given Wings' and can fly freely."

Afterward, the two left Feather City and teleported to their final destination: Beast City.

Beast City is the capital of the Untamed race, located in the desolate, barren western Gobi desert, where a sky filled with yellow dust is the local trademark. The entire city is built from massive stones, exuding a primitive, ancient aura—rugged yet imposing. Stepping out of the central teleportation array, the city was just as crowded as the others, with newcomers rushing about in a chaotic frenzy.

Fu Chen and Qin Yumou found the Barbarian Skill Master first. "Possessing immense explosive power and having endured the suffering of countless reincarnations, they possess a resilient, indestructible will. Barbarians instill fear in their enemies; when their beastly nature is awakened, they transform into their true animal form."

Finally, they reached the last step of the quest: visiting the Venomancer master.

"Venomancers originate from foxes. They specialize in poison arts and wood-based attacks, and they can tame animals as pets to assist in combat. In times of crisis, Venomancers can also transform into a fox, enhancing their melee capabilities."

At this moment, the first stage of the quest completed automatically, and the requirements for the second stage appeared.

After reading the information, both knew it was time to make their choice. Qin Yumou couldn't suppress her curiosity and hopped over, asking eagerly, "Hongchen, which class are you planning to choose? I saw you using a bow earlier—is it the Archer?"

Fu Chen smiled mysteriously and countered, "What about you? Have you decided? Magic or physical?"

Qin Yumou pondered for a moment, then said with a serious expression, "I intend to wait and see what you choose before I decide."

"If you say it like that, then I’m not going to tell you!" Fu Chen teased.

However, Qin Yumou remained calm, her eyes fixed intently on him as she waited quietly for an answer. Seeing this, Fu Chen dropped the playful tone and spoke with solemn sincerity: "I choose the Blademaster!"
