As soon as Nan Chu returned to the company, she ran into Guan Xin’er.
When Guan Xin’er saw Nan Chu, she put on a fake smile. “Oh, isn’t this Nan Chu? Long time no see! Fame really does nourish a person—you’ve gotten even prettier.”
[She’s such a bitch.]
[And there’s Zhuang Wenqi. They’re both artists under her management, yet she’s far more famous than this bitch Nan Chu. How could she give such excellent resources to Nan Chu?]
Hearing Guan Xin’er’s thoughts, Nan Chu kept her expression composed and smiled faintly. “It really is true that fame makes a person glow. I think I’ve become quite a bit prettier too.”
Guan Xin’er: “…”
“I won’t chat any longer. I still have to report to Sister Zhuang.”
[Bitch, bitch, bitch…]
Guan Xin’er cursed furiously in her mind.
“Have you finished filming? Did everything go smoothly?”
“Very smoothly.”
“By the way, Director Zeng has finalized the date for joining the production. It’ll be October third.”
“The filming location is Wuxi Film and Television City.”
Wuxi Film and Television City was located in Binhu District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province.
It was the first large-scale film and television production base and cultural tourism destination in Xia Country, consisting of Three Kingdoms City, Water Margin City, and Tang City. It contained vast clusters of classical architecture.
“Okay.”
After chatting with Zhuang Wenqi for a while, Nan Chu went home.
She had not expected to find Jiang Han cooking when she opened the door.
Nan Chu’s eyes widened. “Jiang Han, why are you here? How did you get in?”
“A secret.”
Jiang Han had contacted Zhuang Wenqi, then gone to her company and obtained Nan Chu’s residential access card and door code from her.
He simply wanted to surprise Nan Chu.
“Are you hungry? The food will be ready soon.”
“A little.”
“Then sit down for a while. It’ll be ready soon.” Jiang Han sped up as he stir-fried the dishes.
A little over ten minutes later, everything was ready.
The two of them had dinner together. Afterward, they sat in the living room and watched television while waiting for the second episode of Twenty-One Days of Love to air.
Jiang Han said, “I resigned from my job as a psychologist.”
“What? Why?”
Jiang Han took Nan Chu’s hand. “Because I want to be your support. I want to protect you.”
“The day after tomorrow, I’ll start working at my father’s company. I’ll gradually take over its affairs, so I may be very busy by then.”
“Thank you.”
He had originally planned to take over the company after turning thirty, but for her sake, he had given up his freedom.
“There’s no need for us to thank each other.” After saying this, Jiang Han cupped Nan Chu’s face and kissed her.
The kiss left Nan Chu weak all over. Jiang Han held her tightly, not letting her escape.

After kissing her for quite some time, Jiang Han finally let her go.
It took a long while for the two of them to calm down.
When the show began, they watched it together.
After it ended, they took turns washing up.
Once they had finished, they went to bed.
Nan Chu’s apartment had a guest room, and Jiang Han slept there.
Although Jiang Han very much wanted to hold Nan Chu as they slept, she did not seem quite ready to accept that yet.
At six the next morning, Nan Chu got up.
She moved very quietly, but Jiang Han still heard her.
“Why are you up so early?” Jiang Han asked with a yawn.
“To exercise.”
“Going for a jog?”
“No. I’m practicing martial arts at home.”
“Martial arts?” Jiang Han was astonished. He had not known that Nan Chu could fight.
It seemed he still did not understand her well enough.
Jiang Han then sat on the sofa and watched Nan Chu practice.
When he heard the sound of her fists cutting through the air, he looked at her with newfound respect. He had not expected her to be genuinely skilled.
He no longer needed to worry about her safety. She really knew how to defend herself.
When Nan Chu went to wash up, Jiang Han went to prepare breakfast. By the time she came out, breakfast was ready.
There were eggs, bacon, and bread.
After breakfast, Nan Chu said, “Let’s go on a date.”
“Sure.” Jiang Han was delighted that Nan Chu had taken the initiative to suggest a date.
The two of them put on masks and hats and went out together.
As they left, Jiang Han held Nan Chu’s hand.
They went shopping together, choosing matching clothes and accessories.
While they were buying clothes, some fans recognized them. They secretly took photographs and posted them on the Jiangnan Couple fan forum.
After shopping, they went to a supermarket and bought some daily necessities and groceries.
When they returned home, they cooked together. Just as the food was ready, Zhuang Wenqi called.
A new variety show had come looking for Nan Chu.
It was a long-running program called I Love Fishing, a show centered on fishing.
There were four regular cast members, and each episode invited four guest stars to form teams with them.
The teams competed to see who could catch the most fish. The winning team would receive a gold badge made of real gold.
The show’s director had come across Jiang Han’s post about Nan Chu fishing. Since Nan Chu had also been receiving considerable attention lately, the production team contacted her.
Filming would begin the day after tomorrow. This time, it would be sea fishing, and they would be going to Dongshan Island in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province.

It was the second-largest island in Fujian Province. Thanks to its uniquely favorable natural conditions, it had become a “natural marine fish storehouse,” where many kinds of fish, including squid and pomfret, could be caught.
Zhuang Wenqi had already accepted the invitation on Nan Chu’s behalf. The production team would cover the airfare.
Once the tickets were booked, the information would be sent to Nan Chu’s phone.
After hanging up, Nan Chu told Jiang Han about her new job.
Jiang Han smiled. “I believe my girlfriend will definitely catch some fish.”
“I’ll do my best.”
After dinner, the two of them read together.
A little after seven that evening, Nan Chu received the flight information. Her flight was at two the following afternoon.
Nan Chu began packing, preparing toiletries and other necessities for their shared accommodations.
After everything was packed, they returned to their bedroom to rest.
The next day, Jiang Han took Nan Chu to the airport before returning to the capital.
After arriving at Dongshan Island, Nan Chu checked into the hotel arranged by the production team. Filming would take place the following day, and they would go out to sea on a fishing boat operated by local fishermen.
They would set off at six in the morning.
Since she had to rise early, Nan Chu planned to go to bed early so that she would not oversleep the next day.
Before sleeping, she made a video call to Jiang Han and told him she was going to rest.
The video-call arrangement had been Jiang Han’s idea: whoever went to sleep first had to make the video call.
Jiang Han knew that Nan Chu did not like making phone calls, which was why he had made this agreement with her.
Besides the video-call arrangement, they also agreed to report their itineraries to each other, so neither of them would worry.
Nan Chu and Jiang Han chatted for a while before ending the call and going to sleep.
The next morning, Nan Chu got up at five.
After getting out of bed, she went to the production team’s makeup and styling room. The stylists were already awake.
Once her makeup and styling were finished, Nan Chu went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast.
The production team had contacted the hotel in advance and asked the restaurant to prepare breakfast earlier than usual that day.
Naturally, the production team paid for the extra service.
Nan Chu was not the first to arrive. The production crew had gotten up even earlier because they needed to go to the seaside and set up the cameras on the fishing boat beforehand.
That was why they rose earlier than the guests.
Nan Chu ordered soybean milk and steamed meat buns and finished her breakfast.
The other guests came down as well. After everyone had eaten, they set off for the seaside.
Once they arrived, filming officially began.
The regular cast members appeared first: Ding Ruifeng, Min Qifeng, Pan Zhen, and Hu Yehua.
All four were veteran variety-show entertainers.
Afterward, the guests appeared one by one.
