Wen You stared at Wen Jin, no longer concealing her disdain. Wen Jin withdrew her hand and looked Wen You up and down, not surprised by her words—after all, this was Wen You’s true nature. Calmly, she said, “Not everyone likes to snatch what belongs to others, especially not a man.” Wen You arched an eyebrow. “Is there any need to pretend to be so aloof in front of me?” “Wen Jin, I’ve seen plenty of people from your background; none of them aren’t scheming their way up,” Wen You said, sitting down but looking down on Wen Jin with a sneer. The contempt in her eyes was exactly the same as when she first saw Wen Jin at the Sheng family’s house. Wen You picked up the documents before her, flipped through them casually, then tossed them at Wen Jin. “You really think I’m kind enough to let you stay by Sheng Yang’s side?” “I just want you to understand clearly—people like you can play with Sheng Yang, but if you truly want him to love you—” “You’re not worthy.” Wen Jin remained silent, enduring Wen You’s performance. When Wen You finished speaking, Wen Jin calmly gathered the papers on the table. “Miss Wen, since you know that personal matters shouldn’t be discussed during private time,” she said expressionlessly, “you should also understand that private matters shouldn’t be discussed during work hours.” “This is Crescent Moon Design Studio. No one here is interested in your love life.” With that, Wen Jin took her things and left. But once out of the meeting room, her expression darkened noticeably. Seeing this, a colleague offered to handle Wen You’s visit on her behalf, but Wen Jin refused. She knew Wen You came today to assert dominance; even if someone else took her place, Wen You wouldn’t agree. What Wen Jin didn’t expect was that Wen You’s belongings would go missing. Near the end of the workday, Wen You, having finally approved the revised plan, prepared to leave—only to find the jewelry she intended as gifts for her elders was missing. Wen Jin immediately became the prime suspect. Wen You’s face turned cold. “You’re the only person who’s been in contact with me, so naturally, you’re the most suspicious.” Wen Jin showed no sign of panic. “There are surveillance cameras in the meeting room. If you suspect me, Miss Wen, you can review the footage.”

Wen You sneered sarcastically. “What use is surveillance? If you’re determined to cover for someone, it’s just decoration.” Ming Yue Shuang sensed the tension and stepped forward to mediate. Wen You glanced at her and said lightly, “Manager Ming, think carefully—is this a problem with Crescent Moon Design Studio or just Wen Jin alone?” The threat was clear: choose sides between the studio and Wen Jin. But it was obvious that if Wen Jin were framed, Wen You would make sure she didn’t escape unscathed. Wen Jin tapped her index finger lightly on the table, saying no more, letting Wen You carry on. Until Sheng Yang arrived. He seemed to have rushed over from the company, still in formal attire, exuding a sharp and imposing aura. His gaze barely paused on Wen Jin before turning to Wen You. “What’s the matter?” Wen You’s expression changed the moment Sheng Yang appeared. She lowered her voice. “I shouldn’t have called you here, but this concerns Wen Jin.” Sheng Yang finally looked at Wen Jin, frowning slightly. “So?” Wen You cast a sidelong glance at Wen Jin, then said, “The gift you bought for my parents is missing, and only Wen Jin and I had contact with it.” A simple sentence, practically accusing Wen Jin of theft. Sheng Yang said nothing but gave Wen Jin a displeased look. Without even asking her a word, he remarked coldly, “Since when did you develop such a petty, thieving habit?” Wen Jin pursed her lips and looked him straight in the eye. “If Miss Wen’s things are missing, she should report it to the police, not make baseless accusations. That’s defamation.” Sheng Yang lowered his gaze to her, probably amused by how ridiculous he found her words, and actually laughed. His tone was indifferent: “Defame you? What treasures do you have that Wen You would waste time on you?” His disdain and indifference were unmistakable. Wen Jin’s face remained impassive, but she pressed her hand on the table so hard that her knuckles turned white. So, how low must she be in Sheng Yang’s eyes? Without a moment’s thought, he assumed she was a thief. His unconsciously contemptuous and repulsive gaze betrayed his true feelings.

Suddenly, Wen Jin felt as if all her strength had been drained away. There was nothing left to argue or hold on to. She took a deep breath. “I’ve said it before: the two of you have no need to speculate based on your assumptions. There are surveillance cameras in the meeting room. If that’s not enough, you can call the police.” “Call the police?” Sheng Yang’s cold eyes swept over her. He scoffed. “You think I have so much time to waste on you?” “It’s just a piece or two of jewelry. If you wanted it, you could have asked me directly. There’s no need for such dirty tricks.” After speaking, Sheng Yang glanced back at Wen You. “The appointment with my uncle and aunt is coming up soon. I’ll have someone send another gift.” “As for her,” though he didn’t say it openly, everyone understood that “her” meant Wen Jin. He paused, then added, “Such shameful tactics aren’t worth your anger, nor should you waste time on someone like that.” In front of everyone, he trampled on Wen Jin’s dignity, all while convincing himself of his own fairness. Loftily, he reminded her, “Your background is already poor, and your character even more despicable—only making you look foolish.” He felt no remorse for his words, never considering how humiliating it was for a young woman like Wen Jin to be publicly branded this way. Even Manager Shuang looked at Wen Jin with pity. But Wen Jin forced herself to hold back her emotions. Quietly, she said to Shuang, “I’m fine. I’m leaving soon anyway.” “They can’t affect me.” Meanwhile, Wen You and Sheng Yang left Crescent Moon together. Wen You glanced back at Sheng Yang, about to speak, but met his indifferent gaze—one that seemed to see through everything. His voice was just as cold: “Do you still want me to have someone send the gift?”
